  1. Weather permitting, Notts will resume this morning on the fourth and final day needing a further 96 runs to beat Worcestershire with 9 wickets remaining in their 2nd innings.
  2. It's going to be interesting who the brothers are going to eventually choose as their Director of Football. I assume that he will be sold into the Technical Board way of doing things. Will the person be a former Manager/ Head Coach with plenty of EFL experience or will he have to have more experience as a recruiter & be familiar with data systems such as Football Radar. If the person is a former Manager/ Head Coach he will need to be able to work with the current Head Coach, & if the person is in ultimate charge of Football Operations, will that undermine the position of the Head Coach or not? The Director of Football will be expected to chair the Technical Board & be a bridge between the Coaching Staff & the Owners. My question would be whether an arrangement such as we see here can work successfully or not? The Technical Board is a new concept & it is still in the early stages of it's existence. The jury is out whether it will be ultimately a successful way to assist decision making at a football club or not. It will certainly need those who attend the Technical Board to be very good at discussing, debating & coming to an agreed consensus to move forward with a plan to solve any difficulties & issues regarding from team/ individual player performances & poor results
  3. We saw over the river that the relationship between a Head Coach & Director of Football can appear to get a little strained. In their case the Head Coach was fired. In Notts's case the Director of Football has gone. I would love to have been a fly on the wall in the Notts board room at these Technical Board meetings. We witnessed Martin's frustration in his interviews at times then he basically turned full turtle and towed the line.

  9. @DangerousSausage I've seen the claims for Bradford City & Swindon Town, but I think some are counting Cup wins against League Clubs when only League meetings should be counted. That's why I think we have just Port Vale and Notts that are the official two.
  10. Rain has affected the final session with Notts finishing the day on 40 for 1 needing 96 runs to win on the final day.
  11. I do understand that may be the case, however, the fans may have their own ideas about the role of the D of F verses the Football Manager / Head Coach role & how they fit together or don't fit as the case may be.. I'm sure it could spring some very good debate about the subject.
  12. Somehow I think this development was somewhat inevitable. Nothing against Roberto, but he did seem to lack the experience that this important role required. I'm sure the Club will remain silent on the reasons for him going but it does seem that things have happened very suddenly. Was it a clash of personalities, or was it something more profound. All we do know is that there is going to be more disruption around the management just when Notts are facing their toughest game of the season at Gillingham on Saturday.
  13. Now it has been confirmed that Roberto Gagliardi has left Notts by mutual consent leaving a vacancy in the Football Management side at the Club. Do PON members think that the Director of Football should be replaced by an experienced League 2 Manager/ Head Coach type or just amalgamate the two roles of Head Coach and Director of Football into one? Is it important that the Club has a Director of Football or not. Can a First Team Manager do both roles successfully at Notts?
  14. I agree with the sentiment here. I can understand why Notts would want to make the pre season friendlies more high profile to maybe make the fixtures more competitive & make money out of the fixtures. But I do believe that it is important for the players to play against sides at home that will have a similar style & approach to what Notts have I used to love the County Cup Competition where the holders would get a bye to the final and the challengers would play each other in a semi final first. Those games used to be competitive. I do wish it would be reinstated so we could get a pre season game against Mansfield & Forest which ended with a possible trophy.
  15. A big welcome from me @Marks & welcome to our friendly community.
  16. @Wheelbarrow repair man I think that your point four is false. @NottsCountyKev I think your point four is false. @Chris I think your point 5 is false. 1) When I was thirteen years old I used to go potato picking at the local farm earning Ten shillings a day. 2) When I was fourteen I bicycled to Skegness with four mates & we camped there over the weekend during the summer holidays. 3) When I was eleven years old I passed an entrance exam to go to a Private School in West Bridgford. 4) One of the many cars that I have owned was a bright red 1973 Triumph Spitfire in 1975. 5) When I was 12 years old my mate & I had our Bicycles stolen from outside Highfields Lido while we were swimming. The Police brought us home thankfully.
  17. The rain has stopped and the afternoon session began on time.Worcestershire are 160 all out which means Notts need 136 runs for a vital win.James took 5 wickets & Tongue 4.
  18. An early lunch has been taken due to rain. At Lunch Worcestershire have moved on to 141 for 8. Notts bowlers James & Tongue have taken 4 & 2:wickets respectively.
  19. The weather is set fair for the start of the third days play between Worcestershire & Notts.Worcestershire resume on 93 for 5.
