Cal Roberts to Donny?

Featured Replies

Very much doubt any League 2 (and not many League 1) side has 250K to spend on a player, let alone 500K to be honest, it would have to be a deal based on additions. The club is probably trying to deter buyers, as we have seen in the past where clubs haven't played players on purpose in order to avoid paying out.

A few seasons ago Doncaster sold Marquis to Pompey for £1.5mil and last year sold Whiteman to Preston also for £1.5mil (*both values are from transfermarkt.co.uk). So I think Doncaster might actually have some money. I also think 500k is a lot for a player with one year left on his contract, a club can just wait for a year and get him for free.

No idea whether this is true but I can see why clubs would be interested in Roberts. I don't want him to go, but more often than not it was a case of Cal playing out of position to get both him and Ruben in the team...

i know the nep has speculated that notts has rejected offers for two players, i dont think allowing cal roberts to leave right now would be beneficial to the club. i think his value will only be better if we can form a strong position in this season and his performances being one of the reasons for this.

otherwise we are just allowing a good creative player leave without much thought imo.

My gut feeling is that he won't leave before the end of his contract. I doubt any League Two club can afford him (Donny's transfer income was probably used to plug losses elsewhere), and he'd be an expensive risk in League One, especially with only a year to go. But if we don't go up this time, he's gone.
