This game sticks in my memory, mainly because I took my then 14 year old son who was a Man Utd fan, he later turned into a Notts fan and we spent many happy hours watching Notts together.

@Fan of Big Tone we had a fairly reasonable record against Man U in our two excursions in the top flight in the early 80s and 90s. The penalty that was awarded to them was soft, ( have we seen that before) and their goalie, Gary Bailey was up to his old tricks again, clattering into opposition players.

Remember standing on the pop side for this match, United fans in every part of the ground. Not much segregation in those days.

Clayton Blackmore went on to play for us when Sam Allardyce was manager. Obviously the highlight of his career!
