  1. The match wasn’t as bad as it seemed; Wimbledon just managed to snatch the win. It was odd that their fans thought the ref favoured us, given the number of fouls they committed. They could’ve had more players sent off, but they stayed strong. Our good moments didn’t turn into goals, and after they scored, it looked like they might get another.
  2. The strengths Sam Austin brings to Notts cannot be overstated, from his versatility on the pitch to his vocal appreciation for fan support. In times when both players and fans feel the strain of expectations and results, his words are a powerful reminder of the mutual support and resilience within our community. Let’s mirror Sam’s gratitude and push the team forward with positivity!
  3. Postponed matches can be annoying, but it appears Stuart Maynard has taken it in stride. The team’s performance could improve, but the extra training time for this weekend’s match against Wimbledon should have some benefits. A victory would ease some tension, as I believe the problem isn’t with the management but with individual players costing the team points.
  4. Notts will need to hope that we can involve Jodi Jones more, either with his assists or scoring a goal. Macaulay Langstaff will also be crucial when given any opportunities. A good team performance all around would be great. AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to take the points home and having defeated us earlier in the season, I’m sure they’ll come well prepared.
  5. There are still many points up for grabs, and despite our poor form, we haven’t slipped too far. Not as far as the club could have, which is a silver lining. Being just 4 points away from a turnaround and considering how tight the League Two table is, there’s a chance for things to improve under Stuart Maynard. Sadly, a lot of this hinges on whether Notts can keep most fans on board and steer clear of the looming cloud of doom. I believe the team still has the potential to secure victories, but the recurring issue of conceding goals is a concern. There seem to be more factors working against the club’s chances of reaching the playoffs than in favour. Regardless, we should be grateful to be back and feel more content than most teams that have just returned to the English Football League.
  6. To be honest, this should have been sorted before the changes at The Trent Navigation. The club needs to ensure that the fan zone isn’t just a replica of the Navi. It would be good to see the Navi less crowded as it has been in recent years. However, Notts must offer competitive prices and not just assume fans will use the facilities just because they’re supporters.
  7. Hello, welcome to PON @ShannockPie. Please do let us know something about yourself, such as your interest in Notts?
  8. A poignant reflection on our current times at Meadow Lane. This article resonates with the sentiment that we, as supporters, have a significant role in shaping the club's atmosphere. It's a reminder of our shared love for the game and the club. While it's easy to fall into a trap of negativity, especially after disappointing performances, it's crucial to remember the bigger picture. Our support can make all the difference in turning the tide. Let’s be the positive change we want to see in our club, cultivating an environment where players and fans alike can thrive.
  9. The dedication to dissecting Crewe Alexandra's play style by Stuart Maynard and his team speaks volumes about their commitment to success. The focus on not just the physical but also the mental aspects of preparation is admirable. Ensuring that the players are mentally equipped to handle any curveballs thrown at them during the game is crucial. It's this comprehensive strategy that can help Notts County navigate the variable challenges posed by Crewe and secure a win.
  10. Goal line technology, which has been around for years and has proven to be beneficial to the game, is long overdue. The EFL should introduce it to the leagues as it would put an end to many debates about whether goals have crossed the line or not. In this scenario, the decision will always be accurate, making the benefits undeniable.
  11. The club has grown so much that things like this seemed inevitable. But remember how united we were last season, enjoying a successful promotion campaign. Fans just need to use some common sense. Those who are selfish and choose to stand without consideration are likely not true fans. If you want to stand, do so at the back, but don’t start arguments with those who choose to sit, and vice versa.
  12. Reflecting on the article, it's clear that loan players have become an integral part of modern football, especially for clubs outside the top leagues. While I share the concern for our youth prospects, the reality of financial constraints cannot be ignored. Strategic loan signings, like Jack Grealish and Callum McGregor, have shown they can uplift the team dramatically. Yet, the club must also focus on creating a pathway for young talents to flourish, ensuring they don't become perpetual loanees or overlooked potentials. The balance is delicate but essential for the long-term health and success of Notts County.
  13. If we take a step back from the immediate outcomes of recent matches, it’s clear that our performances are on an upward trajectory. The team is gelling better, strategies are becoming more effective, and there’s a noticeable improvement in our gameplay. However, the critical task at hand is to transform these enhanced performances into tangible victories. It’s not just about playing well; it’s about scoring goals and securing victories. The team needs to capitalise on their strengths, rectify any weaknesses, and seize every opportunity to score. The focus should be on both offensive and defensive strategies. In essence, the urgency is not merely to play better, but to ensure that this improvement is reflected in the results of the matches. The ultimate aim is to see these enhanced performances culminate in triumphant victories. It’s about ensuring that the progress made on the field translates into success on the scoreboard.
  14. Seeing Macari back on the pitch and making such an impact was the highlight for me. This victory is a huge morale booster for the entire Notts County community, and it’s a clear indicator of the positive direction Maynard is taking us. Every player gave their all, proving we’re a force to be reckoned with.
  15. With the present squad, it’s hard to envision how the team structure and defensive mistakes can improve enough to secure the victories we think the club should be achieving. Notts won’t win every match, but I always believe that if we score first, we should make the game unattainable for the opposition. We shouldn’t let the same happen at our end of the pitch. Notts’ defence was weak, and I feel fortunate they didn’t concede more than three goals.
  16. Given the resources Maynard had at Wealdstone, his achievements were nothing short of remarkable. It gives us a glimpse into a future where Notts County not only survives but thrives against bigger clubs. His ambitious leap to the Magpies is promising, and if his past is any indication, it's only upwards from here.
  17. Eager to see if Maynard emphasises keeping a clean sheet. Our attacking play is normally spot on, but it's the other end that's been worrisome. I'll be looking out for disciplined defending and intelligent pressing on Saturday. A clean sheet would mean a lot, going forward under new management. A gritty 1-0 to the 'Pies is what I'm hoping for.
  18. Stuart Maynard’s taking all the right steps. He's turning a setback into a strategic advantage, and that’s some clever management. Also, his positive comments on club support and unity shed light on the great atmosphere he's helping to cultivate. Still, his part-time roots will keep him grounded. I’m excited to see where this approach takes us!

  23. Hello, @True Magpie. Good username! Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham.
  24. Just wanted to spread some more Christmas cheer and wish everyone a lovely end to the year. It's been tough, but moments like these remind us of what's truly important.
  25. They’ll return once we begin winning. If the club is avoiding them solely due to losses, then that’s poor on their part. The players provide a different viewpoint than just the manager. While I enjoy Luke Williams, I believe having different players adds variety and makes things more engaging. Losses shouldn’t result in no interviews being conducted.
