  1. I would hope that a manger can get something out of Aborah as its never good to see any professional wasting ability, however, its clear to see that all managers at ML since Moniz have found his attitude lacking or he , if his ability isn't in question, would have started on a regular basis ...it really is that simple. The fact remains that he has made limited starts at every club he has been at , not just Notts, and that tells a story of a player who wont put a shift in or has other issues. I'm a fan and I'll take someone with limited ability who will run through a wall for me rather than a talent who will turn up when it suits them. Football fans pay to get entertained.... but they also want to see players who care about the club they love and will give as much as effort as the fans would if they got the opportunity to pull their clubs strip on themselves. Every player has a chance to make the most of what gifts, fitness, attitude, charisma, strength they have ...Aborah unfortunately didn't make the most of his which is a shame but there is light on the horizon for Notts right now, no point looking back ...its the players at ML who need support now , not ones who didn't contribute during the tough times
  2. I took some stick on here some time ago about Aborah and I for one think Notts will fair much better without him. A poisonous influence and also an individual who was disingenuous with the fans at Meadow Lane which I thought was unforgivable Its easy to tell fans who support the players about what a great guy you are, how much you want to play and how much you love the club ...but its an entirely different matter convincing managers, staff and players who see you every day...and more importantly , see your attitude ( or lack of it) He let JF down badly even though the manager tried to protect him and the fans , at the time, decided to side with Aborah and I get why...I really do Events since then have shown Aborah for what he is , surplus, a luxury and not a team player. Notts need all hands to the wheel now more than ever , Aborah wasn't and isnt interested in doing the hard yards so farewell to him. For those who didnt believe JF back then, listen to the words of Kevin Nolan about Aborah and ask yourself once more ....what reason would fullarton have to lie at a time when he needed his 'best' players? (and dont say fullarton didnt want to play football) Bye Bye Stanley , you're someone elses issue now , I think Notts are well shot ..onwards and upwards !
  3. We are seeing this more and more in Scotland where young, ex players are getting a chance to manage having had links to certain clubs. Alex Neill did well at Hamilton as a player and player/manager before leaving to get a job at Norwich and his post was filled by another ex player Martin Canning. Alan Archibald at Thistle has done well with VERY limited resources as limited resources means very different things north and south of the border. He took them out of the Scottish Championship and kept them in the top flight but it has to be said that the board have stuck by him even through relatively tough times but they seem a steady , middle table Premier League side now. Scottish football isnt where it used to be but one big positive side to that is that young managers are being appointed and given a chance.. and only now are starting to appear in English clubs, for example with Robbie Neilson leaving Hearts and going to MK Dons and then Hearts backfill his post with 30 year old Ian Cathro who was an assistant coach at Newcastle most recently with no playing experience, and another thread mentioned Jack Ross just appointed at St Mirren, so all in all a very interesting period. I hope this trend continues as there are some talented 'young' managers around and , in the case of Alan Archibald , just need backing to see what they can do
  4. I agree....The same type of people thought Warnock was in for the St Mirren job in Scotland recently ....he didnt stay at Rotherham as they wouldnt pay him what he wanted but he's going to appear in paisley at the bottom of Scotland's second tier? ooooft give me a break
  5. I think the issue now is getting a manager of note who will take it at this stage. This group (with some additions) have majorly let down 4 managers now and there appears a real cloud over the club. I even saw some folk on the Notts facebook page saying Gary Rowett?!! why in the world would he come to Notts at this stage? people I'm afraid need to be realistic. At this point Mr Hardy really faces his first major test in , not only identifying the right person, but also in convinving them that Notts wont seriously affect their CV. Everyone at ML should be collectively crossing their fingers .....
  6. Been away for quite a while from the forum but did come to Meadow Lane for the Wycombe game with a friend of mine. Fullarton started his career at St Mirren and was interviewed at the time but Jack Ross had been a player at St Mirren more recently and was seen at that time as a more popular choice with the fans, he had a shaky start losing his first 6 games and they are still bottom of the championship. After watching that game and looking at results, Notts really need this sale now and possibly a change of management team as a clean sweep because nothing seems to have changed to be honest. Fullarton clearly wasnt a popular choice but with a large squad of players who werent his and no real time to bring in his own players, I still feel he got a really hard time. 'Experience' in Cooper and now Sheridan , who the fans wanted at the time, has made not one bit of difference it would appear so I hope things will improve when Alan Hardy comes in. All the best to you and yours and I hope 2017 is a bit more positive ! ;o)

  8. I think JS has made a positive start to life at ML and seems to be building his own squad, at least a bit at a time. The goalkeeper situation will be interesting and JS (like other managers) has seen the defence as an issue although folk would argue that wouldnt take a genius ! All things considered , its good to see a positive period over the summer and folk looking forward to games instead of dreading them ! I've been watching the comings and goings with much interest and I'm hopeful for a good start to the season Sorry for the delay but even us scots get some holidays ;o) COYP
  9. @notts-joe Sorry Joe, If you think that wasn't a red card then I'd maybe swap ML for the WWE......silly kick out and a straight red every day of the week
  10. I think the issue has been the collective mental strength of them all, and the fact that some of the players I'm afraid are just not good enough for Notts. Too many average players appear to have been signed previously and its been reflected all season in the league position. Ability isnt just about talent, its about being able to adapt and be mentally tough in games , whether you are in front or behind and Notts this season have always looked unable to do either of those things very well. Will the reserves play on saturday? doubt it ...maybe some slight changes but MC has done everything he can publicly to try and give them a rocket and it hasnt made one blind bit of difference. If MC stays then his new players need to be mentally tough first and foremost because the culture in this squad needs to change sharpish because they need to hit the ground running on day 1 of next season.
  11. mine pretty much does what it says on the tin ;o)
  12. Reached his points target? 8 points out of a possible 30 is a target which secures a job? I'm sure the owner would have asked for something a bit more stretching than 8 points surely?
  13. Fozzy , I think MC's post match 'head the ball' comments were aimed mainly at Hewitt so he may have blotted his copybook with the manager early doors. I think its a weak spot for Notts and I'm not convinced either of the current contenders are good enough just now to really make the position theirs and give the fans some confidence in them
