Man City released their financial statements yesterday as part of their annual report

http://content.mcfc.co.uk/~/media/Files/Annual%20Report/MCFC_AR.pdf

I thought I'd pick out some of the interesting facts from the report

Please note these are all as of 31 May 2013

Revenue

Match Day £39,615,000 14.6%

Champions League TV £24,144,000 8.9%

Other Broadcasting £64,250,000 23.7%

Other Commercial Activities £142,991,000 52.8%

Total £271,000,000 100.0%

Only 14.6% of Man City's revenue is from a matchday

Expenses

Total Operating Expenses £369,353,000

Salaries & Wages £233,106,000 63.11%

Wages account for 64% of Man City Group's costs.

As of 31 May 2013, the accounting estimate for the price of the players registration is £428m

Staff

Football Staff (Including Players) 222 49.44%

Commercial/Admin Staff 227 50.56%

Total 449

That is a lot of football staff, I wonder what kind of things some of these people do

Profit

Without transfers, Man City Group would have made a profit of £23.4m, but including the trading of players they made a loss of £51.6

Possible Bonuses/Signing on fees/etc

Man City believe they could have to pay a maximum £53.9m "upon the achievement of certain conditions contained within player and transfer contracts if they are still in the service of the Club"

Let me know if you have anything else you might want to know, and I'll see if I can work it out from the published accounts

Now that's what you call a solid business base. The actual football matchday is way down the list. What a world we live in now where the matchday is smallfry to other commercial activities!

The expenses make very interesting reading, apart that the majority fly over my head. I'm tired :P

I downloaded the financial statements for "Notts County Football Club Limited" with the latest available being for year ended 30/06/2012 and I'm afraid they only submitted abbreviated accounts, meaning they hardly give any information which they are allowed to do being a "Small Company".

The only profit/revenue thing I could work out is that we made a loss of around £2.1m in 2012. We were also in debt of £5,521,467 as of 30/06/2012 of which £3.2m is short term, (meaning it would be expected to be paid within a year) and £2.3m being long term (meaning it is more likely to be a loan, possible to Mr Trew, or other long term arrangements). Oh, and at 30/06/2012 we had £346k in the bank.

i guess its to be expected we lost money, it does not help sacking managers and we need to get on our feet financially.

What depresses me more is that we are classified as a small company in the eyes of Companies House, meaning:

Small company

To be a small company, at least two of the following conditions must be met:

  • Annual turnover must be £6.5 million or less
  • The balance sheet total must be £3.26 million or less
  • The average number of employees must be 50 or fewer

We classify as having a small balance sheet number, but does it mean we have a turnover of less than £6.5m a year or less than 50 employees?

Kinda makes you think how something so big in our lives, that we have so much passion about, really isn't that big in the wide world of business.

Nevermind, we are the Black & White army, and as long as we keep on marching (in one way or another), I'll be happy.
