Match Preview: Morecambe FC Seek Redemption as Notts County Push for Promotion

PON_News

Notts County travel to the Mazuma Stadium today, aiming to continue their impressive start to the League Two season, and build on their strong position in the table.

The Magpies currently sit 4th, while Morecambe, struggling at 24th, are in desperate need of a win to end their poor run of form.

Morecambe, led by Derek Adams, are winless in their last 12 league games (D3, L9), a streak they will be determined to break. The Shrimps have also been unable to secure victory in their last six Football League meetings with Notts County (D3, L3), including a heavy 5-0 defeat in their last encounter.

Adams will return to the touchline following his ban and will be looking to experienced midfielder Yann Songo'o to marshal his side. Forwards Ben Tollitt and Callum Jones will need to step up if Morecambe are to cause problems for Notts County.

However, injuries remain a concern, with Harvey Macadam a potential absentee for the hosts.

Notts County, on the other hand, enter the match in fine form. Despite a few injury setbacks, with players such as Cedwyn Scott, Jodi Jones, Curtis Edwards, Scott Robertson, and Lucas Ness unavailable, the return of Rod McDonald and the potential inclusion of new signing Josh Martin are welcome boosts for Stuart Maynard’s team.

The Magpies have shown their attacking strength and defensive resilience, making them a tough proposition for any side.

This match holds special significance for Jacob Bedeau and Dan Crowley, who return to face their former club.

Bedeau has been a key figure at the back for Notts County, helping solidify the defence, while Crowley’s influence in midfield, through goals and assists, has been critical to the team’s success. Both will be eager to make an impact today.

The midfield battle between Yann Songo'o and Dan Crowley could prove decisive, with Crowley pulling the strings for Notts County.

Morecambe will need to remain organised and disciplined, especially in defence, where they’ve struggled in recent weeks. Set pieces could be Morecambe’s best opportunity to grab a goal, with Ben Tollitt posing a potential threat.

For Notts County, this game offers an opportunity to strengthen their promotion push and secure another win.

With strong performances expected from key players, including Jacob Bedeau and Dan Crowley, the Magpies will be confident of coming away with three points.

However, Morecambe, on a 12-game winless run (D3, L9), will be fighting hard to end their dismal run and deliver a much-needed result for their fans. A disciplined performance and taking advantage of set pieces may be their best chance to challenge Notts County.

If Notts County can maintain control of the game, they should leave the Mazuma Stadium with a positive result.

Bedeau and Crowley returning to their old club will be interesting. Hope they show what we’re made of! COYP!

Really looking forward to seeing how Crowley performs against Morecambe. He’s been in brilliant form, pulling the strings in midfield, so his battle with Songo’o should be a good one. Morecambe’s winless streak makes me think we should win comfortably, but football’s never that simple, is it? They’ll be desperate for a result, so we need to avoid any sloppy mistakes and stay sharp from the start. A fast goal could really settle things in our favour.

its going to be a good game, i hope notts can retain the ball well and make real use of it. morecambe have some good players themselves at this level, so despite their form i do think notts needs to manage the game.

Morecambe are going to probably sit back, let Notts have the ball, they will employ a high press & try to wait for mistakes at the back by Notts.

Every team tries the same tactics against Notts every week, Gillingham last Saturday was no exception.

But Notts are much more secure at the back nowadays & Notts have reduced the effectiveness of this tactic by opponents considerably this season.

Notts will treat Morecambe with respect & will guard against their aerial threat, which I'm sure will be relentless.

It will be a day where Dan & Jacob will want to play well against their former club & Alassana & Jodi missing will be a blow too.

However, if Notts play to the level that they have shown this season, I just believe Notts will be too strong all over the pitch. I'm expecting a close game with Notts winning by the odd goal.

CMON U PIES!!

I think the key will be staying solid at the back. Bedeau has been a rock for us, and his leadership could really make a difference in a game like this. With McDonald potentially returning, we should be able to handle Morecambe’s attack, especially since they’ve struggled to score recently. However, we need to take our chances when they come, especially early on. Crowley’s creativity could be the spark we need to unlock their defence, and I’m hoping Josh Martin can make an impact if he gets a run out. Morecambe will try to make it difficult, but if we stay composed, I fancy us to come away with the win.

Set pieces could be tricky, but if we control possession, Morecambe won’t have many chances. Come on Notts!

While Morecambe’s form has been poor, they’re still a dangerous side if we let our guard down. Their biggest threat will likely come from set pieces, so we need to stay organised defensively. I’m excited about the potential impact Josh Martin could make. That said, it’s Dan Crowley’s midfield play that I think will be crucial today. He’s been brilliant for us this season, and his ability to find space and create chances has been key. If we can control the midfield and cut off Morecambe’s supply lines, we should be able to take the three points.

Games like this are always tricky. Morecambe’s got nothing to lose, and their players will be fighting for everything to turn their form around. We’ve got to keep focused, especially after some of the injuries we’ve had. Missing players like Robertson and Jodi isn’t ideal, but we’ve shown we can still play well without them. With Bedeau and Crowley both having a point to prove against their former side, I’m confident we can get the result, but it won’t be easy. Morecambe will be scrapping for a point or more.

I thought Morecambe would make it difficult. They adapted well against Notts, and it sounded like a hard game for us to adjust to. I think the draw is probably what most fans would have taken from the game. Either team could have won it, but as far as previews go, this one pretty much hit the nail on the head. Except the score prediction, gaffer. ;)

Good preview. Morecambe played very similar to what was suggested. They made Notts work for chances and defensively they did well. But I thought we should have troubled them more.
