  1. @TheSkipper I agree about Edwards & Abbott. I think they could forge a good defensive midfield partnership especially away from home & against the stronger sides. Their work rate, tenacity & skill on the ball, would prove invaluable in those matches.
  2. Tom Reed's article was a very good & interesting read. I was particularly struck by him talking about the club's past and linking it to today. It is clear that the oldest professional Club is still a leading Innovator in football circles. You only have to look at the Nest, the new pitch, & the work done to improve the utilities at the ground, to see that Notts are one of the clubs leading the field in enhancing spectator comfort & enjoyment.
  3. @AmericanPie Thank you so much for the update on American Pie. Just let him know that we are thinking of him, we miss him and we wish him well.
  4. Good evening everyone. It's been a cold day today, It was a bit of a misty start but by the afternoon a pleasant day but cold. Put the gas heaters on today for the first time in a few months. Looks like it's going to be a cold night too Carried on with shredding old paperwork. Didn't think it was going to be such a long job, but plenty still to do. As for the spiders outside, looks like they've packed up early for the winter.
  5. Stuart Maynard has to take much credit for the new squad of players that were brought in. Stuart has got the players that he wanted but they still have to be gelled into a good side to challenge for honours. This is what has been happening at Notts during the pre season & now things are looking so promising. The early results demonstrate that Notts has improved defensively. This is down to our new defensive unit & midfield that is supporting it Notts haven't lost their potency in attack either with plenty of chances being created and taken. Stuart finally has his own team at last, and the smile on his face in his post match interviews is heartwarming to see I believe that this team can only improve further as they get more game time together.
  6. A spirited Notts fightback in their second innings this afternoon at Chelmsford. Notts have finished another rain affected day on 180 for 2 still trailing Essex by 184. Skipper Hameed as made a gritty 100 n/o & Clarke is on 62. Hameed as passed 1000 runs for the season.
  7. A Notts B team lost narrowly 1:0 to Mansfield Town B today in the EFL Central League Cup.
  8. If Notts play to their potential that they have demonstrated over their last three matches Notts should be too strong for Bromley. Bromley have made a good start to their opening season in the football league, & like every side inthis division, should not be underestimated. I agree that changes to the Notts should be minimum. There is nor rush to rush Crowley & Jones back if they are not quite ready. Key areas will be our defence & midfield & I wouldn't see any changes there, unless Crowley is ready. Didzy deserves to continue to lead the line, so I would expect Jatta to be on the subs bench. Stuart can be confident of having a strong bench too, so all in all I'm hoping for a 2:1 win. A clean sheet would be great if we can achieve it.
  9. Another good insight into what an opposition fan is thinking. Bromley have made a good start to life in league 2 & I think that they will pose a very tricky test for Notts. I think that Bromley will try to press us hard and look for opportunities on the break, down the flanks & from plenty of crosses into the box Notts need to be, as always, tight at the back and don't give Bromley any room on the ball. If Notts play to their strengths & maintain the form they have shown over the last three matches, I do believe we can get a win, but a draw would be a reasonable result too.
  10. My line up at home would be:- Bass Macari, Platt, Bedeau Wing-backs: Jodi Jones & Nick Tsaroulla. Abbott, Grant, Crowley McGoldrick, Jatta Subs, Palmer, Edwards, McDonald, Scott, Gordon, Stone & Brown. Standby, Austin, Ness & Cundy Away Matches Bass Macari, Platt, Bedeau Wing-backs: Jodi Jones & Nick Tsaroulla. Abbott, Grant, Crowley, Edwards McGoldrick Subs, Stone, McDonald, Gordon, Hinchy Scott, Jatta & Palmer Standby, Austin, Ness, Brown & Cundy. Away matches I would put an extra midfielder in the starting 11
  11. @Chris I think you may be right that Stuart may be looking to the whole squad when deciding the starting 11 for a particular game. We also have to bear in mind that we haven't seen McDonald, Cundy, Ness or Gordon feature yet, nor have we seen the young guys, Sanderson & Reynolds. It is going to be a big conundrum for Stuart to solve. I think that he must be relishing it too. Last season it was so difficult for him, because the squad was so thin on the ground.
  12. Third days Play between Essex & Notts. Notts resumed on 37/1 in reply to Essex's 457 all out Lunch on the third day. Notts have a monumental collapse this morning. Notts lost 9 wickets for 57 runs & we're bowled out for 93. Following on Notts are 1 for 0 in their second innings, still 365 runs behind.
  13. Stuart Maynard will certainly have a selection problem when all his players are fit & ready to be selected. Some of the players have performed well & pick themselves. Players such as Bass, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Jones & Crowley can be selected on merit. But who joins them in the first 11? Defensive Midfield & upfront could prove a selection headache for Stuart. For example, Palmer, Robertson, Edwards, Hinchy, Grant, Austin & Abbott will be fighting over the defensive midfield places. Grant, Austin & Edwards have excelled in attacking midfield roles too. Scott, McGoldrick, Jatta, & Brown will be fighting for a place upfront too So, who gets your nod to start each game for Notts, out of all the players available. Maybe someone I haven't mentioned? Who would be your preferred 11?
  14. No one can ever see what a person his really feeling on the inside. People under risk mask their feelings very well because they are too embarrassed to ask for help, or simple don't want to be helped. A young lady who lived down the road from us over forty years ago took her own life, & she never gave any signs to the neighbours that she was a person at risk beforehand.
  15. Brazil look as though they are in transition with new players in their side. Although they have made a poor start, & are lacking confidence according to one of their players, they will still have an opportunity to qualify. Brazil are in fifth place & the top six teams automatically qualify after 18 rounds of fixtures. The seventh placed team will go into a playoff with another team from across the World. So it's highly likely that Brazil should qualify. Argentina top the group so they shouldn't have a problem qualifying either.
  16. Your Wednesday Morning Weather
  17. Richard Brindley played for Bromley & Notts.
  18. @NiftyNick Good one, is he back on Sky Sports?
  19. @Blake Northern Premier League Premier Division, is the 7th tier of the English league system.
  20. @Chris it is a good score & if the weather holds Notts will have to bat well to avoid defeat in this one Notts are in a transitional stage I would say at the moment. Stuart Broad retired & he has definitely been missed this season. Notts have also lost bowler Stone to England duty & also Ben Duckett, their opening batter.. Notts have some players playing from the second eleven for this match too, so the team is a little weakened due to absences & injuries. It's important Notts avoid defeat as they are third from bottom & the bottom two get relegated to division 2.
  21. End of the day on day two. Unfortunately 53 overs lost to the weather today. Notts finish on 37/1 in reply to Essex's 457 all out.
