Kiwomya happy with County reply

Chris Kiwomya revealed he had to have stern words with his Notts County players at half-time after a lacklustre first half against Crewe.

But the Magpies' caretaker manager was pleased with the second-half response - and his new loan signing.

The visitors dominated the opening 45 minutes with a composed display but were left to rue not making the most of it.

The only goal in the first-half came late on from Alex skipper Luke Murphy who scored from the penalty spot after Gavin Mahon had tripped Ajay Leitch-Smith inside the box.

However, the hosts were revitalised in the second period and levelled through on-loan Manchester United striker John Cofie, making his debut, with a terrific 20-yard finish.

Kiwomya said: "It was a game of two halves really. First half we stood off them and got overloaded at the back and it was an easy game.

"I said to them at half-time, 'why are you standing off them?' They were coming 25 yards into our half and we were still standing off them so I told them not to be scared of them and we made a tactical change and it helped the team.

"The lads stuck with it and we were so close to getting the three points in the end. It was a great finish by John Cofie to equalise and I thought he worked tirelessly. We needed something and I had heard good things about him and it showed out there.

"I'm pleased with a point. I thought we played well second half and bossed the game. They are a good team and I thought in the end there was only one team going to win it."

Im glad he was happy i bloody wasnt 1st half almost caused me 2 go into a coma from boredom hope we get new manager sooner rather then later

Don't put all the blame on the manager.Give him a chance, after all there was a vast improvement in the 2nd half.Whether the improvement was down to  the manager's half time talk or the players attitude {or a bit of both] I don't know.The next 2 or 3 matches will show one way or the other,,especially if he can further strengthen your squad.

You can't be happy with the first half, this isn't aimed at being negative but we wasn't into any gear what-so-ever and it looked like we would allow them to play us. I like chris, he seemed emotional and shown what some good managers do, he kept giving instructions even when we was dominating. Totally different side, he deserves credit for loan signing and for the second half. I hope enjoys his time with us but I still think we need someone used to management, a manager who knows how to change things and get the best out of the players.

If he continues to improve this may force re-consideration but if we're going to be any chance for sorting our errors need someone who can address them.

our defending first half was concerning, they put themselves into situation marking and getting tight may prevent. Overall he's doing well and I was happier in the second half. Training is where we iron out some of these issues

changes in second half was key to changing the game. credit to chris and the players but first half we sounded poor, very poor.

The change was a good choice, he seems to be motivating the players well.

I think it was a good idea that he changed the tactics as they wern't playing that great the first half, but came back into it abit more the second half.
