Portsmouth FCL vs Notts County LFC

Notts County travel south to face Portsmouth Ladies as both sides battle it out in the quarter final of the FA Women's Cup.

With the lucrative prize of a place in the semi final beckoning, both teams will be keen to come out with a victory, with the winner facing the victor of the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton.

Portsmouth are the only team left in the competition to not play in either the Women’s Super League 1 or 2 and Notts will go into the game clear favourites, as they sit top of the tree in England, currently leading WSL1.

Notts County progressed through to the quarter final with victory over Southern Premier side Coventry City Ladies, who sit one place ahead of Sunday’s opponents Portsmouth. Pompey have had to beat four teams to reach the quarter final, scoring 12 in the process, including a 2-1 victory over WSL2 side Durham Women in the 5th Round.

Notts County continue to be without long term absentee Ellen White, who picked up an injury against Durham in pre-season, but still have the fire power of Jess Clarke and Dunia Susi who have netted five between them in the season’s first three games. Portsmouth aren’t shy of goals either, Lucy Quinn netting 18 goals in 24 appearances, with Gemma-Louise Hillier chipping in with 13 goals in 25 appearances.

I think this should be an easy win for our ladies, however I shouldn't write off Portsmouth. After having a look at their recent results (obviously in a lower tier in the ladies game) they enjoyed some good result and so are quite high.

Just top off the perfect weekend by making the Semi Finals of the Women's FA Cup!

YLP's!

I am just hoping for a notts win all round, as always.

I was starting to think the game might end 0-0, not really sure what happens for the ladies cup but it doesn't matter! Notts are winning 2-0 :D

Final score 2-0.

Our ladies are in the semi finals! Well Done to them.

When the draw was made I was planning on going to this, but when they decided to play it at Gosport Borough's Privet Park ground it went out the window. Gosport is a pain to get to from here at any time, but even worse when there's train line engineering works all over the place down here. So I instead went to a charity game between Morrisons and Sainsbury's staff, albeit it meant going to Dorchester's ground! (Weymouth's big rivals). It was actually a good game, ending 2-2 with Morrisons winning on penalties. Sainsbury's scored one goal from the halfway line - the wind taking it beyond the keeper. And it raised over £600 to be split between two local charities :)

I wasn't at the game but a good score in the end. Well done again ladies.
