Agreed, he's always going to be better on the wings because all said and done that's his best position, but as you say he needs five games or so before we can judge whether he can do a job as an AM.

An encouraging performance by Notts today. With more luck they could easily have won that match. My shortlist for man of the match are Platt, Cotter, Dennis, Norburn & Jones. I think all five were above the rest although I think it was an encouraging team performance. My pick of the five has to be Dennis who work very well up front for me & got the penalty awarded. So he gets this week's gong from me.

I'll take a point from the first game. It is a positive result to begin Notts's league campaign. Plenty of possession as we expected but few clear cut chances. Grant should probably have done better with his opportunity in the first half. I think Jodi did ok in his new position as an attacking midfielder. It will be interesting to see him shape up against better quality sides if he remains in that position. After all that possession it was dissapointing to concede the goal, but pleased that the ref blew for a clear penalty for Notts, when he could easily have given Notts two more. I was encouraged by the performance today. Hopefully, the players will begin to gel together as they get more playing time & training pitch practice together. Onto the next match at home to Salford, I can't wait.

A big signing for Notts Women. Forward Grace Jones has joined Notts County Women ahead of the 2025/26 season, following a phenomenal season with Gainsborough Trinity Community Women.

Neil Warnock, a Notts County Icon who masterminded 2 successive promotions & had Notts competing with the best. It's inconceivable in today's age that his leadership, tactics and style of play wouldn't be welcome at so many clubs up & down the land in this day & age.. But unfortunately that is the sad truth. The continental style of play, the perverbial 3-5-2-1 is the preferred shape of most of the PL clubs & across the EFL. It's the preferred shape at the Lane too. Neal always talks a lot of sense. He lives football, & knows it like the back of his hand. He has personality & wisdom mixed in with a sense of humour. And he's very good at telling interesting stories. Neal is the type of football manager that is quickly becoming a thing of the past & that fact really saddens me.
