  1. It feels like a clear sign that none of the trialists have stood out enough to earn a deal. You’d think the best ones would’ve been signed already, especially with the season coming up quickly. I’m still hoping the club announces at least one new signing before the Cardiff match. It would give fans a boost and show things are moving in the right direction. Replacing Alex Bass is important. We need someone solid in goal, and sooner rather than later, so we’re not going into the season with uncertainty at the back.
  2. Connie Francis was a talented singer who faced many challenges with strength. Her music touched hearts, and she’ll be remembered fondly. Rest in peace.
  3. It’s been a slow and peaceful Wednesday so far, which is a welcome change after how busy things have been lately. I keep checking to see if Notts have announced any new signings, but things look like they’re settling down ahead of League Two. I’m hoping there’s something good on telly later. It’s strange how people don’t seem to talk about live TV as much these days. With the way today’s ticking along nicely, it’ll be a treat to sit back with a beer and enjoy a quiet moment, not feeling like you’re roasting away in the heat.
  4. Always nice to see a player come in with a bit of family history in the game too, think it gives them that bit of extra grounding. Hasney was a decent pro back in the day, so Sonny will have grown up around the right habits. United fans seem to rate him highly and if he does well here it’s a win-win. Just hope we can give him enough minutes to really kick on. Great that the club are being proactive early instead of waiting around.
  5. I didn’t know Kim personally, but reading this made me wish I had. Her dedication to Notts goes far beyond what most fans do, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to face what she is now, but she’s doing it with grace and courage. If anyone deserves a bit of joy and help ticking off their bucket list, it’s her. Hope she gets everything she wishes for.
  6. If Jatta had gone to Germany, it might’ve sparked more talk about him leaving. In football, there’s always gossip around players, and sometimes staying behind can cause even more questions. Supporters need to take a step back and not jump to conclusions. The way the club is run, and which players come or go, isn’t something fans can control. Decisions are made behind the scenes, and we often don't know the full story. The focus should stay on the matches in Germany. They’re important and shouldn’t be distracted by speculation. Whatever kept Jatta from travelling is something we’ll just have to accept.
  7. Life comes with ups and downs, laughter and sadness. Through it all, there's one song that always lifts my spirits, Louis Armstrong’s β€œWhat a Wonderful World.” At times life feels bleak, but that song somehow makes it all seem better. When it plays, the dark moments fade. You can’t help but feel lighter. It’s a song that never gets old. A true classic that people will keep listening to for years to come. And when Louis gently says, β€œAnd I think to myself…” it fills me with warmth. It reminds me of the good times, and I feel grateful.
  8. It was a good workout for both sides. Alfreton Town are always a tough test. I was happy to see Paterson name what looked like a strong starting eleven. I was actually expecting a more experimental line-up, so that was a nice surprise. Both our sides gave a good showing, and Alfreton weren’t far off scoring a couple of times themselves.
  9. He seems like a good signing. I like that he’s direct and has a bit of pace. Him wanting to take players on is something we don’t see enough, only Jodi Jones and Will Jarvis really offer that kind of threat. Kellan Gordon doesn’t look confident running with the ball, though he does deliver a great cross. I’d like to see more of Nick Tsaroulla in the starting line-up. There’s definitely space to switch it up and try a few in central attacking roles, not just out wide.
  10. I’m not fully convinced the sale will go as smoothly as the recent news suggests. These same buyers have shown interest before, so I wouldn’t be shocked if things drag on a bit. Still, I really hope it goes through.
  11. Hello, @theAnticlough. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham. It's nice to see you joining in already, a long season lies ahead for us but there will be plenty to discuss no doubt. Pleased to see you join.
  12. Hello, welcome to Pride of Nottingham @Daisy-Mae. It's good to be welcoming you to the site.
  13. Welcome aboard @James Macdonald! Hope you enjoy the banter, the insights, and the love for Notts County.
  14. Hello and welcome @Peter Thornley! We’re pleased to have another Magpie joining us at PON, welcome our nest.
  15. David Button, Jack Payne, Sylvester Jasper, Chris Long, and Jack Bridges would be good choices to fill the gaps we’ve got. Bridges is more of a left-sided player, but that could actually help. It would let Jodi Jones move into David McGoldrick’s role, or even give Will Jarvis a go there. Nick Tsaroulla and Kellan Gordon could do a job down the right. Chris Long would bring the kind of experience we’ve been missing up front. Jasper would get a chance to prove himself in English football, and David Button’s know-how in goal would be a big plus. Even at 36, Button could be a smart signing and a good mentor for young Harry Griffiths.
  16. Good read! Still have to see how Paterson does yet, we need to see how he handles a run of poor results.
  17. We’ve not had a keeper like Alex Bass in a long time. It felt like he still had room to grow, and that his progress could go hand in hand with the club’s. I trusted him completely to keep us in games, and more often than not, he did just that. Peterborough have picked up a really good goalkeeper, and I hope it goes well for him. He’s left behind a big gap to fill, and it does hurt a bit, especially when you think about the other talented players we’ve sold recently. On one side, we are bringing in money, but on the other, it makes you wonder where we might be if we’d kept hold of that talent.
  18. Hello, @Ash. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. Keep posting and enjoying what the site has to offer.
  19. He doesn’t seem too happy about the move, but hopefully he sees it as a chance to keep his football journey going. A good spell at Notts, getting some time in the first team, could help him work his way back to the level where clubs first noticed him. It’s great to have a young goalkeeper with this much promise. He’s clearly well rated, and that kind of talent could be a real boost for the squad.
  20. We’ve signed a young goalkeeper from Forest called Harry Griffiths. I’d imagine he’s come in as backup rather than to start. I’ve never heard of him before, so it’ll be interesting to see what he’s like. https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/2025/june/30/departure--alex-bass/
  21. The decision to implement a more structured and formalised approach within the club is intriguing. It seems like a step towards modernising operations, which could potentially align everyone with the club's strategy more effectively. However, I do wonder about the balance between data-driven decisions and the human element of football. While data can provide valuable insights, the unpredictability of the game and the importance of team dynamics shouldn't be underestimated. It's a bold move, and I hope it pays off in terms of performance and results. The club's willingness to adapt and evolve is commendable, but it will be interesting to see how this new system integrates with the existing culture and traditions of the club.
  22. I thought Tyler Miller might be our backup, but he likely doesn’t want to be second choice at a League Two club. That’s fair enough. Whoever we bring in does need to be good enough to step up when needed. We can’t afford a big drop in quality if Bass is out. As for the youth keepers, from what I’ve seen, they’re a bit on the small side and haven’t looked all that convincing in training.
  23. This morning wasn’t too bad up until about 2pm. Things really took a turn around 5, though, it felt like everything had been shoved into an oven. There’s a nice breeze now, which is lovely. But earlier on, there wasn’t much of one at all where I was.
  24. Replicas are often a bit different, but many are far off the mark. A good retro shirt stays true to its original design, and this one is a smart take on a popular kit. Once the new shirts are released, I think we’ll see plenty of fans wearing this one.
  25. I hope they can make it look as good as it should. Once cleaned and repainted, the bridge would be a million times nicer to look at.
