Can anyone explain or try to make understanding of why Harry Kewell played Shaun Brisley in midfield against Macclesfield Town?

I think Harry Kewell mentioned that he wanted someone watching Koby Arthur and that it had to be someone defensive minded, I'm not sure otherwise because even if what I believe is correct - it's just a very odd decision.

In my opinion Arthur wasn't prevented, he did a lot of the build up work for Macclesfield and we looked too defensive if anything.

Personally I think it may have been to add a bit of bulk to the back, however to choose to play him as a CM was bizarre and although people can argue and say it worked. I feel it impacted how Notts could play the ball, Noor Husin and Nathan Thomas both looked to get this corrected when they came on.

I can only think that it was purely tactical based. We have Husin, Vaughan etc who could have slotted in nicely but they have a huge CF who needed at least two defenders on him at all times which left no aerial battle in midfield. I guess that is what Brisely's job was at the weekend to win the aerial battles.

no idea, it does not make much sense when you think that anyone could have defended as he did.

I think Harry bottled giving instructions to someone else to be defensive.

It wouldn't surprise me if the club don't end up selling a couple of the midfielders and try to sign a defensive midfielder in January or at least at the end of the season.
