  3. I used to love gardening. I do sometimes help out with my dad's garden, but I don't do much for my own now. I got my front and back garden into what is fairly easy to maintain, and now my wife just takes care of the grass. She's planted some flowers, which looks nice in the front. I do miss gardening, but it's not as easy for me these days. I would melt in my front garden, I dug the whole front and back up to level it out many years ago. I struggled with the heat then.
  4. Someone is going to say, "It's a friendly" and that we didn't field our strongest team. Or, maybe that Senegal are a good team. From our perspective, we have to admit that was a poor, poor result. Senegal are always organised, and have a good level of discipline, but England really should be winning these types of games. I can't believe in the comments to the BBC's match report, people are saying things like this. There's some even saying we should sit the next World Cup out. 🤣 I can't really comment too much on Thomas Tuchel, but good league managers does not mean they will be good internationally. I hope for our sakes things improve, because we need to stick with the manager, we made our decision to hire Tuchel. Maybe it goes to show the remarkable work Gareth Southgate did, unless people still believe our nation's team is still the best it's been in decades. Oh, and can you think of a worse way to watch England lose than to be in the City Ground? It only gets more challenging for those who support Notts and were present.
  5. @BradtheMiller, he's one of the managers I'm discreetly wishing for, but not putting a lot of optimism as I don't expect him to come. Yet, I think he would be a superb choice. There's a few which tick the boxes for me, but Leam Richardson is one. It's nice to see you, matey.
  6. A bit more of a productive day for me, at least in terms of PON. The news coming in, it's starting to make me feel like the season is around the corner, instead of radio silence. Not that I think it's unnatural for the club to go quiet, in fact it's perfectly normal and means little. It certainly doesn't mean they are not busy making things happen, as it will be that reason why it has been quiet. It's also nice to have a bit of a laugh, and include banter. 😁 When I get a chance, I want to try to finish some coding stuff that I can do. Progress is being made, which is a good thing. No real news otherwise, c'mon and join in folks. Tell us about your day.
  7. I won't be, unless you can get a temporary passport. There are a few things I really need to tick off, one being able to travel abroad. I hope the fans who do attend enjoy themselves. Games like this, they're always something different and interesting compared to your run-of-the-mill friendlies.
  8. The Latest Discussions widget currently in place, it's just a makeshift feed. I've mentioned in the discussion about this pending upgrade that Terabyte mentioned that upgrading our custom widget wouldn't be possible with two features, plus a further 2 hooks no longer exist. The team behind the software, they have built this from the ground up, so hooks may return in the future as many have already, but I have revised my plan. I am not sure when exactly the replacement will be ready at this stage. There are various pending and in the works upgrades. I know what you mean though, thanks for your comment and feedback.
  9. Here we are, Tony, Robbie and Super Ram. 😉
  10. Notts County have signed Tom Iorpenda on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Town.
  11. Please tell me, is it an Alf Stewart type hat? 😍
  12. Poor Mrs T. Please tell her I hope she feels better soon. I dislocated my ankle play fighting with Jake during my holiday on the beach, and from previous times with my knee. I know the sand is an unkind place to hurt yourself.
  13. What are the chances of a team like us actually playing someone like him? It seems slim. I liked Lewis Knight, but we never really played him in his natural position. We didn't really play him at all, and when we did he was thrown on in a game where the opposition was clattering our players and he got took out. His injury did impact him, but not as much as the refusal to actually give him a chance did. Honestly, he ended up being better than Junior Morias, even though both of them are really fast. Knight could be one, if not the fastest footballer I have ever seen. Good video on Jake Tabor's mind, I do hope he makes it to the EFL and it's good to see him stick with his team during the season.
  14. I just meant that Jack Wheeler didn't need the wet sponge. Just the magic in his hands, and the experience he had from being such a good coach. 👍🏻
  15. Rest in Peace, Uriah Rennie. An old school referee from fond memories of watching Match of the Day.
  16. @gtownjohnno, Jack Wheeler didn't even need that from all the stories I have been told.
  17. @liampie, he was one of the rumour mill head coaches linked to us. His experience isn't all that bad, but ending up in England and in League Two seemed unlikely. EFL experience would be very nice, but I wish him well with his new role.
  18. Hello, @Johnnykingofthepies. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I am pleased that you have taken the time to join us. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  19. @NiftyNick, we have to look to the future now. If lessons are being learned, then it's just going to help elevate Notts to the next level. With players who have an injury history, we might be able to get the best out of them more. Individuals like Jodi Jones and Lucas Ness come to mind.
  20. It sounds like it's a good thing, as I have mentioned, I believe we could be much better in the fitness department, something we seem to have lost with Luke Williams. Not that I felt we were miles away, but some players tended to appear like they struggled in spells. It also makes me wonder if the club feels certain players haven't quite been at the grade they went in terms of fitness when signing. Will Randall seems to stick out as a player who never looked exactly what was advertised, we will have to wait and see.
  21. There are some good options being rumoured. I don't think the club are rushing to appoint the next head coach for various reasons, but I am quite happy to sit back until the official announcement is made. Usually, it's never who you want, but I would like to think Notts are exploring all promising options. @Piethagoram, what about Colby Bishop returning home? He's been released by Portsmouth. (I believe. I probably should ask, as it goes off-topic)
  22. How does the work permit aspect work with managers? The EFL and FA don't seem to be very clear about the rules appointing coaches/managers outside of the United Kingdom.
  23. I'm not a big fan of the term "plan B", but I know what people mean by it. Football shouldn't be based on rigid tactics all the time, there should be a general approach, and tactics do generally fall within a system. I just think, if managers or head coaches have tactic A, tactic B, tactic C etc. It takes some adjustment switching, and whilst I would say Stuart Maynard didn't show much understanding of turning games around. I don't think he ever really had the understanding of how being less formal can make the opposition ask questions of how we would play. It would be nice if we could switch formations much easier, based on the starting XI and the players available on the bench. As such, this might be a fallback plan, but I would hope our next head coach can read how games are actually going. Usually, there are signs that we will concede. It starts with pressure in controlling the ball at the back and playing it straight to the keeper the moment a player can't make a forward pass. It would be much easier if instructions were being given, and the moment one of our players is struggling in-game, thoughts are made as to how to overcome it. Some managers sit back, hoping the quality will prevail, but a lot of people say we need a leader on the pitch. I think it starts with who is in charge of the squad. At our level, every coach will have different abilities in areas of their management style, but I do think a better understanding of how a game is going would help with the mistakes we can make and the lack of concentration. Another point, I would have thought a manager would think about why we don't score from corners often, something which comes from the training ground.
  24. Hello, @PieHard. I have to say I like your nick! It's great to see more plays on the word "Pie". Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community. If you wouldn't mind, would you care to tell us a little bit about yourself, such as your background in supporting the mighty pies?
  25. Hello, @Simon Jackson. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, it's great to be saying hello to you! Feel free to reach out if you need any help, but for now please enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
