Plymouth Argyle have parted company with Wayne Rooney following the side's defeat to Oxford United.

In my opinion he's a person who is being appointed on his reputation of being a very good player in his playing days, but is clearly not making it as a manager at the moment.

Maybe he should look further down the league structure & get plenty of experience managing a smaller non league club for a while, & build is reputation as a Manager at a lower level.

Not sure that he would want to do that, but he does have lots of experience that he could use while learning his trade as a coach & Manager.

As is often the case a great player doesn’t necessarily make a great manager.

Whereas a BT Engineer………. :rollonfloorlaughing:

Plymouth should look at Mat Sadler

Why would Mat Sadler leave Walsall to go to a club rock bottom of the Championship & odds on to get relegated?

Walsall are favourites to win League 2. A Champions mark on his CV is too much to give up.

@Robbie Plymouth get 10x football distribution monies than EFL2. They could say offer 8x increase in Walsall's salary...job done

I understand that and it would be very tempting to move to a championship club.

Some may disagree with me, but a League 2 Championship medal is good to have on a CV, but a Championship relegation is not, even though the Salary may be much bigger.

A League 2 win could help him get a much better club in the Championship if he is prepared to wait till next season.

Alternatively, he may decide to try to help Walsall to get promoted to the Championship next season if  Walsall are promoted.
