Langstaff; Notts Goal Machine

So there’s been a ton of articles about him this past week, features on the BBC Sport site and few write ups in national papers too.

I just wondered if anyone really thought he’d be as good as he has been? I remember when I first posted about him, I said he’d be doing well to get 15 goals in his first season for us, little did I know he’d have achieved that tally by October! I was worried when Woots left and thought it would take a bit of time for Langstaff to adjust to the step-up. I've been really surprised at how good he is!

I think there has been a fundamental shift in the way we play since Woots left. Woots, played as a target man which Ruben fed off to get his goals. Woots rarely created a goal for himself, he was maybe just a finisher. Now Langstaff and Scott are goal poachers in their own right, hence Ruben plays deeper and less chance of him scoring

Wootton was more you're traditional number 9 target man, whereas Langstaff is a finisher. I think it is uncanny that he just knows where to be and his teammates also appear to know. Brilliant work by LW to get the team playing in this way. I don't think Scott should be underestimated either, a different type of player, but his goals to minutes ratio is also up there amongst the best strikers in the division and I feel he might also have been in double figures by now if he had been fit from the start.

I'm impressed with the pair of them.
