Clapping as a mark of respect

I hope this doesn’t come across as insensitive but it seems like every match now there seems to be a round of applause start up on a particular minute of the match. On Saturday I didn’t even know what we were clapping for which seems a bit futile really. I get it if a former player or manager dies but it just seems like it’s every week.

Why we’re we clapping in the match against Harrogate does anyone know?

I get what you mean @Fan of Big Tone as I also had no idea why people were clapping so didn’t participate. It wasn’t till I got home that I found out it was for a very young girl who never reached her 8th birthday because of her condition, guess how bad I felt!
I do think though that any clapping for someone should go through official channels so it can be properly organised and all fans notified.

Yes exactly that, I think it’s a bit pointless clapping if you don’t know what for, I guess it would give the little girls family some comfort though.
