Notts County suffered a thrilling 4-3 loss against Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The Magpies put in a determined performance but were let down by poor defending & Peterborough's sharp finishing.

The match started rapidly, with Peterborough scoring first after 10 minutes. Ricky-Jade Jones netted neatly into the bottom left corner following an accurate pass from Kwame Poku.

However, Notts County reacted strongly. Cedwyn Scott levelled matters in the 13th minute slotting in from close range after George Abbott's smart play inside the box. Merely three minutes later Matty Platt's powerful header from a corner put the Magpies 2-1 ahead.

Peterborough applied significant pressure in their pursuit of an equalizing goal. They came agonizingly close when Ryan De Havilland's strike hit the crossbar early in the second half.

Their determination was ultimately rewarded in the 73rd minute as Ricky-Jade Jones scored his second goal of the match to level the scoreline. Shortly after, Joel Randall put the home team ahead by calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner following a scramble inside the penalty area.

Notts County brought on some new players in an effort to get back in control. However, Peterborough managed to score another goal in the 87th minute. Abraham Odoh scored from close range, making it 4-2. This appeared to put the match out of reach for Notts County.

A Peterborough defender Oscar Wallin did something that annoyed a Notts County supporter. Wallin was warming up as a substitute, but he kept standing inside the field of play. He watched the game instead of properly warming up.

At times, Wallin appeared smug, as if he doubted Notts County's ability to mount an effective attack. He would go back to warming up now and then but players and officials didn't notice his actions. Wallin's positioning especially during a potential Notts County attack involving Kellan Gordon irritated the away fans more but nothing was done about it.

The Magpies battled hard against relegation. In stoppage time, George Abbott struck an amazing long-range shot which flew into the top corner from over 40 yards out. His goal boosted Notts County's morale, but unfortunately time ran out before they could find an equaliser and the match ended soon after.

despite the complaints from some fans, i felt like we did well against a much better team that has championship calibre within their squad. peterborough clearly did not take us seriously, their keeper looked awful and we stun them with our goal and that allowed us to get the second. i think stuart maynard should not have made so many subs, but if he did not then again some of our fan base would be moaning about tuesdays game. i am proud of the account our players gave, they did not stop battling unlike some of our fans.

Abbott’s goal was unbelievable! Pity it wasn’t enough to get us a point. Defence needs work though.

The cup match was quite the rollercoaster, but our defending needs serious improvement. Conceding four goals, especially with two coming from second balls, reveals how unsteady we are at the back. Abbott’s wonder goal was spectacular, and Scott’s sharp finish gave us early hope, but it's disheartening to see us lose leads like this. The team shows plenty of fight, but determination alone won't secure our safety.

Mixed feelings after that match. The lads gave it their all, but we’ve got to be smarter defensively. It’s not just about individual errors, it feels like a lack of organisation as a whole. Matty Platt’s header was class, and Abbott’s goal was the kind you’ll tell your grandkids about, but letting in four goals will never win you matches. Also, what was Wallin playing at on the pitch? It’s small things like that which disrupt momentum. I know we’re battling hard, but this pattern of throwing away leads is worrying. We’ve got to regroup quickly because performances like this won’t keep us safe in the long run. Still, there’s heart in the team, that gives me some hope for the league.

Cedwyn Scott’s finish was sharp, but the team just couldn’t keep it together defensively after the subs were made.

It was a difficult match, against a home team who has a large amount of quality above our level within it. I am proud of how Notts played and led the game, coming back after the opener from Peterborough could have easily destroyed our morale and made things difficult to go on from there. Yes, we lost and changes to the team didn't help matters but again, we did well and all the players put in effort. They deserve the credit which went into the performance, so no negatives from me.

Good report of the game. I feel proud of the players and I would have stayed to clap them off the pitch had I been there. They deserved it for the performance they gave and despite conceding goals, I don't think it's something we need to pay too much attention to because we matched them in terms of scoring.

I feel Notts deserved to get more from the match. All the players gave their best against a good League 1 side.

George Abbot seems to get better and better every match that he plays. He's becoming a major player for us & I hope Notts can keep him for the whole season.

Platt's injury is a worry, but we do have excellent defenders that can step in if necessary.

I have to give credit to the players for their fight, especially Abbott with that absolute screamer at the end. But I can’t help feeling disappointed again with the defensive side of things. Peterborough didn’t have to work too hard for some of their goals. Both of Ricky-Jade Jones’s strikes came from moments where we just switched off.
