Langstaff Return??

Featured Replies

bit disappointing that speculation is aired like this, because it does nothing if it does not pay off and just because you hear something it does not mean you need to report on it. why? it feeds the vultures and false news merchants.

do we have any other ex strikers in the championship? :(

Yeah I quite like how no-one knows who we are signing now. I’m not sure how in the know Paul is though as he had no real idea about Crowley and that transfer happened the next day after his podcast! Generally speaking, whenever a player is linked to us it turns out not to be true.

As for Langstaff, like @Mapperley Pie said he started last night so it would be strange if they suddenly thought he wasn’t going to be part of their team. And they do have a new manager now so he might suit him more.

Strangely @liampie there are two other strikers who used to be at Notts currently in the Championship. Colby Bishop, but he is a big part of the Pompey team so it can’t be him. Kion Etete, who we sold/lost to Spurs when he was 17, plays for Cardiff and he wasn’t in their squad at all last night 🕵️‍♂️

As much as I would love to see a Langstaff return, I don't think it would ever happen. He's probably on three times the wages Notts would be prepared to pay him now.

Also, I think Notts's style has changed a little to play to Jatta's strengths, where players like Didzy are playing off him.

Must say it was unlike Paul to spread wild rumours on his podcast. Maybe just having a little fun with 'his flock'?

there is no major harm, we know paul is a fan and has the clubs best intensions, but its just disappointing because its really just fluff. if you say something without any real concrete evidence you are just picking up fans hopes and i dont think its needed. if its a playful thing, he just needs to be mindful how it looks. his creditability and reputation is not worth risking competing against those other supposedly in the know fans.

i am quite certain that paul would not say something someone in confidence told him in his podcast, so i think it applies here but this is just my view.

RM I believe, said Macca had quadrupled his salary at Millwall.

If he was loaned, more likely to EFL1, no way could Notts match Millwall's loan salary expectations?

I hate speculation when there's no actual means to make a story from it. If Macaulay Langstaff came back, I am sure it would help Notts, but I think it's unlikely considering his wages and how Millwall signed him only this season. A loan move now would be like they have given up on him, and I just don't think there's much in it.

I can't see it being Langstaff as he's still starting games for Millwall. Etete could be a really good shout though!

I doubt Paul Mace is close to the current hierarchy, but he's well connected in the world of football - perhaps he's heard it from an agent? I think it's obvious we're in the market for a striker. But just because there's talk, that doesn't mean it will come to pass.

I think Paul Mace said what he said in the way that he said it to purposely get this sort of reaction and get people excited about the possibility that Langstaff could return. It would be great to see Langstaff return to the lane but it's doubtful that it is him. As everyone else is saying it could be Etete and I think that's the more likely.

No Langstaff at Luton today 🤔.

I noticed that, missing from the squad. I still wouldn't get excited, but it's curious...

Yep good spot, but I'd say hold on popping that champagne!

From the Millwall match report: "Head Coach Alex Neil made two changes to his starting XI at Kenilworth Road, with Tristan Crama - for his first Lions start - and Ivanovic coming in for the injured duo of Ryan Leonard and Macaulay Langstaff."

In Maynards post match interview when asked about signings he said nothing was imminent but they are working hard to bring in new faces.

When Macca left, it hinted he had quadrupled his salary. Would an EFL1 club be able to match such salaries? A Millwall fire sale to reduce their wage bill?

Just one goal in twenty seven matches for Macca demonstrates to me that the Millwall style of playing Football doesn't particularly suit him regrettably.

Coupled with a loss of confidence I think the only solution would be a loan move. His wages may be a put off for the majority of League one & maybe all league 2 clubs with the exception of MK Dons.

I'm surprised Wrexham don't seem to have shown any interest as far as we know. What we can say with a lot of certainty is that sadly, he won't be coming back to Notts.
