  1. @Fan of Big Tone well my lads been to a couple of Notts games last season and wants to go to more tbf. He pays attention a little but cause we go with friends and their daughter, they play together and keep themselves occupied. My daughters also asked to come along one time aswell, but she does dance on a Saturday so it's not doable really. Living outside of Notts, it's only Saturday 3pm or before I can really attend unfortunately. @Chris oh absolutely, was over the moon with it all. I bet your mum was looking down smiling over it all mate
  2. @Chris it definitely made my day when they wrote these and handed them to me. They might not show as much attention to the game but they know how much it meant.
  3. I sincerely hope we can replicate something similar. Under this management and ownership, I can't see why it wouldn't be possible. Luton's rise has been unbelievable. I remember them being in the Conference on -30 points. Just think 5 years ago, we were playing both Luton and Coventry in League 2. They both have a chance to gain promotion to the Premier League. We can only dream of replicating something similar, although I feel like it needs to be gradual.
  4. Watched this video multiple times The media team deserves a lot of credit for what they've put together. It's an emotionally fantastic watch. Love the song choice too
  5. @Chris in a weird way, I'm glad he missed it. Meant that Scott was left to bag the winning penalty.
  6. 7 dinked penalties out of 9 penalties scored is an impressive stat. Love how they put Panenka Enthusiast in brackets under his name and earned the nickname Johnenka Was really hoping he was gonna say he did it for Cedwyn Scott to be the hero and a bit of redemption
  7. Quite like Nemane tbf. He's always looking for space down the wing, not afraid to directly go at players, get down the wing and try make things happen. He had a field day at Wembley, being a wide pitch.
  8. @liampie my lads 6 and my daughter's nearly 8. Meant a lot this did. Absolutely, had the result gone the other way they'd have probably made another special one about commiserations. They both have creativity in this type of area. Will definitely be cherished as a memory and when/if they get into football like their old man, I'll be showing them this back as the time we got back in to the Football League and the thoughtfulness shown by them to make something special. It's things like these that make me happy and proud.
  9. Was wondering when stories like this might start appearing. I feel like Luke Williams has love for Notts and has found a home here. Especially when he's achieved as much as he has in his first season in charge. He's gonna want to keep building a legacy with this team. Can't see him being interested in going elsewhere anytime soon.
  10. @DangerousSausage as I say, more does need to be to look in to why there isn't more BAME managers around. But using statistics as to how many there are rather than how many apply and are unsuccessful then as to why needs to also take place in this conversation. There is an issue, as said in that quote that means people from certain backgrounds can't make it for different reasons. But, as for the high profile manager situation, I was referring to the podcast quote. Because you quite often see about skin being an issue when in fact better qualified managers might be ahead of them. Also, as mentioned the counter argument is that Gerrard and Lampard got given jobs after retirement based on name and career so why not BAME managers who need to get a start somewhere? Kompany has managed to get in to a decent enough job so that could be a new start.
  11. My kids don't pay too much attention to Football but whenever it involves England or Notts County they always cheer for them. Following Saturday's win and Notts getting back in to the Football League, both kids decided to write me these notes for me. Loved it when they both handed me them.
  12. The pressure was more on Notts than Chesterfield for this one. 107 points, 117 goals and still not enough to win the title. Football can be a cruel game and in these one off games the season means nothing. Fortunately for us, we got the job done and back in the Football League. It felt like one of those games where nothing was going right and it just wasn't going to happen for us. Langstaff shooting wide after being played through by Palmer, Austin sending his shot high. We did lack abit of quality in the final 3rd though. Everything was good building up to break Chesterfield down but despite being in some good positions we just couldn't get anything to materialised and things broke down and crosses going astray. Nemane did well down the right hand side and caused a lot of problems. Bostock for me was MOTM controlled the game well and let off some good passing play. On first glance, I thought the penalty was a soft decision but having seen it a few times it was the right call. The substitution to bring on Mair in preparation for penalties from Luke Williams was a stroke of genius and well thought it. Both his saves were brilliant, especially his second. I have to admit, I've watched that save more than anything else in this game When Bostock stepped up to take his penalty, I thought the win was in the bag. No idea why he thought it was good idea in that situation to try a panenka. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he missed on purpose to give Cedwyn Scott a chance at redemption for his missed penalty against Wrexham and allow him to score the winning penalty to take us back in to the Football League One thing about this game and the one against Boreham Wood is the fact that this team does not quit and they show real heart to get the job done.
  13. Even if just for one more season, I would love Macca to stay. I wouldn't be surprised if clubs are going to come knocking, there's a lot of attention on him after this season. I think if he were to leave, we'd get a decent fee for him but it has to be 2.5m+. I'd suspect Championship level would take him. Neil Warnock said on the Magpie Circle that he'd have him at Huddersfield if he could and that he's a striker well suited to that level. If he was to leave, as much as it would be devastating, I think we'd get a decent fee and I'm confident in the management team and the owners to find a well capable replacement or another to step up and be counted.
  14. @liampie I'm glad you highlighted Paul Ince and Sol Campbell as examples. I quite often use them in a conversation like this. I can't remember who it was on a podcast I listened to a while back but they had it bang on. It went something like this.. "it shouldn't be based on statistics as to how many BAME managers there are in the game, maybe they should look more in to how many are applying in the first place and finding out the reasons why they didn't get hired. Chances are there is someone more qualified than them that get given the job." I think this is a fair assessment. If you had for example - Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, Paul Ince and Sol Campbell going for a top managers job then chances are it's gonna be Jose, Pep or Carlo because they are more proven rather than basing it on skin. However, there is a counter argument that the likes of Gerrard and Lampard have been given decent jobs when retiring. You could argue their playing career had an effect on hiring but Sol Campbell had a decent career so why wasn't he able to start hire up. Obviously as mentioned now we've seen him manage there's a reason. I think more needs to be looked in to as I stated about the podcast I listened to about how many are actually applying and why they aren't getting hired and how someone else got there ahead of them.
  15. The substitution was rewarding for Notts. Great substitution to make in preparation for penalties. Both penalty saves were terrific. Especially the second one. That tweet is bang on the money, it is without doubt an incredible penalty save. Guessed the right way, got all of his body behind the ball and magically saving it with his left foot. Truly impressive stuff.
  16. @liampie well some of the fans may have. Others, however, have maintained throwing the digs on social media. But, it does show great sportsmanship in this regard of showing support to us.
  17. @Dry Nelson Ray yeah I think the football will take number 1 priority and be the true showcase. Sometimes the media enjoys to take it away for something like this. I can't see that being the case though.
  18. Exceptional article this. It's never easy being a Notts fan and this article shows just how much we've suffered in years gone by. Another thing this article brings is that the Reedtz brothers are steadying this club and building a foundation of positivity rather than negativity. As well as this it demonstrates how much we've improved and how much everyone involved has bought excitement that this could be the year we get back in the EFL.
  19. @Chris some of the light does get taken away from the club of course, due to him being who he is. I don't think it is or was ever his intention to be that way. It's also generated more eyes on the National League, which is a positive for everyone involved. Hopefully it doesn't become the Ryan Reynolds show, as the media can often turn things, and it's purely about the football.
  20. @Piethagoram that tweet is spot on. They do actually get involved, not just with their own club but football in general.
  21. @Fozzy @CliftonMagpie He's a player I quite often signed on Football Manager back in the day and he seemed to fit the bill so had to take a punt on him. I've read a lot of articles about him since he got diagnosed with MND.
  22. @CliftonMagpie I think it's a combination of him being a nice guy and also Notts earning his respect. Have to give Rob and Ryan credit though, they come across as decent owners. Attending games, talking sensible about Football and having the knowledge too. There's an opinion about them both being Hollywood but at least they do things for Wrexham that other owners like these don't.
  23. Some people may have an issue with this given who he is, owner of the team we've slugged it out with over the course of the season for the title, and I do get that. As for myself I don't have an issue with it, I can't see this being anything other than a good thing for Notts. Any chants that come his way as @Chrismentioned, he'll take them all day long and just laugh them off. I genuinely feel like he wants us to go up. Especially with how highly he's spoken of Notts during the season and being very vocal on the 3 up 3 down situation.
  24. Gonna take a guess at a player we had on loan as he seems to fit all the above and say Stephen Darby.
