Stephen Hunt

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that on the same day as David Beckham retires from football Stephen Hunt has also hung up his boots and retired, just shows how short a career football can be.

I thought at one time that he had the makings of a top player and apparently Sven Goran Errickson rated him very highly (but then what does he know?)

Proud to be a Notts County Supporter for over 60 years.

He did look technically strong, I rated him as a left back. He certainly tried but I always did feel his best position was at centre back. The lad got a lot of stick, though I never understood why because he tended to do well. I do recall the odd mistake, though it's how you come back which should be knowledge, it's easy enough to make mistakes and drop your head, he always tried and reminded me of a very small, keen dog. I wonder why his Twitter name is what it is?

Shame really, though he could never stay injury free. Will go down as one of our most underrated players!

Great guy also!

A field where dreams become reality.

His carrer may have been brief but he gave me, and I'm sure many Notts County supporters one moment in particular that we'll never forget:

yeah recall him but very rarely seen him play. sad news, isn't he still young?

He's 28 so not young, but still pretty young to be retiring. If I remember rightly he picked up an ankle injury during 2010-11 that kept popping up. When Martin Allen came in the squad was quite depleeted so Mad Dog persuaded him to have an injection in that ankle to see if it would get any better, but it got worse and he had to go down to London for specialist surgery. I remember he went down to the training ground now and again to help out but he never really got close to making a come back. Such a shame, spent six years at Notts from 2006 which included a brief loan spell at Lincoln City
