"Manny Smith backed to take latest chance at Notts County"

I personally would give him the chance - Sheehan is great at CB and LB, I'd like to give Leacock a rest myself once Sheehan can return to CB. Manny's seemed a little slow getting into games but reliable in my opinion.

Your thoughts?

I am not sure about Manny myself, a good player but I would stick with fox while hes here. He will be getting a few games, see how he does and if his performances become steady I am sure Derry will choose him. Hes been a bit unlucky at times, so who knows.

I thought Manny had a great game on Wednesday, i'd play him everytime he's fit personally.

I agree, he seems to start a little slow sometimes but does lead the line well. He helped Leacock, as did Enoch when he came back helping and as a team which is struggling it's good to see the back getting a little more settled.

Decent player, very effective IMO. He's mobile and agile yet strong in the air and highly combative.

When fit he is the best and most natural partner for Leacock at centre back. He's been blighted by injury and needs a good run in the team. I'd also see him as part of a back 3 with Leacock & Sheehan with the likes of Freeman & Fox as wing backs, if & when the opportunity arose.

I couldn't agree more. Keef gave him short shrift. As a club we greeted his arrival with such joy. He got injured early

and Keef showed poor patience in rehabilitating him.

It's bad enough that we screwed up on Pearce; please let's get this one right. But will he stay if we go down? Β

I was disappointed that we couldn't give Pearce more chances, he was in and out like a yoyo but he always seemed very reliable (minus the odd mistake). I think Manny deserves a good run because the longer he does feature the more reliable he becomes. He does tend to start games a little slowly but he's physical, quick minded and see threats.

The other defender who is similar IMO is Gary Liddle.

Deano is more hands on and likes to let his presence known, Manny is quite old fashioned in some regards.
