Stan also had a long and successful playing career with Wolves too.

@Wheelbarrow repair man Can you imagine the pressure on a Manager in the modern era, six games without a win and the media and fans are calling for their head. Of course, the modern era of instant opinion on social media & instant news & opinion available from the MS Media and online papers doesn't make a manager's job easy. But yes, 40 years in the same job. George Ramsey must have been some guy and his feats as a Manager should be up there in lights. And you can bet your bottom dollar that all league clubs were very equal to each other in those days, so a manager had to be very good at building a successful team by putting the average players in their strongest positions on the pitch to make the team even better. Clough was good at that.

@allardyces tash Gareth does tend to go under the radar when it comes to talking about great managers, but he has quietly got on with his job, and he's good at batting away criticism too. I'm hoping for big things from the England team in the Euros this time. England should get to the semis and hopefully will get to the final. He's hoping.

I think that a back three of Matty Platt, Jacob Bedeau, & Lewis Macari, with Kyle Cameron plus Mahovo in reserve, looks good on paper. I would like to see Kyle fight for a place in the side because I believe he is one of our most influential players & a senior member of the squad. Matt Palmer coming back will be like a new signing, & to have a player such like Matt coming back is a dream come true. I can already see a midfield trio of Palmer, Robertson & Crowley plus Austin & Sanderson fitting in very nicely, And what about Langstaff, Jatta, McGoldrick, Scott or Morias upfront with Nemane & Jones or Chicksen on the flanks. The squad is beginning to look very healthy indeed. A few more additions, a goalkeeper, a midfielder & a wingback would do nicely.

I think the fact that the Notts Owners are described as a consortium bodes well for the future. The Reedtz brothers could look to have more significant investors in the Club as Notts rise up the League structure. On a much more bigger scale of course, we saw what happened at Man U recently with a large minority stake in the Club being bought.

@Agree @Piethagoram some great Managers you mentioned there, who I would put above some of the modern Managers in the Football league. I did some research @Wheelbarrow repair man and found a Manager who was Manager of Aston Villa from 1886 to 1926, imagine that, 40 years, and his name was George Ramsey who guided them to six league Championships and Six FA Cups. Aston Villa became renowned for their short, quick combination passing under his leadership. I think I would definitely put him high up as a GOAT. Just imagine how many sides he has to build in 40 years. An unprecedented number of years to do it multiple times takes some doing.

We've had a really good exciting few weeks with the two incomings, & Notts are clearly demonstrating that they mean business in the promotion stakes next season. I hope to see more players come in, and I hope those season ticket sales can pick up & pass last seasons figure.

Two excellent signings for Notts and Notts are putting together what looks on paper as a team that can challenge for promotion next season In addition to Matty Platt Notts have signed Jacob Bedeau after he left Morecambe. Our defensive frailties last season was plain to see now these two new players will hopefully make us much tighter at the back Personally, I would like to see a tenacious defensive midfielder come in to support the new two defencemen & an experienced 30 something goalkeeper. I must say, I am quite excited now for our prospects for the coming season. I eagerly await the the next signings.
