Notts County’s Jodi Jones Declares: ‘I’ll Be Back Stronger’ After Tibia Fracture

PON_News

Notts County winger Jodi Jones is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining a small fracture to his tibia during the Magpies’ 1-0 defeat to Gillingham on 21st September 2024.

The injury occurred after a challenge from Gillingham's Jacob Wakeling at Meadow Lane, a blow that saw Jones initially attempt to continue before eventually succumbing to the pain.

After the challenge, Jones bravely got to his feet, clearly determined to carry on. However, after only a moment, it was evident that he was struggling. He dropped to the floor in visible agony, but once again showed his resilience by rising and attempting to move around the pitch.

Despite his efforts, it was clear that Jones was not able to shake off the injury, and after slowly trying to walk it off, he was forced to be substituted.

The club confirmed the severity of the injury in an official statement, revealing that Jones is expected to be unavailable until the new year.

This is a significant blow for the 26-year-old Malta international, who has been a pivotal figure for Notts County, contributing with his attacking creativity and energy down the wing.

Jones, a fan favourite, has been a key player in Notts County’s promising start to the season, and his absence will be sorely felt.

Following the match, Jones took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his emotions about the injury and the toll it takes on him personally.

"Everybody knows how much I love playing football & what it means to me, so any period off of the pitch absolutely kills me," he wrote.

"It hurts that little bit more when I'm constantly asking for more protection and for opposition players to not be allowed constant free hits."

Jones’ frustrations go beyond the physical pain, as he called attention to the lack of protection for players like himself. He lamented that despite voicing his concerns, these issues are often overlooked.

"Unfortunately this is something that gets brushed aside & results in time off of the pitch," he noted, reflecting a sentiment that many offensive players share about the risks they face from hard challenges.

However, the talented winger was quick to reassure Notts County fans that this setback would only fuel his determination to come back stronger.

"Anyway, everything happens for a reason & this is just a small bump in the road, somewhere I've been before but fortunately nowhere near as bad," Jones continued. "Notts fans, I don't want you to worry about me, I want you to be excited for my comeback."

Jones, who has previously battled through serious injuries, remains focused on a positive recovery, promising that his return will be worth the wait.

"The comeback is always greater than the setback & we all know how I respond to them!" he declared confidently, showing the same spirit that has endeared him to the Meadow Lane faithful.

In the meantime, Jones intends to use his time off the pitch to support the team and spend valuable time with his family.

"For now I will use this time to be a fan & support our fantastic team, recover well & spend as much time with my family as possible before I'm back & ready to get promoted!" he added, his determination undimmed.

Notts County’s official statement suggests that Jones will return to action in the second half of the season, and while his absence will be a significant loss, fans will eagerly await his comeback.

The winger’s combination of skill and grit has been crucial to the team’s efforts, and his return could provide a vital boost as the club aims for promotion.

For now, the Magpies will need to rally without their star winger, but with Jones’ words of encouragement and his pledge to come back stronger, the squad will undoubtedly find inspiration in his resilience.

Fans will be counting down the days until Jones returns to the pitch, eager to see him once again lighting up Meadow Lane with his electrifying performances.

i feel sorry for jodi jones, but at least he has the right attitude and his desire to do well should see him come back stronger. i think hes right about the challenge, but referees are not strong enough to protect attacking players. its very annoying, i hope he gets to have some down time with his family during this injury.

Challenges from behind are very dangerous. Just look at the picture and you will see how serious a tackle like that can be. His foot is also raised, so how it was even a foul is beyond me. The officiating during the Gillingham game was a joke.

It’s very sad news, but I am confident Jodi Jones will come back strong. It’s a tough situation for Jodi to be in. You could see on his face as he limped off how disappointed he was. I am just glad we know what it is and that it’s not as serious as speculated, even though a small break is still bad.

It’s always tough to see a player like Jodi sidelined with an injury, especially when it could have been avoided with better officiating. His frustration is understandable, and it’s something the league must address. Despite the setback, Jodi’s positivity and commitment to returning stronger is heartening. His connection with the fans and his determination to support the team even while injured shows his character. We need to keep the spirits high and show our support for both Jodi and the rest of the team.

The news about Jodi's injury is really devastating for Notts and all the fans. It's infuriating to think that such a challenge could take one of our key players off the field for months. The league really needs to do more to protect attacking players from these dangerous tackles. Jodi’s strength and resilience are inspiring, and his promise to come back even stronger really lifts the spirits. We’ll miss his creativity and energy on the wing, but his words of encouragement mean a lot. Let's keep supporting Jodi and the rest of the team through this tough period. We believe in you, Jodi!

Jodi Jones is a pivotal player at Notts & his absence through injury will be a big blow to the team & the supporters.

Jodi has had so much bad luck in the past through injuries, however, he's had a new lease of life at Notts, & last season broke records, received accolades from his fellow players, football pundits & became the player of the season.

The Notts squad is much stronger this season & I'm sure the team will work much harder to reduce the effect of Jodi's absence.

I wish Jodi a speedy recovery from his injury & I'm confident he will come back better & stronger.

Jodi’s injury is a huge setback for us, but his attitude towards recovery is nothing short of heroic. It’s incredibly frustrating to see such a talented player sidelined due to lack of proper officiating. His comments about protection for players are entirely valid, and it’s high time the league took these issues more seriously. Jodi’s strength and determination are evident, and it’s heartening to see his resolve to come back even stronger. Let’s rally behind him and show our support during this tough time.

I found it shocking that the referee didn't even stop the match. I understand why we carried on, and I'm sure Jodi wanted that, but the referee has a duty of care, and he completely ignored what was clearly a serious injury. I'm glad Jodi is staying positive and focused on coming back, though he must be feeling down about it.

You just know No Matter What, Jodi has the Spirit of a Warrior and Fighter. He's come back from Injuries worse than this, and he'll come back from this One, as he says Stronger and Determined.

What an Inspiration this Young Man is. Look at all he's been through in his Football Career, even at his Lowest he's clawed his way back and reignited his Career and quite Deservedly Received the Plaudits from his Fellow Professionals last season. It just a Shame that Defenders have to Resort to Kicking and Fouling Players who have more Talent than they have and it's the only way to Stop Them. And it's time Referees are held accountable for their Poor Performances.

I was gutted to see Jodi go down like that. His energy on the field is unmatched, and he’s been an incredible asset this season. The challenge was tough to watch, and it was obvious he was in pain, but seeing him try to carry on sums up his character. We need stronger officiating to protect our attacking players from such reckless challenges. Jodi’s attitude towards his recovery is commendable, and I have no doubt he’ll return stronger. His words to the fans are truly motivating. We’ll be here, cheering for his comeback and supporting the team throughout this difficult period. Stay strong, Jodi!

Jodi’s injury is a massive blow, not just for him but for the entire team. It’s hard to watch such talent being taken out of play, especially due to a challenge that should have been managed better by the referee. Jodi’s resilience and promise to come back stronger are uplifting. His message to the fans shows his dedication not only to his own recovery but to the team's success. It’s important that during his absence, we rally behind him and the squad. His return will be eagerly awaited, and his comeback will undoubtedly give us the boost needed for promotion. Get well soon, Jodi!

Jodi Jones is a big loss for us. If he reads comments from our fans or on the Pride of Nottingham, I hope he knows we are all with him and want to support him as best we can through his injury. We could have had worse news, but any type of break is never good.

It’s good how he’s taken it and is focusing on what matters. He’s an exceptional player, a class above League Two, and I wish him a safe but speedy recovery.

It will be great to see him back in the team. I am sure we have cover, and when he does return, he will make a huge impact on the team. His return could come at a vital point when we need someone of his quality.

Thanks to Liam for giving such a comprehensive overview of Carlisle United's current situation. The change in tactics and the potential that Williamson brings to the team could indeed make them formidable opponents. I’m particularly interested in seeing how their defence adapts to his style, and whether they can maintain their first-half performance over a full 90 minutes. The mention of the new ownership and backing is also crucial, showing a long-term vision that many fans can get behind.

From a Notts County perspective, it’s important we exploit any inconsistencies, particularly if Carlisle switches off like they did in the second half against Grimsby. It’s worrying that we’ll miss Jodi Jones, but Dan Crowley has proven he can be pivotal in games like these. His forward runs will be vital in breaking down Carlisle’s defence. Here’s hoping for a strong performance and yet another undefeated result for us!
