Final table calculator

As we're entering the last few games and things are tight at the top, I thought I'd try calculating the final league table based on the last few fixtures. Have a go yourself:

https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator0.php?competition=4

I ended up with Walsall, Bradford and Doncaster going up automatically on 84 points, followed by Port Vale on 83, Wimbledon on 82 and Notts in sixth, comfortably qualifying for the play-offs with 78 points. We've still got to play Bradford and Doncaster and I had us to lose them; those games will be pivotal to our chances of making the top three.

What did you get?

This is my final table with Notts just creeping into the automatic places on goal difference.

I have them losing to Bradford, drawing at Harrogate, & drawing their last match against Doncaster, & getting four wins in their last seven matches.

But it is going to be very close. Non of the final seven games are going to be easy & the result in all of them could be different. Screenshot_20250330-222730.png

This is how I predict the final league table will look. I think Notts will keep flirting with the automatic spots but will stay just outside. Walsall and Bradford City will take the top two places, with AFC Wimbledon finishing third. Looking at the playoffs, I would back Notts to make the final, but I think the promotion will ultimately go to either Doncaster or Port Vale.

Here's mine. I might have been a bit generous with the top teams, but it seems we'll need at least 80 points in most scenarios. That's 5 wins, or alternatively 4 wins and 3 draws. Beating Bradford or Doncaster would be massive.

On most models it seems that 73 points might be enough for a playoff place. 75 to be a little more comfortable.

My prediction table is:

Bradford 82
Walsall 81
Wimbledon 80
----------------------
Port Vale 80
Doncaster 78
Notts 76
Grimsby 72
---------------------
Colchester 71

I really do think it’ll be close, there's still a possibility one team suddenly ends the season strongly and goes clear at the top, who knows?! I also wouldn’t be surprised if Walsall slipped out the automatics, I think their saving grace might just be their remaining fixtures against the poorer teams but their current form is awful.

As far as Notts are concerned, I think I had us down to draw with Salford and Doncaster at home and lose at both Bradford and Colchester… Maybe a touch pessimistic but it does mean even if we don’t have a great end to the season we should still make the play-offs.

I've done an up to date model after today's defeat to Colchester.

I've put Notts down for two wins, two draws & one loss from their last five matches.

Notts finish in 5th place & get a play off place.
