Notts County strengthens defence with loan signing of Ollie Tipton from Wolves

PON_News

Notts County has announced the completion of a season-long loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ollie Tipton. The 19-year-old player recently spent time on trial with Notts County, with the aim of securing a loan move. This morning, the club confirmed that the loan move had been completed.

Ollie Tipton is a promising young defender who will bring his skills and talent to the Magpies for the upcoming season. In a recent interview, Tipton expressed his excitement about joining Notts County, saying "From what I've seen, it's a really good club. It looks like the club is going on to something special and I couldn't wait to be a part of it."

The club and its fans are excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to seeing him in action on the pitch. This loan move is a great opportunity for Ollie to gain valuable experience and develop his abilities, while also helping Notts County achieve their goals for the season.

A statement released by the Notts County board of directors reads: "We’re really pleased to add Ollie to our ranks for the duration of the campaign, and would like to thank Wolves for entrusting us with his development. We were keen to add another defensive option to the squad and Ollie has all the qualities we look for in that area. While we see him primarily as a central defender, his ability in possession means he’s also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder. His versatility could prove crucial over the course of a long campaign, and we look forward to seeing how he progresses in his time with us."

This is his first loan move away from Wolves, where he first joined their academy at the age of 11. Tipton established himself as a leader within the Wolves academy, captaining both their Under 18s and Under 21s sides. In recognition of his talent and potential, he was rewarded with a contract running until 2025.

Ollie Tipton made his senior debut for Wolves against Crewe in the 2021-22 EFL Trophy. He continued to gain experience in the same competition last season, helping his side progress through the group stage before being narrowly defeated by Manchester United on penalties.

The loan move to Notts County presents an exciting opportunity for Tipton to further develop his skills and gain valuable experience at a senior level. Speaking about his role in the team, Tipton said "I'm a defender and I like to think I can play all across the back three. I'm comfortable on the ball and like to start attacks. On the defensive side, I think I'm quick and athletic. Hopefully, I can bring that into the team." He also expressed his ambition for the season, saying "As I said, I think this club is onto something special and promotion has definitely got to be up there. I really want to be a part of it."

it sounds like a very good signing, a young promising defender who will have to work hard to get into the team and this should motivate all of the defenders. he looks good on the ball, quite mobile and aware of when he's needed to drop back, instead of just pushing forward. the loan is idea, as it gives us a bit of padding.

It sounds like this loan is the start of the young player’s journey into football. Wolves offering him a 5-year deal suggests that they see him as a future prospect. I don’t think they would offer such a lengthy contract to someone they didn’t believe could break into their first team. So, this appears to be quite a coup, even though it’s only a season-long loan. I’m delighted with the addition, as it provides us with some much-needed energy in defence and further cover. I’m very pleased with it!

He has said all the things you would want to hear from a loan signing: he is here to prove himself, to be part of the team, and to help bring success. The talk of something special is something that many optimistic fans can feel about the season. Having a young defender come in makes perfect sense to me. It is not a loan signing for the sake of it, but rather an addition of quality, which is nice to see.

From what I have seen, he is a very intelligent defender, physically strong and with a decent level of pace. I don’t mind loan signings like this, as it makes sense to bring in someone who will have to work hard but isn’t guaranteed to start. He looks like a very promising player, so I hope we can help him on his journey while seeing the best from him on the pitch.

The signing of Tipton is a much-needed boost to our defence. His academy performances and leadership roles all point to a young man ready to step up and contribute significantly at this new stage in his career. It's promising to see that he is confident in his theatricality, as well as being comfortable on the ball. His hope to start attacks showcases his proactive mindset. Let's hope his transition to Notts County is smooth and that it's a symbiotic relationship - we support his personal development and he propels us towards our goals for this season.

This is a welcomed piece of news. It's evident that Tipton has the potential for great things and our beloved Notts would offer the perfect nurturing grounds for his development. With his versatility, he'd provide fresh tactical options and dynamism to our set up. Let's back him up and witness him flourish.

I must say, this is brilliant news. The addition of Ollie Tipton to our team will not only bolster our defence but also, given his versatility, provide new tactical options. It's encouraging to know that he's been with the Wolves since he was 11 and has shown significant potential, earning a contract till 2025. His experience as a leader in both the under 18s and under 21s Wolves sides also shows his leadership skills and potential.

Additionally, the fact that this is his first loan move away from Wolves shows the trust they have in us to help him develop. His ambition to be a part of something special and desire for promotion are testament to his hunger to succeed. His approach to the game, highlighted by his defensive solidity and offensive creativity, promises to be an asset for the team.

Brilliant addition to our backline! Tipton comes with a lot of promise and it will be beneficial for both him and Notts County. His versatility also brings so much depth to our defence. Can't wait to see him in action.

This is great news to hear! I was anxiously waiting for us to strengthen our defence and signing Tipton feels like the perfect move.

The fact that he's also adaptable enough to fill in as a defensive midfielder makes him an even better acquisition. With age on his side and having captained both the Under 18s and Under 21s sides, he comes with excellent leadership qualities that we can further help him cultivate. Excited to see how he will perform in this new environment.

It’s good to see that we have signed a centre-back, especially one who can play in other positions. There has been a lot of talk about him being good. I just think it’s a shame that Nathan Claxton hasn’t been given a chance since his Forest appearance. I think the two would complete our transfers ahead of League Two.

It’s a good signing. I think we have become so used to avoiding loans after all the lacklustre ones we have had in this market, so I understand that some fans might not be as excited as they would be if it was a permanent signing like Jesse Debrah. However, what I see is a talented youngster wanting to carve out the start of his football journey. While he might not be a Jack Grealish or Callum McGregor, he could very well be a top defender one day. I am excited by the signing of Ollie Tipton. I think he has a lot of potential and will be here to work hard. Luke Williams wouldn’t have it any other way!
