Rushcliffe Rovers / Crystal Palace
Owning or being a major shareholder of two different football clubs at the same time should be a no no & should be prohibited. An issue such as what we saw at Palace, shouldn't be just an issue with UEFA, it should be an issue domestically too.

When a Home Game is Not a Home Game.
So Spanish Clubs Villarreal & Barcelona have been approved by the Spanish Football Federation to play their match in Miami, United States, in December. It still has to be approved by UEFA, FIFA, CONCACAF, & US Soccer, before it can go ahead but it will probably be a formality. What do PON members think about the implications for Clubs & Fans around the World & in the UK. Is it a good or bad thing?

The Value of the Technical Board
A very good topic for discussion @McPie I am warming to the Technical Board. I think that it will be a useful tool to ensure that any problems on the field are nipped in the bud asap. It will be a forum to ensure there is continuous improvement on the field of play. I'm sure that the first meeting after the Salford game would have made for interesting listening, with plenty of input from everyone around the table. One thing is for sure. I don't think the Technical board will be waiting for 10 matches to go by, before getting their 10 penny worth in by giving their feedback & making suggestions. And you are right, the fan base have been something near to a Technical Board over the ages. The fans have always been quick to air their concerns & offering their feedback & solutions when things aren't going so well. It's not clear if the Club Captain will attend Technical Board meetings, but I do think that it would be beneficial to have the senior player's feedback & suggestions too. I don't think it is necessary that a fans representative be on the Board because I'm sure members of the board will be very aware of the feeling of the fanbase, whether it be positive or negative. I do believe that the Technical Board will be of great value & a tool to ensure that the Club is continually improving on the field & help to put things right when things aren't going so well.

I believe Notts need to take this match very seriously. Martin Paterson alluded to this in his pre match interview that he was looking to win the match. Of course it's important to put in a good performance, but it is important to win every match you play in. It gives the players confidence & keeps the fan base happy too Martin needs to find out what his strongest side is, as soon as he can, so I would urge him to select a very strong side against Wigan. Possibly those who finished the game against Salford, & play young Griffiths in goal.- Who's your Man of the Match v Salford?
The poll has now closed. Thank you to all who voted. I am very pleased to announce that Keanan Bennetts has been voted as the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match against Salford.- Welcome John B
Hi @John B & welcome to our Pride of Nottingham community.- Footballing principles sacrificed?
@theAnticlough said, "The point I'm trying to make is that our identity can be eroded in many different ways. One of those would be recruiting different types of midfielders, or for any key position". The owners definitely believe in possession based football, there is no doubt about that, but I do see a subtle change in the programming for their football radar analysis system regarding the type of players Notts are looking for. I think back to the difference of approach between Williams & Maynard. Luke being attack minded, Stuart more defence minded. Now Martin wants to be more physical. There has to be a fine balance between attack, defence, now physicality. Martin has to get all three right now. I think Martin has enough players for him to decide who fits best across the side especially in midfield. I hope it doesn't take him too long.- Weekly Chat - Monday 11th to Sunday 17th August
Good morning all. It's been a nice warm day here with the occasional Sunny intervals.I have spent time in the garden today weeding & general maintenance. All the summer flowers are in bloom & looks magnificent. I just need to cut the lawn tomorrow morning, then things are set for a week or so garden wise. We've bought an insect netting which fits over our large sun parasol to keep the insects off us. I will fix it up once I've mowed the lawn. I can report that we've had the fans on again today as it's getting warm inside. It's 76 deg F in our living room.- Reasons for Optimism
For all is said & done, the powers that be at Notts will do what they think is best for the Club. It doesn't mean that we supporters should agree with everything they do. If the Club had been struggling in the bottom half of the league last season, I could easily understand why the club would want a big clear out & a significant recruitment of new players. But we finished sixth, just 2 wins away from getting promoted on goal difference. Notts took it to the last game of the season. Was a 22 player turnaround really necessary? Surely we had the makings of a successful squad & it has been gutted. I still think that just 5 more players, with around 5 leaving, would have strengthened an already decent squad. Even though I think the turnaround has been too big, & it will probably get bigger by the end of the window, the owners are clearly trying to strengthen the side & I applaud that. I just think the club may have gone two steps back to go three forward that's all. Time will tell if I'm right or wrong. I hope I'm wrong.- Hello and welcome, Norman Butler
Hi @Norman Butler & welcome to our Pride of Nottingham community.- Welcome to PON Chrismabbs
Hi @Chrismabbs & welcome to our Pride of Nottingham community.- Reasons for Optimism
Of course there is always room for optimism & I am sure that the team will improve as the players gel together. I do believe that there wasn't a lot wrong with the team that fished sixth last season & could have easily been improved by adding just five new additions. The team just needed 2 good goalkeepers, two good AMs & a good striker. I think that 11 new additions were unnecessary & this has had a big affect on the cohesiveness of the team. And after all those additions, we still need a good goalkeeper, a playmaker & a decent proven goalscorer.- When playing it out from the back goes wrong
I think playing safe & avoiding risky situations is just common sense. Continuing to play the same way & gifting the opposition easy goals can only be construed as foolish or even foolhardy.- Connections game
Your on a roll @super_ram- Footballing principles sacrificed?
The end goal of playing professional Association Football is to score more goals than your opponent by moving the ball by any means towards your opponent's goal & getting the ball over the goal line. Teams don't get points for playing pretty entertaining football. It's the team that employs the best tactics & shape to counter how the other team has lined up. It doesn't matter how you win football matches so long as you win, Salford won because tactically they were much better than Notts, didn't make any mistakes at the back, & took their chances. Did Salford play pretty & entertaining football? No, I don't think they did, but they won & earned the 3 points. This isn't the first time Notts have secumbed to these tactics. We've seen it all before last season & the season before. Lessons need to be learnt.- Faces of PON 25-26: Salford City (H)
I think it's great idea to catalog a part of the history of the club in this way. Well done @Chris- Waffle word game
