The Walking Dead vs Z Nation

I'm a huge fan of zombies! I grew up obsessed and I have literally every mainstream DVD/Film - I'm also a massive fan of the comic book of the Walking Dead (yes before the TV series and before it went mainstream) literally back when you had to order it online! In fact I have several indie zombie comic books which will eventually become mainstream also I expect.

So, awhile back I heard that a new TV series was to be aired called "Z Nation".

It was labelled the new "Walking Dead" and "World War Z of TV". That got me pretty excited, however I ended up forgetting about it as I don't watch much TV in truth. I'm also not the biggest fan of World War Z (very overrated). It shares many cool elements and it's very good, yet I can pick so many faults with it spoils the movie.

TWD (Walking Dead) - Realistic, I can see myself within the show and it really says a lot about humanity. The whole series is a "what would I do" and a lot of the time, I think it's spot on.

Z Nation for me is a poor mix of popular movies, games and of course TWD. The acting is woeful, the story and key elements are fun. Yes, it's not "gloomy" - it is quite fun but the acting kills it. I can also be very knit picky about what's happening and several mistakes, now I tend to look past these but when I notice so many things it annoys me.

Both are good, though Z Nation isn't that great.

I was actually looking forward to Z Nation with it being uncharted but I'm 2 episodes in and questioning if I shall continue to watch.

Does anyone else watch either shows? opinions and thoughts?

@fulci I would love to know your opinion, especially since your nickname. ;)

I have watched walking dead from the beginning. I like to get the whole series to watch in one go though so I can watch them over a few nights. (I download them direct from American tv) will have to wait to good give verdict on series 5 because I'm sure they'll do a mid season break again.

Got z nation on my media player for us to watch when we get a chance. I download to a mas box, stream to a wdtv which is hdmi to tv. Means I can watch it all on demand as I get it.

Currently watching the last ship which is a virus infection drama. I have always had a motorbike interest in anything end of days. I think it came from watching threads when it was first broadcast in 1984. I was only 11 but it Did two things. Scared the you know what out of me, but also got me interested in the what if type of books and films.

I find Z Nation to be extremely bad, lifeless portrayals, so wooden.

The weird thing is I like indie zombies films but even the zombies in Z Nation are disappointing to me. Funny how some of the cast look exactly like people from Left 4 Dead, whilst they've taken the types of zombies from them. I think it's more to do with the fact it's not very unique!

@hissingdwarf I'll give Last Ship a try.
