It’s the time of year to make New Years Resolutions, things you want to start doing or things you want to change.

Mine is the usual one I have at this time of year and that’s to lose some weight, I’ve put lots back on over the festive period. I probably need to cut down the alcohol too.

Whats your New Year Resolution?

I don't have any New Years Resolutions per se, largely because I set out my goals a while before Christmas.  This didn't stop them becoming derailed though! Weight is my biggest enemy and Christmas saw a difficult and ultimately futile battle to not put (a lot of) weight on.  Still, we go again starting this week.

So, my goal is basically to get back to running a Half Marathon on less than 1hr 40. Still pretty pedestrian, but it's the first step to getting back to where I was.  Likewise my 10km aim is sub 45m and 5km sub 21:30.  In an ideal world, I would like to get back to where I was 5 years ago before injury, but age is against me so I am aiming for the above and then see where that leaves me for next year.

M first race is 3rd March, City of Newport Half, then the Hampton Court Half at the end of March. Then we will see where things are for an autumn half and some 10kms.

Here go!!

@Ohh Tommy Johnson If you think age is against you wait till now you get to my age, I did the park run on New Years Day in shameful 39 minutes! I blame all the Christmas Pudding.

yes, i have set some goals for myself and i usually keep them to myself.

  • i want to travel a bit more. italy, australia and turkey are three places i aim to visit in 2024. italy could be a weekender, with the other two making a week holiday each.
  • get more involved in my community.
  • join a gym and stick with it.

@liampie They are great goals.  I hope you achieve them all.

Italy is a wonderful country.  I have been there for work a lot and on holiday a couple of times.  Milan is great (but probably not my No1 favourite), Florence amazing, Rome incredible, Naples, scar (but outside is pretty cool - the drive along the coast is unbelievable), and Venice and Verona are must visits!  Good luck with a weekend - I suspect you will return.

I joined a gym in October, and the Christmas break has done loads of damage.  I need to get back there!!

I think my main goals would be to continue on the health front.

It's been a bit difficult over the last few weeks for me, what with having a bug and feeling too tired to do anything. However, I made a resolution the year before that I wouldn't push myself beyond my ability when unwell and I have stuck to that quite well.

I would like to find more time to do more digital art work.

I want to connect better within the Notts community, rather than just being a friendly face and someone who takes pictures at games. Socialising before and during games is something that I need to put time into - even if it's a quick hello. I care a lot about our fan base and I have met so many wonderful people that I should seek out more often.

I also want to write more poetry. I have always found it to be a creative outlet towards understanding my feelings and having a natural release.

Other than these, I just hope to have more family nights together. I spent time with my dad, brother, and sister-in-law. They mean the world to me, so it would be good to have film nights and catch up more frequently. It would be able to give Kate quality time with our own family who are becoming difficult to get all together now that they're all teens.
