  1. I didn't think Palmer played bad myself; I got more frustrated with Bostock for losing the ball or playing the rushed pass. I mean, when he played a good ball it worked so well, but he was guilty of doing what Rodrigues tends to do when he decides to go for glory, and by that I mean end up being extremely wasteful. Second half Bostock did seem to get his act together. Adebayo-Rowling for me was just poor, always trying to over do his runs towards being predictable when he was going to cross. Defensively clumsy in the first half too. Baldwin had a shocker, but he did well at times and much better in the second half.
  2. No other words can describe how I felt. It's eerily to when Langstaff scored against Halifax. I also confess, I thought the first goal was going to be disallowed due to all the mayhem that happened. So, glad the referee didn't bottle it or cause us to have a setback.
  3. Oh man, what a crazy game! The referee had moments where he seemed to not know what to do and, others where he invented his own rules. I don't think he was biased towards anyone and, did call things quite fair. Yet, missing the players who went down and not instructing them to get up or seek medical attention just seems wrong to me. I think he knew Barnet was trying it on but he needed to be firmer. The first half wasn't that bad, we had times were chances came but Notts tended to rush them. Their goal, 100% our fault and that needs stamping out of our gameplay. I felt Notts could score, but it was one of those games I felt the opposition had more luck. @menzinho yes, I did worry. I said to the lads, that we needed to bring Jones on and score at least before the 65th minute. If Barnet had scored a second, it would've been goodnight in my opinion. They started to make tactical changes, to inject pace and thankfully we started to get our act together. Once we did score, I always felt we could go into win. 4-1 one is a bit flattering, but at the same time we did well in spells. I thought Barnet played alright, a bit dirty and time wasted at 1-0 and 1-1, it suggests to me they felt their lead/draw would disappear. Their manager should've walked, total clown.
  4. Pleased by the result and performance, but Langstaff scoring in our local derby and Chicksen finishing the game for all 3 points. Class!
  5. Blackpool 1-0 Rotherham United Watford 0-2 Blackburn Rovers (Joker) Ipswich Town 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday Peterborough United 0-0 Bolton Wanderers Swindon Town 2-0 Doncaster Rovers Grimsby Town 1-0 Colchester United Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 Solihull Moors Woking 0-2 Boreham Wood
  6. I can't wait to get back to Meadow Lane tomorrow, with @callum2569 and hopefully, @super_pie. Barnet used to be a bit of a bogey team for Notts, but they're a different team now they're in the National League. They're in decent form though, with wins over some of those harder-to-beat teams, so it's going to be interesting for sure. Personally, I would just keep the movement patient and use Nemane's pace to scare their defence into making mistakes. Control the centre of the park, allow Palmer to choose the tempo as and when it's needed to be changed and Langstaff/Scott should do the rest. Rodrigues also can return now correct? Being at full strength could be another blessing for us.
  7. I wonder if this block is worth having and what others may think of the changes I have done to the Dashboard.

  8. The best Notts County squad you have watched in person? I'm torn between the 1998 squad due to the fact we achieved something with such a small squad/injuries and the 2008 squad that won League Two. I'll go with the latter due to sheer enjoyment. The best Notts County player you have ever watched in person? Danny Allsopp he was just quality on the ball. The best Notts County legend you wished you had seen? Don Masson or Tommy Lawton; I'll go with The Don. The best Notts County goalkeeper you have ever seen live? [bonus praise for naming a memory of said keeper within your answer]. I'll go with Steve Cherry, mostly due to the amount of time he spent at the club. I do recall seeing a double reaction save from him at one of my visits to Wembley. I think it was in the Anglo-Itilain Cup final at that time. Basically, he saved a shot and pushed the ball out wide - only for another shot to go low towards the opposite direction of his save. I recall it mostly due to his angry response to the relapse in our defending. You could see that winning meant something to him - it wasn't like Roy Carroll bit**ing, more like a fired up Steven Gerred. The best Notts County defender in your lifetime? Haydn Hollis just to p people off. Mike Edwards I would say, it's a safe punt though. Shall I switch to Jamie Turley? [I actually rated JT during his time but for some reason not many did]. The best skilled Notts County midfielder you have ever watched in person? I'm not sure if I can say Andy Legg, even though I seem to recall him playing further forward. Otherwise, I would say Ruben Rodrigues who is a joy to watch when it works - largely frustrating still. The best Notts County winger who would take on the opposition down the byline in person? The best natural Notts County finisher? Lee Hughes not only for his finishing but his ability to read the game - Danny Allsop was amazing but a totally different striker. The best player to be described as a true underdog during their spell at Notts? Easily Curtis Thompson, I always liked him and thought he worked hard. Unfortunately, I think we never had a squad that could really see him flourish but considering how his careers has gone and where we are. I think it's safe to say we lost a gem and a true definition of an underdog. Also, I think Craig Westcarr was vastly unappreciated by a large portion of our fans but the main answer is easily Curtis Thompson. The best worst player ever to grace a Notts County shirt? I don't recall Guy Branston or Tom Williams, but I would say Richard Duffy. How anyone rated him as a defender is beyond me, I spent most of my time trying to point out his flaws to people who praised him. By the time it caught on, we were already relegated, and he didn't give . is how I describe and remember Beever Boy. The best goal from a Notts County player you have seen in person? I recall Andy Legg scoring from a throw-in only to be disallowed. I think Devon White tried to claim he got a touch on it. That was something special to my young eyes, seeing a ball being thrown so far. Best, best goal is much harder to name, but I really can't name one. The best ex Notts County player you have seen in person? Alan Sheehan comes to mind, did Lee Hughes play against us with Port Vale? I seem to remember it, but I'm not sure. The best future Notts County player you have seen in person? Mark Stallard: When he played against Notts for Bradford, he was easily the best player on the pitch and I hated him for his celebrations against us. He made up for it by joining us though, to which he became one of my all-time favourite players.
  9. So, I thought it would be interesting to see which players get named dropped within a discussion about "the best". Name the following; The best Notts County squad you have watched in person? The best Notts County player you have ever watched in person? The best Notts County legend you wished you had seen? The best Notts County goalkeeper you have ever seen live? [bonus praise for naming a memory of said keeper within your answer]. The best Notts County defender in your lifetime? The best skilled Notts County midfielder you have ever watched in person? The best Notts County winger who would take on the opposition down the byline in person? The best natural Notts County finisher? The best player to be described as a true underdog during their spell at Notts? The best worst player ever to grace a Notts County shirt? The best goal from a Notts County player you have seen in person? The best ex Notts County player you have seen in person? The best future Notts County player you have seen in person? There's a reason for the amount of questions; if you can name them all - great!
  10. I watched every season prior regularly; the moment an episode came out - I'd watch it. I intend to watch the series from the beginning, as it is one of few programmes that @cheeky~k8 will watch with me - even though she has mistaken it for Breaking Bad [of which we started to watch up to the third episode if I recall right]. I might have to go re-watch Breaking Bad first, then Better Call Saul.
  11. I've made some changes to the Dashboard page. If you visit from your mobile it might not appear to be all that different. However, from a desktop there are subtle changes. The main content block currently doesn't show in the responsive mode - this is being investigated. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/dashboard/ I'd comfortably say we're almost as good as we were before the upgrade bar a few broken things.
  12. I didn't get to watch the game, other things came up, but I caught the goals. Langstaff's works his magic for the first goal, I thought theirs was a bit easy. It sounded like they had thrown everything at Notts and put the pressure full on. The amount of bodies, I'm not sure if it could've been dealt with better [other than beating their man]. Chicksen is surreal, different class under Williams. What a vital and convincing win! I'm looking forward to seeing their red card.
  13. The takeaway for me is that his support and loyalty gave him hope when he needed it the most. Incredible story! Rest in Peace, Sonny.
  14. So, it's been rumoured for a while after leaks of trials in South America. Netflix has decided to update its account/password sharing policy, including new and bizarre measures to limit content to a single internet location. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64573517 Personally, I think where people predicted online streaming would defeat broadcast TV. I think we're coming to an era where there will be a major downfall, mostly because of all these companies that are trying to take over the world through their own single service. I mean, password sharing is something Netflix has ignored for years, but I think they're shooting themselves in the foot by introducing a strict policy. Do I agree with account sharing? Do you use Netflix? If not, why did you stop, and what do you think about all this? I personally think if it's within a household or family that otherwise might not get Netflix I see no harm. If it's being done simply to avoid paying for the service, that is where the fault lies. For example: I don't think Netflix should limit mobile usage. See Virgin Media allows up to 5 smart devices to use it's 'On demand' app, Virgin TV Go [some accounts may only have 3 devices I believe]. You register a device that is added to their system - you can use any internet. Whereas Netflix's approach to nail down a single home IP is quite extreme - especially when that limits the actual household. Virgin Media does check for sharing, and they do it in a very logical way, which prevents the issue Netflix faces. However, online streaming services charge a premium for users to avoid ads, and now that they can limit where you can use it is a big problem. It's only a matter of time before either Netflix bails on this new policy due to losing subscribers, or it makes its way into other streaming services such as Prime Video, Hulu, Disney + etc, This has zero effect on me; I haven't subscribed to Netflix for years. I stopped using them due to pulling seasonal films off at the time you'd most likely expect to watch them. I couldn't also justify the price increase. The issue with online streaming services is that everyone wants a slice of the pie, which waters down the appeal and creates further limitations. Meanwhile, most things which are said to be 'exclusive' are shown on normal broadcasts. I can honestly see so many major changes when one falls. ITV and traditional TV stations are adapting to a threat that is as empty as The Nottingham Post being banned from Meadow Lane by Ray Trew.
  15. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @SSTurtle28. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  16. Currently, I am watching The Rockford Files and Baywatch. With Knight Rider on my list to re-watch - I have caught up with stuff such as The Walking Dead (which has now ended), I'm looking forward to the spin-off shows but part of me thinks it won't hold up. I need to watch the final series of Better Call Saul. I need to check out older shows like Murder She Wrote etc. What past TV Shows did you enjoy?
  17. 50/50 in regard to looking forward to this because there's so many excuses and reasons for people to become disgruntled about it. I do feel Chesterfield went out of their way to postpone the original game, although that's happened now. Nothing will change that. The suspension of Ruben will be a loss, however it will give someone else the chance to come in, and really we should be okay. The fixture has the ability to be a high point, where we reflect on the promotion chase in future years. Or, it could become the reason why fans feel things started to become unglued. Personally, I think we'll be fine. Allow Jim O'Brien to come in for Ruben or perhaps let Jodi Jones play in the role - he did it for Coventry quite well in the past. Key thing is to take the approach of any regular game, forget that it's a derby day - this just leads to nerves in my opinion.
  18. I'll be tinkering with the navigation menu, to include - https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/topicfeed/ Which now works fully. -Edit- Facebook connect now works again. Existing users will need to delete their established connection with Facebook in order to get it working. Unfortunately, this doesn't change the Android/IOS app as they have permanently removed the function for web view based browsers. Only full business based browsers such as Chrome are allowed this function. However, the quick and easy connect when using one of these browsers on desktop/tablet/phone will now work. @Dan @gtownjohnno
  19. Bostock's pass was really clumsy and poor for a player of his quality. He's quick to realise and chases after the ball, but at some point his brain tells him to drift away rather than to press more by running more into the channel. Cameron and Chicksen couldn't react better to their bursts to defend, although that's easy for me to say without the adrenaline pumping. Cameron seems to be torn whether to support Bostock or make a move to cover the centre. At the point he commits, he really should try to stay natural to the ball positioning. Chicksen is just in a panic, fleeting back with quite some pace but unaware as to where others are around him. By the time their player receives the ball to pass, you can see we are only just starting to organise ourselves. I don't think the players prepare themselves for what looks like a floating cross into an area where we should have easily covered the ball. To be fair, seeing the highlights, the fault lies across the majority of the team. Starting with the weak pass by Bostock, to the unorganised defending. Slocombe is a little slow to respond to the balls bounce, but his decision to move late - only putting up his left knee sums up the lack of awareness. There's honestly not much he could've done, but a quicker response to play may have seen him cover it. Those in front really should do better, even having bodies behind the opposition player can prevent someone getting on goal. If we didn't have the occasional relapse, I would be worried but from a discussion point it was poor.
  20. They seemed to think long balls would be our undoing, until they realised that this wasn't just the case and resorted to being more physical. It shows the quality in our team now, as this wouldn't have been the result a few seasons ago, we'd have crumbled.
  21. The turn and shot, excellent awareness and placement for his goal. That's the thing about Langstaff, he can play his back to the goal or as a traditional striker - such a clever finisher at this level.
  22. I personally feel we've had better players who did more, which fans never accepted. I think to pluck someone off the top of my head would be the likes of Izale McCloud, or maybe Yoann Arquin. Both these players got branded lazy, however, for me, it's more about Kairo Mitchell's ability. He's had plenty of opportunity to come into the squad and do well, and I am pleased the clubs moved past just having players for the sake of it. We are wanting to improve, that's my stance on Mitchell. I just don't think he's technically all that gifted, aware or a natural striker. Having two very good strikers will always be difficult for a third player, hence why I feel a different type of player could help make Notts less predictable and break up what we do have. Yet, also able to change matches where you just need someone a little different. Heaven forbid one of them gets injured, we'd still need a good player and I personally don't think Mitchell can score more often with a team like our own. Some fans are much more critical and even personal towards him, I think that comes from the typical fan element of the game and having paid an undisclosed fee. It's a good move, one which should've happened a lot sooner. I personally would've shown him the door in the summer, but I suspect we wanted to keep him just in case. He'll probably do well somewhere that aren't as polished as us, somewhere he can settle and fight. Then again, when we signed him from Chesterfield - he was hyped as a goalscorer, something he's never been. Except when he was much lower down, which is probably why he tended to do well in the against those types of sides for us. I also wouldn't buy any arguments about him being a sub or someone played out of position. We simply can do better, that's my view.
  23. Google kept alerting me of goals, but the actual score was 1-2 to us. Until I knew the actual score, I wondered what the hell was going on. Good win for us, it's just a shame about the Wrexham result. It would've been nice had they lost or drawn at least.
  24. What features or parts of the site are missing that you consider to be key? I could prioritize things that I feel make PON better, but that wouldn't exactly benefit everyone. I really could do with some feedback, as it could be months before certain parts are updated properly. I'm hoping most is just outdated PHP, which would need to be upgraded to 8.0 and higher.
  25. Also, thanks to @super_ram for helping with the cost of the upgrade which was desperately needed. Some of the Dashboard widgets are vastly broken and will need extensive time to fix. A lot of the outdated things may need to be dropped from use, or slowly upgraded when costs permit. Fixed: Home/Article pages ✔ Emoji issue ✔ [where they would display properly or seem to have a ghost icon alongside working ones] Dark and Main themes have been updated ✔ Implementing changes to themes ✔ Checking embeds such as YouTube/Twitter ✔ Fix Facebook Login Issue ✔ Check for general content pages that require updating ✔ Advanced Topic Feed has been fixed ✔ Dashboard widgets and features are under review - currently working out parts. Edit and Report buttons have been added back to the post screen ✔ Page updates; Manager - https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/club/manager/ First Team Coaches - https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/club/staff/ In my weekly chores, I have made a note to prioritise certain areas, such as the coach and managers pages, to ensure they are updated as soon as possible. This will be used for clean up; just in case anyone replies.
