Luke Garrard returns to Boreham Wood as Team Manager after just 5 months away.

 

I think this is an excellent move by Boreham Wood to bring Luke back.

The Club enjoyed unprecedented success under Luke first time around, & they will be hoping that Luke can turn things around for a Club that have had a dissapointing year, once again.

Luke will be aiming to stabilise the Club then hope to challenge for a playoff place to hopefully give Boreham Wood a chance of returning to the National League.

I'm sure he will lift the atmosphere there very quickly, & if the supporters get behind the club, who knows what could happen.

wait, why did he leave them in the first place? its weird to see him appoint. its like the club has gone running to him with their tail between the legs. ????

You've just hit on it there. Trouble is in modern football, several bad results happen & the pressure is right on the manager, usually lead by the click & bait media.

Boreham were quick to fire his replacement too after just a few months.

Unfortunately the manager merry go round is just a part of football now.

I hope he asked for a slice of humble pie when he was negotiating his comeback. Boreham Wood look decent under him. If the board felt it was a poor season last year, they just needed to see how he did.

To be fair to them Boreham Wood massively underachieved last season, I don’t think anyone would’ve predicted they’d get relegated especially after they were just minutes away from getting to a play-off final the season before ????

I wonder if Luke Garrard thought he would’ve got another job in the NL over the summer. He’s been at Boreham Wood for so long I kind of think a change wouldn’t have been a bad thing. Maybe he’s looked back on the relegation and wants to make up for it by getting them promoted again. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out for him second time around.

It’s similar to Duncan Ferguson’s short-term appointment at FGR, where they sacked him and then re-hired him. It shows he cares about the club.

I think realistically, they have always been a mid-table National League team.

Their success seemed a bit of an overachievement, but their relegation was them underperforming. I don't think they strengthened themselves all that well compared to other teams and ended up in very poor form. I wonder if their fans have any involvement with this? If they wanted him back, then it would make a bit more sense, but I can't imagine it was easy discussions at first.
