Centre Backs for Notts this summer?
This doesn't make any sense with our recruitment model. Searching for the best players currently under contract in L2 and L1 = £££. That's Wrexham's model, not ours. Why not the NL? Macari had a loan at the Irish league, they're hardly worlds apart. Langstaff, Scott came from below the NL. Crowley was a free agent.

Ratings v Colchester
LAH - 5 - What was he doing with that long range effort? Bizarre Macari - 6.5 - Solid Baldwin - 6.5 - Solid Cameron - 6.5 - Solid Namane - 6.5 - More consistent Jones - 6.5 Robertson - 7 - So much more bite with him in the middle JOB - 7.5 - Class-act today. Crowley - 6.5 Austin - 6.5 Langstaff - 6 - Scored, eventually. Colchester were diabolical.

Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
Agreed. This is the most frustrating part of SMs tenure for me. It seemed LW had a handle on our defensive frailties, and by that I mean he knew all about them and focussed on attacking or at least keeping the ball and not allowing the opposition to attack us too much. That seemed to be the high level plan, with varying success. SM seems to try and sit back, which inevitably leads to failure as our defence is dog toffee. This essentially is creating stress in the weakest part of our structure and being repeatedly surprised when it buckles.

Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
??!! Luke Williams is the reason we have a L2 team to support next season and not a National League team. Let it be clear; if the team performed for LW like they have for SM, we'd be back in the pit of misery next season.

Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
Was he? Didn't seem injured to me. Bostock was the wrong sub to bring on, lost the midfield from that point. McGoldrick didn't look fit. I'm sorry, you can fanboy for SM all you like, but 1 single point at home does not constitute 'a good game for Stuart'.

Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
The overwhelming feeling is that we are just woeful at defending. The slightest bit of pressure almost guarantees the opposition a goal. Substitutions almost cost us the game. Energy that Austin brings completely lost when Bostock was brought on. Taking your best defender off and bringing on Warner is baffling. The kids on twitter proclaimed him to be the next van Dijk, however the more I see him the worse he becomes. Not a clue how to position himself defensively. Jatta off was another strange sub.

I was being realistic.

Match Discussion: Game 36 - The Bantams (A)
This really is the battle of the terrible. Somehow, Bradford are winning that battle so far and showing themselves to be even worse than we are. Cameron and Warner winning the mini battle of the terrible for Notts so far. They're both begging to gift a goal away.

Match Discussion: Game 33 - The Exiles (A)
It was a really good performance to make the form team in the league look extremely below par. Very daring by Stewart Maynard to switch formations and keeper in the same game. I'm sure, to coin a Paul Mace phrase, the social media numpties, have now 180'd quicker than Jodi Jones. Keeper looked excellent with his feet and distribution on the whole. Made the correct decision time and time again, could tell her was trusted by the defence too. However, had a couple of dodgy moments with the ball in hand. I think that's what we'll have to settle for with him, brilliant on the deck, always a mistake in him though. Jodi Jones is just different class. He's far beyond L2 level. Robertson fantastic last night. Dominated the midfield by covering every blade and being really effective with the ball at his feet. Cameron's performance was concerning. Most of Newport's danger moments came from his side. The amount of time attackers could run in behind him was evident, plus his slow reaction time. Lucky Baldwin covered for him for the most part. He was however, much more dominant in the air.

Match Discussion: Game 32 - The Gills (H)
Extremely poor. Stone isn't the keeper we need. All this talk about defending as a unit, but the back 3 plus keeper can't clear basic crosses to the back stick. Mcgoldrick was poor again. Not sure how his second touch at times is so poor. Langstaff poor. Some very good chances he squandered. Bostock looks lost and / or knackered. Nemane is such a strange footballer. He has all the skills and attributes, but his decision making is shocking. It's easier to say who I thought had a decent game; Baldwin, Jones and Robertson.

James Sanderson
Looked decent when we've seen a few glimpses. Hopefully he can push on and impose himself from the bench in the short term

Match Discussion: Game 26 - Super White Army (A)
Stone still celebrating new years before remembering to dive. 1-0 tranny
-
Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
Surprisingly played fairly well. Thing we have to give the MoM to the Stockport commentators, for being the most clueless commentators in the league. Think I remember them from the National League, like basketball fans trying to commentate on football.

Stone with an excellent assist.

Match Discussion: Game 22 - Sulphurites (A)
Some fantastic defending by Brindley there to allow Harrogate their first. /Sarcasm
-
Match Discussion: Game 1 - The Us (A)
Yeah, or Tipton I guess. The height issue isn't brindley's fault. Not being able to fight to win a ball or the inability to pass to a teammate, is.
-
Match Discussion: Game 1 - The Us (A)
The weak link defensively, which we all suspected, was laid bare today. Brindley, atrocious. There's nothing positive to say about that performance. Like he's playing on autopilot, with serious software defects. Stone, abysmal. What goes through your head to make a challenge outside the box with your hands in that situation, god only knows. Fitzsimmons-esque in being glued to his line for their first. Slocombe isn't be the best keeper for this level, but he's better than his supposed replacement. There were many bad performances today, but the above 2 stand out for being completely inept

Match Discussion: Game 21 - The Bees (H)
Slocombe - 7.5 - Not at fault for their opener. Did his job well and made the right choice again and again. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. Can't say I quite made it out in the Kop. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Cameron - 8 - Thought he was excellent. Barely a foot wrong. Baldwin - 5 - Wayward passes, making wrong choices, bad touches... it's going to happen with the role he plays. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. In the right position at the right time, again. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Rawlinson - 7 - Love Rawlo. Warrior. TAR - 6 - Decent going forward, but was run ragged by their winger. Palmer - 5.5 - Gets away with 'bad' (as in below par for him) performances sometimes. Didn't get away with it here, was terrible in the first half. Improved in the second. Bostock - 6.5 - Poor in the first half. Improved considerably in the second. Rodrigues - 6 - A little bit off it tonight. Tries all the risky balls and majority didn't come off today, but didn't shy away and kept trying the balls. Think he hit the post, too. Scott - 8 - Rats around and does a lot of stuff that goes unnoticed. Scores - again. Could've been an assist - couldn't tell from the Kop. Langstaff - 8 - His goal looked superb, but again would like to see the replay. See he was attributed the fourth - not sure how much of a touch he got on that. Jones - 7.5 - Thought he was threatening again. Some questionable defensive actions, but you expect that when you have a winger in a defensive role. Austin - 7 - Good contribution off the bench. Vincent - 7.5 - Thought he was excellent off the bench. Great touches, desire.... everything you want.

Match Discussion: Game 31 - The Gulls (A)
I initially thought their goal came from a Baldwin error, he misses his header and allows an easy finish to their striker. Having seen the highlights, however, it's not his fault and he's effectively marking their only 2 men in the box when we have 4 'defending' in the immediate vicinity: It's a counter-attack from a corner. Bad pass from Bostock, but not one we shouldn't recover from. We do a good job in getting numbers back defending, but I think it is Palmer who should be picking up his man and Ruben (?) helping him out. Midfielders and attackers though, don't always have the 'defenders brain' and see the danger incoming. Rawlinson certainly does see it, and is indicating as much. Rodrigues is more concerned with returning to his normal position and Palmer is ball-watching: By the time the cross comes in, Ruben is too late and Palmer is massively out of position, perhaps trying to close down the pass to midfield when that's easily already covered by Bostock: The reaction by Rawlo is pure frustration at the lack of defending basics: Stick with your man and don't get attracted to the ball. Rodrigues pointlessly barely moves with his hand in the air claiming an offside where there clearly isn't one; Palmer is chasing shadows. .

Match Discussion: Game 37 - The Shrimpers (A)
We're not fantastic away but we're getting to the point in the season where games become must-win if we're serious about play-offs.
-
Match Discussion: Game 24 - The Bees (H)
Barnet's results have picked up recently; they've beat Torquay, Woking and Maidenhead and drawn with Boreham Wood. By no means a given that we beat them, they are not the same calamity Harry Kewell side we pasted on the opening day.

Match Discussion: Game 21 - The Linnets (A)
Chances of today's game being on? 20%?

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Ravens (H)
I have a feeling that Bromley are getting the rub of the green at the minute; I've watched a lot of their highlights and many of their goals are scrambles that somehow finds its way in. No doubt their a good side, but they will have a period where that doesn't stick. Not saying they're a bad side, just a bit unfortunate we got them while their going well.
-
Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Ravens (H)
Pretty much how they got their goal against us: long ball into the box, win the first header then scramble.
