Maynard's Minstermen Move Upwards.
Interestingly York City have won three matches on the Bounce since Stuart Maynard took over, and it would seem according to York Fans that he has dropped the Tippy Tappy , play it from the back system adopted by his predecessor. So did the Notts Model Shackle Maynard's ideas in how he would have liked the Magpies to play? Or has the fact his time at the Lane helped him become a better Coach at the National League Level? Admittedly his tenure at York as only just begun, but he's made a Good Start and should he manage to guide York back into the Football League, could the Brothers be left thinking that Maynard was one they let Get Away? Thoughts PON Members?

Manager or Director of Football?
@Piethagoram . Neither Neil Warnock or Mick Jones was at the Club when Jack Grealish and Connor McGregor played for the Magpies, if I remember right. Shaun Derry and Greg Abbott were Head Coach and Assistant during Grealish and McGregor's time at the Lane.

Gagliardi DoF leaves
@allardyces tash . As I have said in other comments on the Site, the Communication by the Club to the Notts Fans is Very Poor, at Best and needs to be Addressed. As you say if they don't want to say to much, a little openness with the Fan Base, would be Welcome.

Gagliardi DoF leaves
Well lets see now. Gagliardi worked for the Brothers Company ( I believe that's right) So was his appointment based on his Data work he produced for their Firm? Why would they hire a Complete Novice to run one of the Most Important Departments (Recruitment) within the Club? A lot of the time the Brothers have Promoted from within for some crucial positions (not just from Notts but their Data Company) and they have proved to be the wrong choices. Just because someone proves to be a Whizz Kid with Data doesn't mean he'll make a Top D.O.F. or Head of Recruitment. So the New D.O.F or H.O.R Needs to be a Person with a wealth of Experience in that Role, and they don't need to be currently employed by the Club Nor Be A Data Genius. They Need To Know The Game Inside Out and Work Well with the Members of the Technical Board. The Appointment of such an Individual is Vitaly Important to Notts.

Manager or Director of Football?
The Director Of Football (IMHO) should be someone with a wealth of Experience and vast Knowledge of the Game and work in Tandem with the Head Coach on all Footballing Matters at the Club. He also needs to have an Excellent Relationship with the Owners and his Opinions Need to be Respected by All at the Club. My Choice would be Neil Warnock. Yes I know there's lots of People on the Site will Disagree with me, but he does fit the necessary criteria and they'd be a Fair Bit Of Media Coverage For The Club. Which would be No Bad Thing. Notts might even get a couple of lines written in the Evening Post😂. But on a Serious Note, perhaps if Someone such as Warnock had been appointed in a Role to help Stuart Maynard when he first became the Notts Head Coach his learning Curve may have Not Been As Steep and maybe the Magpies might be a League 1 side by Now.

@Fan of Big Tone . In the words of the Great Spike Milligan, It's all Rather Confusing Really. But Thanks Appreciate You taking the Time to look up and Post your Findings.

During the War. I was on an Aircraft Carrier out in the Pacific. When this Kamikaze Pilot came hurtling towards our ship. I Remember saying to the Skipper The way he's Flying That Plane , if he's Not Careful He'll Kill Himself. Albert Trotter.🤣

Communication with Supporters
I do click the don't allow button @Fan of Big Tone , what comes across to me why is the button needed, and what happens when you do inform the Club of your location? Are you flooded with advertisements from the Club's Website? Or useless information you don't need or want to know? It must be something otherwise there's no point of the Button.

Gagliardi DoF leaves
So the D.O.F. and the Head Of Recruitment are one and the same? I was under the Impression the Posts were held by two different people. My confusion arises in the Fact Richard Montague was always referred to as the Head of Recruitment and Not D.O.F. and the Term D.O.F. as been absent from the Clubs Titles (or hasn't been mentioned as such.) for some seasons past. Well you learn something New Every Day.

Should Notts Skip the German Tour Next Season?
@Randall . Here Here, I don't honestly see the point of the preseason trips to Germany. Keep the Squad on Home Soil. Surely having matches at the Lane along with games with nearby Club's is better and easier for the Fans to watch and travel too. Games against neighbouring Clubs preseason would also help Fans bond and feel closer with the Club and new players. Notts don't need to go abroad (it would also cut out the cost of team travel and putting the Squad up in hotels and cut out Visa Problems), Preseason games against the likes of Derby, Forest, Leicester, Mansfield would be more rewarding. IMHO.

Communication with Supporters
@McPie. Excellent Point. It seems to me that ever since the Tragic Passing of former C.E.O Jason Turner, Club communication with the Fan Base has fallen by the wayside. It's very Rare these days I bother with the official Web Site. As you say the lack of any announcements leaves the the Club wide open to Rumours and if those Rumours gain any traction, then it's bound to cause unrest with the Fans. A simple update either every Fortnight or month on things such has injuries or the Academy. I'll give you an Example. When Jodi was injured the other season, no announcement about the seriousness of his injury was forthcoming, and many members on this site put forward their speculations. Jodi was Ok it was just a knock, he'll be back after a couple of missed matches. I put forward a Rumour I'd heard. Jodi was seen hobbling around on Crutches and he'd broken his shin and he would out for around 3 months. Which turned out to be True. However it took the Club weeks to confirm the Truth about Jodi's injury and the length of time, he would be out. What was the point of Holding back that Information? If the Fans had have known earlier there would have been understanding instead of Rumoured Speculation. Another player's injury news hasn't been confirmed (though I may have missed it) is the injury to Will Jarvis, that being Will had Broken His Arm. As he? If so how long will he be out for? There was a time when Notts put out video's of injured players talking about their injuries and their recovery rate, the Fans also saw film of Players going on bonding courses, and some behind the scenes footage. This was all available on the Notts You Tube Channel, now if you want to listen to the Head Coaches or Players post match interviews, you have to go, onto the Club's website, and they want to know your location , why? Another invasion into Fans/Peoples Privacy. It's Not Much To Ask What's Happening At The Lane, And Get Regular Updates Is It?

Gagliardi DoF leaves
As I 've said the Guy could Talk the Talk, But Couldn't Walk the Walk. Now hopefully Patterson will be able to Run the team his way (something that's he's been trying over recent matches) with No interference from other channels. Now he knows what is Wanted and be able to Push the Team Forward, Success or Failure is Now In His Own Hands. Regarding a Replacement, Does the Club Really Need One?

Would I Lie To You?
No this topic isn't about the Popular T.V. Show. But has come about on another platform I'm on., (I am Not the Originator of this Idea) and as proven very popular with other members. How it works is you write down Five Facts about yourself, four of which are True and One which is False. Other members have to guess which one is false. Hopefully PON Members will take to the Idea and write down their Five Facts, while guessing which one of my Facts is a Lie, Only one Guess Please. After a couple of Days the Commentor reveals the Correct Answer. Here's My Five Facts : 1) I Was Once Looked After By Brian Clough. 2) I Was Once Mistaken For Entertainer Richard Stillgo. 3) I Once Made Ken Dodd Laugh. 4) I Broke My School Long Jump Record Twice In The Same Meeting, But Shouldn't Have Been In The Event. 5) World Speedway Champion Barry Briggs Once Stood On My Foot. He Apologized Then Stood On My Other Foot. So There You Have It. Don't Be Shy Have A Go Write Your Guess Down, Then Your Five Facts For Other Members To Guess.

Trouble brewing across the river?
That's the Problem when your Owner has a Massive Ego and Fails to Keep it in Check. Big Ange has always said he wins something in his Second Season. Trouble is Will He Get That Long?

Understanding The Reedtz Vision for Notts County
Excellent Article @Graham. Well written and Valid Points all round. One problem that does raise it's Head is Certain Fans seem to think that as the Brothers Saved the Club, then they are above Criticism and Can Do No Wrong, and if any Notts Fan who thinks otherwise is Small Minded and Not a True Magpies Fan. Owning a Football Club Paints a Big Target on Your Back (Alan Hardy and Ray Trew are examples). You're going to get moaned at you're going to get Criticized, why? A simple Answer it's the Fans Money and Support that is the Lifeblood of any Football Club. Like Players, Owners Come and Go, one day the Reedtz Brothers will be gone, but the Fans Remain, And Every Fan has an Opinion which they are entitled too. It really doesn't Matter how Many Millions an Owner Puts into a Club, they will only be Judged on one thing by many of their Fans. Success On The Pitch. Even the Greatest Owner of Notts County F.C Derek Pavis faced Criticism when he Modernized Meadow Lane and he said as much in an interview. Fans who moan seem ungrateful, but that's Human Nature and the Nature of the Beast, that is Football. When they arrived at the Lane the Brothers had Plans, Perhaps it would be a Good Idea for them to Reissue those Plans and see how they are coming along and give the Notts Faithful an idea where they hope the Club will be in Five Years Time and maybe it would be an Idea to Communicate with the Fans more often, instead of keeping what's happening at the Club quite and leaving the Fans in The Dark.

Statement from the owners
@Sheffield Pie What is classed as Club Sustainability ? How Long Will It Take? The Owners have been in charge for Six years now. If the Owners can't Sustain the Club What Then? What I have Never understood is why haven't the Board Chased Major Investment? After all Notts County are The World's Oldest Professional Football Club, you would think a Title like that would Carry Some Weight especially in the Evolving Interest from the U.S.A. Example Tom Brady NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback, has bought a small percentage of shares in Birmingham City. Yeah but Birmingham City aren't as Old as the Magpies, you would think that would give some Bragging Rights to any would be Investors and would be an Appealing Boast, because you know what the Yanks are Like, anything to get one over on a Rival. Was it last Season or the Season before that there was a story Taylor Swift wanted to buy the Club? Probably just paper talk, but if it wasn't, wouldn't that have been an Ideal Opportunity for the Owners to say Sorry the Club's Not For Sale, but we're open to Investment. Think of the Media Coverage the Club would have got.

Statement from the owners
The Jatta position having been clarified is a Welcome Statement, which means he'll be able to put himself in the Shop Window, in the Hope he'll secure himself a Good Move, which means Notts will have until January, to get the Benefit of him Staying. Should Dennis keep on finding the back of the Net, expect him to move as well. The Worrying Part of the Statement is the Line LESS RELIANT ON OWNER FUNDING AND TRADITIONAL INCOME STREAMS. Does this mean that the Owners are Struggling for Funds and why this Summers Transfer Window As Been So Poor? Plus is this the reason why the Club is getting Rid of it's Star Players ? And it wouldn't Surprise me to see the Club Put Up For Sale, Within The Next Two Years. Everything seems to be Pointing In That Direction.

Transfer Deadline Day
Strange isn't it. That Martin Paterson would be Judged on his First 5-7 games. Then it was the First 10 games. Now It's the First 12 Games. What's Next ? The First 15 Games? Then maybe It Will Be Wait Till the January Transfer Window. The Trouble is by then Notts may be in Such a Hole, that Promotion may be out of the Magpies Reach. After the Poor Summer Transfer Window, what makes Fans think things will get better come January? Will a Large amount of Money suddenly be found and Big Signings will be made? If Notts are in a Poor position come January, what will entice better players to come to the Lane, to play for a Team Midtable or worse? And if Notts fail to gain promotion will the Owners be looking for another Head Coach, for 2025/26 Season?

Robin Hood. Was He Real?
The Modern Legend of Robin Hood paints a picture of a Penniless Noble Man, outlawed by Prince John and the Sherriff of Nottingham, hiding in Sherwood Forest Robbing The Rich and Giving Money to the Poor. He has been portrayed on both the Silver Screen by many Actors, but possibly Best and most Memorably by Errol Flynn in the 1938 film The Adventures of Robin Hood, and the T.V series of the same name starring Richard Green. But could the Heroic Outlaw been an actual living Man? Robin's story revolves around Robin of Loxley a Discredited Noble man in the Reign of Richard the Lionheart. He had all his Lands and Title taken from him by Richard's Younger Brother John, because of his support for King who was away fighting in the Crusades. However the first Ballard's of Robin Hood began to be told in 1377, the last year of the Reign of Edward III and was quoted has a yeoman in the time of our Comely King Edward. Which means this Robin lived in either the Reign of Edward I Edward II or Edward III. Records show that one Robert Hood a Forester was member of the Army of Thomas Earl of Lancashire, who made a bid for the English Throne, during the Reign of Edward II. At that time the King was Very Unpopular and he made a trip North to Nottingham where he learned of Thomas's Rebellion. The King's Army, Ambushed and Crushed the Earl's Force, the Remnants of which scatted including Robert, who along with Little John, Much the Miller's Son and Will Scarlett hid and lived in the Greenwood. So what makes Robert Hood a a Candidate for Robin Hood? Firstly Robin was a nickname for Robert and Robert Hood was a Forester by Trade. Therefore used to living in the Woods. He was a product of the times and if Robert made a living by robbing the Rich, he wouldn't have given money to the Poor, but would have kept it, helping him and his men's survival. Robert was also married to Matilda, who's nickname was Marian, so it would appear that Robert or Robin's wife also went to live with her husband in his Woodland Camp. It is said that Robin remained and lived in the Greenwood for 22 years. Then one day he visited Kirklees Priory which at that time was run by Elizabeth de Stayton who was the cousin of his wife Matilda/Marian, to be Bled for his health a common thing in those days but for reason's unknown, a Nun in the Priory betrayed Robert and left him to bleed to Death. So was Robert the Real Life Robin Hood?

Transfer Deadline Day
IT's this Kind of Attitude in the Transfer Window, which makes Fans ask Do The Brothers Have Any Ambition?

Over Confidence Or?
So No last minute signings on the last day of the Transfer Window. It would seem that a couple of Victories and holding on to Alassana Jatta, is enough to convince the Owners, that everything at the Lane is Hunky Dorey. But we Fans know it isn't. There have been many debates on this Site of what Players and type of Players the Magpies need to go for Promotion, and it would seem that Once Again the Fans have been Ignored. Poor Transfer Windows in January over the last couple of seasons have cost the Magpies, and this Summer Transfers haven't filled Fans with any sort of Confidence, from the Head Coach, to the D.O.F. and Poor Player Recruitment. So are the Brothers Over Confident and convinced that the Present Squad is capable of delivering Promotion to League 1? Are they hoping beyond hope that this Cheap Squad will fulfill their Dream of Notts Climbing the Football Pyramid? Or is it that they have spent to much money on the Club's Infrastructure and can only afford to bring in Free Agents and Loanees? While the expense of a Hybrid Pitch at the Lane has produced a Top Playing Surface , was it really necessary and cost effective to repeat that Expense at the New Training Ground? All ready this season Results have shown a Drop in match attendances at the Lane, this maybe because the Club have lost a few of the floating Fans and the Hardcore still remain, but How Long will it be, before even the Hardcore start looking for other things to do on a Saturday afternoon, if Results Don't begin to Improve Dramatically?

Jokes, Cartoons & Memes. It's the Laughter Corner.
There's this little Fellow trying to get into a Night Club. The Bouncer says You can't come in here Mate. Why Not? asks the small Chap. I'm a Famous Jockey I'll have you know. He turns round to the Four blokes standing behind him. And I ride these Gentlemen's Horse. Like I said Your Not Coming In with those Trainers replies the Bouncer.
