December & January

So far this month, I've noticed more days where inside my home it feels like I am outside. Very, very cold! December was a weird month, quite sunny at times and although there was cold spells. None was like right now, nothing around my homes changed and even outside I am having to wrap up warmly because I feel like Frosty the Snowman.

How's the weather near you? I've noticed quite a few members with 'cold' set as their current mood.

It can't just be me who thinks it's colder this month, it's only 10 days in and I've noticed already.... LOL

It's a sign of old age Joe

The older you get the more you will find you feel the cold. I also think that central heating makes people nesh, by gum when I were a lad..........................oh dear don't start me off.

I haven't really noticed it any colder than previous years to be honest in fact it's probably milder than the winter when we had all that snow, which was the winter before last I think.

The year of the postponed games and continuous snow (almost), was much colder than now but last December was nothing compared to now.

I will wait for @super_ram to respond.

If he says its cold, it's generally not. There's the sign of old age ;):P

its colder imo, its meant to be getting worse.

I know us Canadians will laugh and dream of your 'cold'.

However i can understand where your coming from, my mam & dad said they we're bitterly cold since getting back to Nottingham NYD.

Its seems warmer this time of year than last year... we had snow around this time last year so it must be warmer. Me and the kids can't wait for the snow...to be honest. I'm always cold wrapping up warm, so theres nothing new there.

We don't really get used to it, I guess over their it's 'norm' and so on but the weather changes so quickly.

Part me would love to live in Canada, I usually complain about the heat and I love snow (see comment above mine). Though these past two days it's just bitter and horrible.

It's not as cold as last Dec/Jan nor the year before ,when we had all the snow.I think the difference is that the air is very damp this year whereas previously the air was drier. It's also been a lot windier this winter adding to the 'chill factor'.If you don't believe me just compare this years daily temperatures with the previous two years and of course,Joe you are two years older.God help you when you are as old as Tony and me.

I can't win either way -it's either too cold or too hot for me.I don't like extremes!

it was very chilly at ml today, i wished i taken my gloves. very cold!

I noticed there was a heavy frost last night and today has felt very cold to me.I expect Joe to say he's been hot all day now!

Today's not been as cold in my opinion, I've barely left the same room though. I'm quite comfortable here, though I did have the heater on a little. I suspect with you roaming around the house like a moose on the loose and I am sure you went to buy a newspaper, that you would've felt the cold more. ;)

PS. I was tempted to comment about shades and a deck chair, though I'll behave. LOL

It is pleasantly warm here for the time of year. 4 degrees, positively Bahamic weather. Where is the 2 foot of snow I envisaged.

I feel really let down by the weather forecasters, though I did hope to see through December without a single postponed game. I guess there's the compromise! It's warm where you are? Where are you? :P

It's a lovely sunny day today and IMO a bit warmer than yesterday.I hope it lasts.

The year I was born,1947,was one of the worst on record,It was however fairly mild until 20th Jan.I'm speaking from what I've been told by relatives over the years and by checking google and not from memory @tony hateley. So there's still plenty of time for a 'big freeze' and a lot of snow.Personally speaking I can't wait for the warmer weather.

I wasn't around in 1947 but I remember my mam and dad talking about that year's winter weather, they said there was still snow in the fields in June!

The first bad year I remember was 1962, I was 10 at the time.

I remember the winter of 1962/3 VERY well .It was my last year at school and I had an evening paper round. It was very, very cold from November, with quite a bit of snow.Even when there was no snow it was very slippy with ice.

Oh the tales I had of 62/63. The old un was a postie, working out of what would then have been a very large office at Huntingdon street.

Never missed a days work, and always got his round delivered. Somewhat remarkable given that to get there, he had to walk the line from Radcliffe on Trent into Town and then walk his post round and then yep you guessed it...

One day would be bad enough, but he did it everyday that he was due at work.

Possible if your dad is still alive. Dad was called Roy "spike" Hughes. Died in 91.
