Nottingham's long lost tunnel, Great Central Railway

Featured Replies

There used to be a train or tramline just down the road from me, it looks like there used to be a bridge of some kind.

Across Nottingham, there's quite a few of these examples.

Walking back to town from Wilford, I have noticed random railway lines that stat, stop randomly - especially along the tram route.

The tram to Clifton runs beside the old railway embankment from Wilford Bridge to Wilford Lane, then along the old track bed to Ruddington Lane, as the tram turns towards Clifton to the right, one can see the cutting where the railway went to Ruddington...and then the line is intact as a  preserved railway down to Loughborough
