Personally I hope this is just a coincidence, but I wonder what the "new challenge" could be?

Yeah it did get me thinking, especially as Golden’s loan (a Salford player) has been extended too...

I'm also hoping this is just a coincidence. His odds for the Preston job have dropped, maybe he's heading there?

Thank god, this wasn't connected because I do not feel this would've been any better than the appointment the club announced today. Social media is already going to be heavily decisive over the new manager and his capacities as it is.

Jamie Fullerton 2.0 will hopefully be aborted.

It seems I wasn't the only one to make the connection, but I'm glad there was nothing in it. Butt would have been the celebrity manager favoured by one or two of our previous chairmen and absolutely the wrong choice. 

That's the way it would seem, a Trew/Hardy style appointment but there is no guaranteed success by this method. I think the appointment of Ian Burchnall is questionable, it does seem like we are experimenting with a different style of managers.
