Chicksen returns

How weird, we were eating chicken tonight and we mentioned the chicken skin was crispy, that made Mrs. T remark that she hadn’t heard me mention Chicksen (or chicken skin as she calls him).

Apparently he’s coming back to Notts after suffering a bad injury.

Another bad injury to a Notts player.

Adam has returned to Notts but his contract at Notts will finish at the end of June 2025.

Hope Notts will continue to support him during his recovery from such a bad injury

I wish Adam well in his recovery. He's been a good servant to Notts  (115 appearances & 10 goals) & the part he played in our return to the EFL will never be forgotten.

Adam Chicksen actually assisted Woking's third goal with a superb cross into the box.

Can we try to encourage Notts to put out highlights of this quality? I appreciate the multiple angles and quality of the footage. At first, I had to ensure it wasn't a fake video using FC 2025. The overlays are quality, just very well produced and look not like something found in the Non-League but Championship or higher.

I haven't seen what caused the injury, and it's not featured in the highlights, but there were some rash challenges mentioned by both sets of fans towards mid-point of the second half. Woking played some quality football, and could have easily scored far more than they did. As for Adam Chicksen, I wish him a speedy recovery. I always liked him, and whilst he did a good job covering as a centre-back. I always preferred him out wide and believed he offered us something going forward and defensively. He probably wants regular football than he could get here, hence the loan, but I wished we could get the best out of him. He had one exceptional season, the year when we gained promotion back to the EFL.

Since then, he seems to have struggled to motivate himself or find the level of form to keep him in our squad's contention.

I agree that footage is real quality stuff, I thought it was Sky Sports or BT Sports or something.

Adam Chicksen’s injury is unfortunate, and I sympathise with him. Some fans think the club should offer him a new contract as a way of repaying him for his contributions during the promotion to the EFL. While I appreciate what he did for us, I don't think awarding him a contract purely out of sentiment is justified. His performances before and after that standout season were average. Clubs often support injured players through recovery, but it's common for players to move on once they regain fitness, even if offered a good deal. I hope Adam recovers swiftly, but I don’t think the club owes him anything.

I agree @CliftonMagpie the club shouldn’t offer a contract purely on sentimental grounds, there is no loyalty in football and as you say players are quick to go elsewhere if a better offer comes along.

Contracts should be given purely on the players contribution to the club now and in the future not on past achievements.

I still hope he’s welcome to train and use our facilities to help his comeback. However, I don’t believe we should offer him a one-year deal. Would Woking do it? I doubt it. I wish Adam Chicksen all the best, and I hope his injury doesn’t lead to financial problems. Many players have other sources of income, and hopefully Chicks does too.

pleased to see adam chicksen listed as a notts player here on pon, unlike the club itself. clearly hes on the way out, and its such a shame because he could fit our system quite well if stuart maynard could get the best out of him. i do agree he has flashes of brilliance and struggles, i think its confidence but i dont think we owe him anything. i also would not expect woking to sign him permanently knowing he has the injury.

its unfortunate for chicksen, but i do wish him well and until his contract expires he is a notts player.
