Notts County manager Kevin Nolan has confirmed that Richard Duffy will captain the team this coming season.
With skipper Michael OβConnor out until next year, the Magpies boss has given the armband to the Welsh defender, who penned a new contract in the summer after originally agreeing to write off a clause in his contract guaranteeing him a yearβs deal.
βDuffer stepped in as captain when Michael got injured last season and he was a great deputy,β Nolan told the Nottingham Post. βHe leads on the pitch and heβs been fantastic in pre-season leading the boys.
βSince I came into the club in January heβs been first class. Iβve enjoyed working with him every day and he doesnβt shy away from anything.
βHe always gives everything. I spoke about him earlier in my tenure when I said βlook, given whatβs been going on, the owner doesnβt feel your clause should be triggeredβ.
βHe just said βok, letβs go and playβ. Thatβs the type of lad you are dealing with.β
