After reading the Notts write up on the new appointment, I am now very encouraged by the changes the Reedtz brothers have made to the coaching structure now under the appointment of Martin as Head Coach. I wish him lots of luck in his new role. I'm absolutely delighted that Sam Slocombe has been appointed First Team Coach. He will give lots of support to the HC & will be a bridge between the players & Martin. And the appointment of Andy Edwards as Assistant Head Coach is a good appointment. The Coaching staff will join our Director of Football, Director of Performance & the Reedtz brothers in a new Technical board to discuss strategy, tactics, player performance & results. I am excited about the new roles appointed & the new coaching organisation. I think that it will be very helpful to get success for Notts. The other thing is that Martin's teams are hard working & hard to play against, & well organised, something I wanted to see. I hope the Notts fans get behind him and our new coaching staff.

Let's not forget. Sam Slocombe as been appointed to a coaching role along with Andy Edwards. Sam will be First Team Coach & Andy will be Assistant Head Coach. I'm really pleased for Sam, he deserves it and I wish him lots of luck. Dam staying gives the coaching department continuity & I think he can be a good bridge between the players & Martin, the new Head Coach. Andy Edwards has been coaching the England under 20s so he as plenty of experience, so the coaching team is being built under Martin, which gives a lot of encouragement.

So that's the question I am asking PON members. Do you think that Martin can get Notts promoted next season. Looking at his wiki he hasn't had a lot of EFL experience as a Manager. I was expecting a Head Coach with much more EFL knowledge after Stuart Maynard has been promoted from the National League & his inexperience of EFL football showed at times & he failed to get Notts promoted. I will get behind our new Head Coach but I can't help feeling that he may find it difficult.

Martin Paterson is a bit of a surprise after all of the speculation & conjecture, but the owners have appointed him, so I guess we should all get behind him & give him a chance. My concern is that although he has a lot of EFL experience as a player, he hasn't had much experience as a Manager/Head Coach.

The speculation is going into overdrive. Let's wait and see for any official announcement. Let's deal in facts not conjecture.

If Denmark win & get to the semifinal, & there's a further delay in Notts announcing their Head Coach, it will add to the speculation that Notts new Head Coach will be Steffen Hojer.

It would be great to see Real Oviedo re-establish themselves in the Spanish top division, but I'm sure it will be tough for them. We've seen in the PL how difficult it is for promoted clubs to survive that first season. Good luck to them though. They will need it.

Very sad to hear this news. He left the club before I started supporting Notts. He had 9 years at Notts with 245 appearances & scoring 21 goals. A man with a long service record at Notts, almost unheard of nowadays. Rest in peace Dick.

It was a great win for young England against Spain in the quarter finals last night. England had stuttered in the group games but came alive last night with two early goals. Spain came back strongly & pulled a goal back before half time, & England had to defend stoutly in the second half. It could have been a nervy last few minutes, but thankfully England scored late on when they were awarded a penalty. I am particularly pleased for young England manager, Lee Carsley who is doing a tremendous job with the England under 21s. He deserves every plaudit that he is getting England have every chance against the Netherlands in the semi final on Wednesday. Spain were regarded as one of the most strongest teams in the tournament. If England can play as they did last night a place in the final is possible.

It's Matchday

It's another lovely sunny morning here. Have been up this early this morning watching the breaking news overnight. Will be out in the garden this morning mowing the lawn & just general garden work. Plenty of sport on the box today, Mens Final at Queen's Tennis, 3rd day of the first Test match between England & India, & Notts playing Yorkshire at Trent Bridge in the County Championship. Will we get some news about the appointment of a new Head Coach or news of another player coming to ML today?
