  1. I'm very surprised Oxford didn't go for Macca because with Ruben they have a player that worked with Macca so well. Also Oxford's playing style would have suited Macca much more.
  2. @super_ram That's good advice. I would say that more than half the time they get the weather wrong if not more.
  3. This is fantastic news today for Notts and their supporters, however it is great news for the team. Jodi has been an inspiration since he became a regular in the side. Who cannot forget his winner against Borham Wood that will be a part of Notts folk law for ever And Jodi keeps breaking records like he did last season with his record assists & this season he has started in the same vein. Jodi's signing, is the icing on the cake after a brilliant summer of transfers into the Club, & it means that the owners are sending a serious message by intending to take this club forward to the next stage.
  4. At last. Some movement on these 115 charges that Man City have to answer to.
  5. Jodi signing a new contract is absolutely fantastic news. This has made my day. It's like signing a new player, even though we haven't. Jodi absolutely deserves a new contract which must include a pay rise and better terms. It won't stop the interest in Jodi in January, but other clubs will have to pay big for him now. Stuart Maynard must be delighted too. The Club is certainly buzzing at the moment. Another big coup would be to get Dan to sign on the dotted line too.
  6. We've had the gas fire on in the living room since 8 this morning. They do say it will warm up outside again at the weekend.
  7. It looks like a cryptic message from Notts. Are they going to announce a new contract? I really do hope so. That would be absolutely massive.
  8. @Chris I agree, Players should be checking their own equipment to ensure compliance. There is a gauge that the bat has to pass through to ensure it's not over permitted width. Just a very small increase in thickness, just a millimetre or two, can make all the difference to a professional. To be honest, the match should have been declared at least a draw with a further 8 points awarded to Notts, or even a win for Notts, with 16 points awarded or the match replayed.
  9. I agree @Chris Alex Bass talked about Stuart having faith in him. Having the faith and confidence from any gaffer makes all the difference in the mentality of a player. I think Aidan Stone still has something to offer Notts if given the chance. Bear in mind there would be a brand new defensive unit in front of him now, if he had the chance to deputise for Bass. One more thing. Managers rarely substitute Keepers for tactical reasons. Is it time that Clubs like Notts started to do that to give substitute keepers game time?
  10. We are quite lucky here because within a two mile radius of our home we have an Asda, two Tesco Extras, a Morrisons, a Sainsburys, an Aldi & a Lidl next to each other. Not to forget three Tesco Expresses & a Coop store within the 2 mile distance. So we are spoilt for choice. The Asda is within walking distance with a McDonald's, a Kentucky Fried Chicken, & a Costa Coffee all in the same shopping area.
  11. @Chris Senior players can play in B team matches. I wish Notts would use this facility a bit more. Players on the cusp of the first team like Aidan Stone & players returning from injury could get some valuable match time. Also the young players could benefit from playing with some senior players.
  12. Notts have lost the match during the morning session. They were bowled out for 281, so have lost by an innings & 83 runs.
  13. Ten day trend from the MET office Should get a bit warmer over the weekend.
  14. Would have thought that equipment that was to be used for the match, such as the bats, balls, size of the pitch & size of the playing area, would have been checked out by the umpires before play commenced to ensure the dimensions were legal. Thankfully, this player with the wider bat didn't make a lot of difference in the second innings, but it could easily have done. Personally, I believe the match should have been declared a draw, & Notts awarded 8 more points for the draw.
  15. Alex has made a big difference for Notts in goal this season. Two clean sheets in 5 matches is a good start for our number one between the sticks. Alex has demonstrated that he can command his area, he's good at dealing with crosses, he's a good shot stopper & his ball distribution is good too. When a goalkeeper commands respect & confidence from his team mates, particularly the defensive unit in front of him, their general performance rises too. This has been reflected with the results on the field. Three consecutive victories & still unbeaten this season. It is no wonder that Stuart Maynard has faith in him & that will only give Alex more confidence to be at his best for Notts. Alex can be described as a journeyman in football circles, but hopefully his search for a Club that suites him has come to an end. So far the signs are good that he is settled & is enjoying his new lease of life playing for Notts.
  16. So now we come to the fourth and final day of the match between Essex & Notts from Chelmsford. Notts resume on 180/2 still trailing by 184.
  17. Good morning everyone. A chilly cloudy morning with a small amount of wind. The Sun is trying to peak through but showers are forecast today. My local side, AFC Mansfield got knocked out of the Notts Senior Cup to Hucknall Town the other day. Nicknamed 'The Bulls', they are currently members of the United Counties League Premier Division North and play at the Forest Town Arena. This league that they are in is tier 9 of the English league system.
  18. A chilly day to come for Thursday with sunshine and showers and temperatures below the seasonal average again this afternoon.
