I'll have a look at those when I can watch them with sound. The title brings to mind an anecdote from Steak Diana Ross - apparently Jimmy always licked the lid of the tomato ketchup, even when he and the team had gone out for a meal. Bet some waiters weren't too happy with that!

I watched the video on YouTube of him the other week.

It confirmed a story I had been told as a child, basically Jimmy stayed with us - despite better offers from higher because he didn't want to let 'the people of nottingham down', the young players, board, chairman etc.

*Sigh... You wouldn't get that respect these days.

Jimmy was just a top manager and man , what you say shows his values , could do with those qualities across society not just in the cut throat world of the beautiful game , .... My word that team could play , will we see the likes again  ???

I still vividly recall, when Howard Wilkinson arrived at Notts, Jimmy told him the side had skill but didn't want to put the effort in. Howard responded, "Jimmy, god  I will make them work!"

I loved hearing stories about his scouting methods, even today I often have various fans tell me stories of him. Scouting a player long term really does give a bigger picture, as you see their flaws more clearly and I do believe every manager should join in with the scouting.

Jimmy spoke gold, which is clear by how successful he was that it worked.

Like Jimmy when scouting a player, whoever was sat next to him would be bruised as Jimmy would dig in an elbow and say "aye, did you see that bit of skill" :D

You could listen to Jimmy all day. They don't make them like that anymore.
