Blog 4 - Christmas

For those interested my fourth blog is all about my childhood Christmas experiences.

Another great read Tony, both you and @super_ram describe it pretty similarly to what my Grandparents say about Christmas when they were young.

 

I don't really remember too much about Christmas when we lived in Nottingham. One thing that stands out is how me and Dad would always jump in the car and drive all around Clifton and Ruddington looking at everyones Christmas lights. Apart from that I remember very little of Christmas, which kind of upsets me with Dad not being with us anymore. It usually was just me, mum and dad together on christmas day as my Grandparents had moved down here to Dorset years before we did.

 

One of our neighbours Cliff would usually pop round for a few hours, he and my Dad knew eachother since their school days and coached a  youth football team together  for many years.

 

These days my Gran and Grandad come to ours for the day. We open our gifts in the morning, have dinner, game of monopoly in the afternoon followed by tea and a DVD in the evening. Always an enjoyable day. And ofcourse, there's always the anticipation of boxing day football, without doubt one of the highlights of the football calander

Christmas is too commercialised these days.TV adverts and shops begin pushing for Christmas in September or even earlier.
