Here are the latest odds on our permanent manager, who would you like out of this list and who would you definitely not want.

I would like: Steve Cotterill, second choice Phil Brown

I would definitely not like: Steve Evans

Steve Cotterill did a brilliant job before and I believe he could do so again.

When Rotherham played Notts recently I sat behind the dugout and I thought that Steve Evans and his assistant were the most obnoxious individuals I have ever seen in our away dugout. So no thank you to him.

Anyway pick your choice from below:

Chris Kiwomya 4/6
Steve Evans 11/4
Gary McAllister  8/1
Gary Johnson 12/1
Gary Megson 16/1
Nigel Worthington 16/1
Derek Mcinnes 20/1
Simon Grayson 20/1
Steve Cotterill 20/1
Gary Mills 20/1
Peter Reid 20/1
Peter Taylor 20/1
Nick Barmby 20/1
Alan Knill 20/1
John Coleman 22/1
Phil Brown 22/1
Micky Mellon 25/1
Paolo Di Canio 25/1
George Burley 25/1
Craig Short 28/1
Lee Clark 28/1
Chris Wilder 28/1
Dennis Wise 33/1
Andy Scott 33/1
Kevin Blackwell 33/1
Owen Coyle 33/1
Bryan Robson 33/1
Gary Waddock 33/1
Alan Irvine 33/1
Paul Ince 40/1
Paul Dickov 40/1
Alex Rae 40/1
Mark Yates 40/1

Paul Ince? How on earth has he made the list. LOL

Phil Brown would be a good call in my opinion, I don't want Steve back personally as I feel he'd leave when something better came along. (Unless we had a contract terms stating he had to buy-out) :D

The night of the big Miller man in charge of Notts is a nightmare!!

Has there ever been a job come up which Paul Ince has NOT 'thrown his hat in the ring' for since he left Notts?? ;D Never rated him in truth. Yeah he got MK Dons into the league 2 play-offs and what have you but it would have been more difficult to keep that club with that budget IN league 2!

Think we'd all love someone like Cotterill or Grayson, but lets face it the chances of us getting someone like that are pretty much nil. Ray Trew made it clear in a recent post on Notts Mad that his next appointment would be another gamble. Now in many respects thats better than simply trying someone fromt he managerial merigoround - there's a reason those managers are out of work - but if we're going to look for the next Nigel Adkins we HAVE to give them time.

I'm still dissapointed by Curle's sacking. I think it was said elsewhere in the press that they were three quarters of the way through the job and a couple of strikers were just the last pieces in the jigsaw. Had he managed to get a striker or two in I really do think he could have taken us into the play-offs at least.

That's not to say I dont think we will make the play-offs, but I think its pretty unlikely now, mainly because we keep dropping points. We cant afford to keep showing up for one half a week. If we win Saturday we might go on a bit of a roll and get right back into contention. If we lose, I'd say it's game over sadly :(

We need to be careful with this appointment and we then NEED to give them more than a few months to get the job done. Rome wasen't built in a day, and the instability in terms of managment at the club is quite frankly embrassing.

I believe Gray son is odds on favourite to take the Preston job. Would love to see Cotterill come back. But think from the lower down the list Nick Barmby be worth a punt.

A lot now depends on the performances  and results of Notts. If Chris gets your team playing and winning he could get the job full time or at least till the end of the season..If there is no improvement in the next 2 or 3 games, well your season will almost certainly be over by then and surely this will be when a new manager will be appointed(unless Mr Trew already has someone in mind.
