The next manager

We're back on the merry-go-round and need a new manager. As Michael Doyle is also rumoured to be off too FGR, we'll need a whole new management team. Who would you like to see take over?

The current bookies' favourite appears to be Bromley's Andy Woodman. Not sure how I feel about that. Boreham Wood's Luke Garrard is also among the favourites. I'd have thrown Pete Wild's name in the ring, but Barrow appointed him yesterday.

Good luck to him at FGR. As for our next manager ? who knows apart from the brothers, somebody with experience of this league and the know how of how we need to play to get out of it. I have a feeling at least a couple of players will follow him out of the Notts door so a quick appointment would aid a rebuild, which I personally think was necessary anyway, we have too many with no bottle for when the going gets tough. Just an opinion, are others will differ.

Although Andy Woodman is/was the current favourite, I’d say it's incredibly unlikely given the statement mentions β€œa change in personnel does not lead to a switch in overarching philosophy.”

None of the names really jumped out at me, the only manager in this league that I might be tempted to look at is Phil Parkinson (no not that one!), Altrincham have competed very well for a part-time team the last two years and been no-where near the relegation spots like the other promoted teams.

If I had to make a bet, it would be that the new guy won’t be on that list… I’ll go for Ian Foster, current England U19 manager. No inside knowledge, but fits what the owners would want.

I'm struggling too to be honest. John Askey has just won promotion with York and likes attacking football. Luke Tisdale has just left Coventry's under 23 team, but would we really go for a novice? Everyone seems to be expecting someone from leftfield, but I'm not so sure. Last summer we changed our recruitment strategy slightly, with more players joining with experience of the NL. Perhaps we'll be looking for the same thing in the manager, if possible.

Mike Williamson seems a popular choice at the moment and you can see why just won the NL North and scored 99 goals doing it! I'd be interested to see if we've approached him or vice-versa. Plays out from the back in an attacking 4-3-3, which I think would work with the majority of our players.Β

Could also be a good bet @menzinho. There's one thing I am sure about - yesterday's announcement that it'll take a couple of weeks to pick the new manager has put the Luke Tisdale rumour to bed. Him leaving his job at Coventry would indicate that he's already got a job elsewhere, and we haven't picked anyone yet.Β
