  1. Platt’s comments after the game really reflect the mentality of the team right now, keeping things tight at the back and waiting for the right moment to strike. It wasn’t the most exciting first half, but it’s games like this where you need to stay patient. Matty did that perfectly, and his goal from Palmer’s corner was well deserved. His performances have been consistently strong this season, and getting that second goal early on in the season will give him plenty of confidence moving forward. The team as a whole looked more disciplined, especially defensively, which was great to see after the last couple of home results. Onwards and upwards!

  3. I hope we can get the win, but a large part of me believes it will be another draw. I don't know much about the current AFC Wimbledon squad, but I've seen their highlights. They come across as a team unafraid to take chances. In some ways, I wish Notts would mix their direct approach with taking efforts when space opens up. We only have David McGoldrick and Dan Crowley who do this. I'm not bothered who scores, as long as we do. I would be more encouraged to see us less shy to have shots at goal.
  4. I am voting for Kellan Gordon. I thought he was great in the first half and gave Chesterfield a lot to worry about. They probably felt relieved when he went off, but I still think he deserves my vote, even though he didn't play the full 90 minutes.
  5. Honestly, I think we showed some real grit despite the result. We dominated possession, created decent chances, and I loved the energy on the pitch, especially from Gordon and Abbott. It's just disappointing we couldn’t get past a team that, on paper, we probably should have. Sometimes, it just doesn’t fall our way, but the team is playing well, and I’m optimistic for the rest of the season. We’ve got the talent, we’ve got the passion, and with a bit more luck, I believe we’ll start turning these performances into wins. We move on, heads held high!

  7. I think Maynard’s approach to this derby is perfect—keep calm, focus on the team, and don’t get drawn into the occasion too much. Chesterfield are a tough side, and it’s no surprise they’re performing well. But the way Maynard spoke about our away form and how we’ve been unlucky at home gives me a lot of hope. His point about teams sitting back at Meadow Lane really makes sense. On the road, we’ve got that bit more space to play, and it’s shown in our results. If we can stay consistent and take our chances, I think we’ll come away with a result.
  8. I wish we had scored before they did. I think it would have ended 1-1. The game had a draw written all over it, but Notts lacked sharpness on goal today. In a different scenario, Notts could have won, and that’s the disappointing part about the result. Kellan Gordon looked good, with some decent crosses, but Jatta was isolated most times and unable to involve himself.
  9. Maynard’s comments on squad depth show how much he values every player. Everyone has a role to play, and it's exciting to watch.
  10. Coventry City 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday Watford 2-1 Middlesbrough Mansfield Town 0-1 Blackpool Rotherham United 2-1 Reading Accrington Stanley 1-2 Morecambe Swindon Town 2-0 Harrogate Town Eastleigh 0-1 Forest Green Rovers Joker Halifax Town 1-0 Tamworth
  11. Playing against a side like Port Vale, we can’t afford to be complacent. I’ve got my eye on Macari, his positioning and decision-making will be key against a dynamic opposition. With Port Vale being unbeaten in their last five, it’ll be tough. But our recent performances at home give me hope. If our defence holds strong and the wing-backs provide width, we might find joy in the wide areas. Let’s make Meadow Lane a place to fear for visiting teams!
  12. Gordon’s recent interview really highlights why local players can have such a big impact on a team. He’s more than just a footballer going through the motions. It’s clear from his words that his mentality is strong and supportive, not just concerning his own career but also in the context of larger team goals at Notts. There’s something intrinsically uplifting about being close to family, and Gordon’s candid remarks reflect how this has had a transforming effect on him as a player. The warmth and connectivity he feels can surely translate into positive outcomes on the pitch.
  13. For me, it’s Alex Bass all day. What a performance! He made that one crucial save towards the end, which could have easily been a goal. His awareness and timing were perfect throughout the match. Whenever Carlisle tried to get back into the game, Bass was there to deal with it. He’s got this calmness about him that spreads to the rest of the defence, and you could see it last night. His confidence in dealing with set-pieces and crosses gave us a real advantage.
  14. Norwich City 1-2 Leeds United Sunderland 1-1 Derby County Birmingham City 0-1 Huddersfield Town Crawley Town 0-3 Mansfield Town Joker Leyton Orient 1-1 Exeter City Doncaster Rovers 1-2 Barrow Newport County 2-0 Salford City Tranmere Rovers 1-1 Swindon Town
  15. It’s always tough to see a player like Jodi sidelined with an injury, especially when it could have been avoided with better officiating. His frustration is understandable, and it’s something the league must address. Despite the setback, Jodi’s positivity and commitment to returning stronger is heartening. His connection with the fans and his determination to support the team even while injured shows his character. We need to keep the spirits high and show our support for both Jodi and the rest of the team.
  16. I want to see the defence stand up to Carlisle United and make sure that they won’t try to pen us back in our own half. Morecambe did that well, and it could be something teams try to latch onto. We need to be direct, unafraid to get fouled but protect ourselves in the process. I believe the team is good enough. So, fingers crossed for a win but it won’t be easy. David McGoldrick needs support to be at his best on goal.
  17. Well done to David McGoldrick; he deserved it.
  18. It doesn’t bother me; there used to be just one shirt at the beginning of football and no alternative. It’s best to reserve the traditional design for Meadow Lane.
  19. That will include time for his break to heal and for him to get back into training. It could have been six months if it was a worse and more serious break, so let’s just wish Jodi Jones all the best with his recovery.
  20. While Morecambe’s form has been poor, they’re still a dangerous side if we let our guard down. Their biggest threat will likely come from set pieces, so we need to stay organised defensively. I’m excited about the potential impact Josh Martin could make. That said, it’s Dan Crowley’s midfield play that I think will be crucial today. He’s been brilliant for us this season, and his ability to find space and create chances has been key. If we can control the midfield and cut off Morecambe’s supply lines, we should be able to take the three points.
  21. Middlesbrough 1-3 Stoke City Millwall 3-1 Preston North End Blackpool 1-4 Burton Albion Wigan Athletic 2-3 Exeter City Gillingham 2-1 Barrow Newport County 2-0 Crewe Alexandra ????Joker Woking 1-1 Sutton United Yeovil Town 1-2 Aldershot
  22. Good move. His first game reunites him with Tiernan Brooks, who’s at Gateshead. We can’t read too much into the fact Boston lost 2-0. Gateshead are a good team.
  23. Good win for Notts, with a lot of young special talent in the team. It’s great the win came with so many of our younger players featuring. It’s also nice to see Sam Austin on the scoresheet.
  24. At least we know it’s his ankle ligaments. Hopefully, it won’t be as punishing as damage to his muscles or a break would have been. When he comes back, he will continue to make a difference. He has impressed, and I thought we missed him against Gillingham.
  25. Retiring isn’t the best option, but finishing his career in the best way possible would be good for him. I can’t see him fighting for another title, but he should go for boxers like Tyson Fury. Anthony Joshua is a likeable boxer who could continue for at least another five years.
