Notts have added to their strikeforce ahead of tommorow's opening game with Sheffield United with the signing of Chelsea Youth product Adam Coombes. Coombes impressed during a two week trial at the club and scored a goal against Ipswich in the last friendly. The 22 year old has had league one experience during a loan spell with Yeovil Town, and he's also represented England at under 16 and under 17 level.

Welcome to the club Adam, best of luck :) COYP

Good signing and hopefully one which will only get better!

I would have signed him, if I were in Chris's position. The lad did well in the times I've seen him and well it's worth the try, we prospects and some Chelsea friends said he's a good scorer and can play on the wing.

The lad people called Phillip?

Seemed to have pace to burn and quite good on the ball, he pulled away from Ipswich and did this neat flick through for himself to chase which impressed me. I think if he can be  consistent, he will be the type of player we need in some games. Someone who can show a bit of magic!

Fingers crossed firmly he does well for us.

Apparently he changed his name from Phillip to his mother's maiden name Coombe. :huh2:

I don't know much about him and I didn't see the Ipswich match so can't comment but good luck to him, I hope he is a huge success for us.

I've been trying to get this out earlier, although I've found time to be fairly limited the passed few days.

Article - Featuring "New boy Coombes"

Chelsea fan's who I haven't featured give him a glowing report, I had a good response but very slow at first. Many think he could do a job in their first team and especially so if he hadn't become injured. Supposedly Chelsea wasn't keen on the idea of loaning him out because they wanted him to step up into the first team and only agreed a short loan deal to please him.

Have a read :)

I think Notts needs a fast forward who can dribble the defenders and create spaces for the other players. Hope this one is Coombes, but I really don't know him
