Kewell's first game in charge. Think it will be more of a experiment with the younger players to see who can maybe break into the first team. I like our youth setup at Notts so I fully back us to win this game comfortably .. I think it will be a 3-1 win to Notts County. I expect the lineup to be this:
Culverwell / Hawkridge - Bird - Dunn - Osbourne / Thomas - Patching - Crawford - Howes / Alessandra - Campbell.
Hopefully a chance to lift spirits within the camp.
-
I would love a win and it really does depend on what approach Chettle makes (assuming he is in charge). I think he likes to play attacking football so I am going to with this lineup.
3 - 5 - 2
Fitz / Brisely - Bird - Duffy / Alessandra - Hewitt - Vaughan - Kellett - Boldewjin / Dennis - Hemmings
Subs: Culverwell, Tootle, Husin, Alessandra, Hawkridge, Stead, Campbell.
It is a complete guess for the score because of how we react and gel to this new setup and if the players wanted KN in or out will reflect in how they play in my opinion. FGR are unbeaten and I think our defence will once again suffer from the likes of Campbell, Doidge and Reid. Sorry but it goes as a loss for me Notts County 2 (Hemmings (2)) - 3 FGR (Doidge (2) , Grubb) .
Please prove me wrong Notts.

I love the bloke. Even if things are going bad, I still have the same desire for him as I do for the club. Hes provided with some memories and players at the Lane I will never forget. I hope we can turn things around this weekend as I want him to silence all these Nolan out haters. I shall be reminding these 'haters' if we win of their tweets and remarks over the last week if they start wanting him to stay again.
-
KN loses this his job is in doubt, loses against FGR hes gone so massive game to get up for. I think hell lineup like this.
Fitz , Tootle - Brisely - Duffy - Kellett , Thomas - Vaughan - Husin - Boldewjin , Hemmings, Stead
Would expect to see no change however to the tactics and match preperation and not feeling confident at all about this one especially with our shocking form of conceding goals. Akinde and Green rip us to shreds. The likes of Shackell and Toffolo will ruin us in set pieces and it would be a result in itself just to not let this become a cricket score.
Score Prediction: Lincoln 4 (Akinde, Akinde, Green, O'Connor)- 1 Notts County (Hemmings)
Lose the next 2 games and Nolan is gone IMO, if not then that proves Hardy is clinging on to something that just isn't happening. Knock him down a peg or two.
-
The defense clearly is not working and neither is the keeper so I think this will be a means of attacking becomes defending. Thomas has to use his pace against an old David Pipe to his advantage and Vaughan has to find these passes through and around the back. They don't have too many threats IMO but we need to get a win here otherwise questions and pressure will start to mount on Nolan and I dont think Hardy has the bollocks to address these issues. I am being hopeful and I think it will be Newport County 2 - 4 Notts County. Lets utilize Boldewjin and Thomas and get the season rolling COYP!!!

Cambridge lost their main striker last year which will be a big blow. Not really noticed much transfer business but I think they still have Brown who score against us last year, he is a good unit. I am going for a 0-2 away win for Notts because I think KN will be keen to build an away form this year and I think this might be the time we see Dennis and Hemmings play together.
Lineup for me is this: Fitzsimmons, Tootle - Duffy - Hall - Jones, Thomas - Vaughan - Hewitt - Boldewjin, Dennis - Hemmings
Cambridge United 0 - 2 Notts County (Thomas, Dennis)
-
Personally after a tonking from Cheltenham and Steve Evans being sent to the stands i think the pressure is really starting to mount on their team after failing expectations by ownership and fans for the start of the season. Both team beat Lincoln so it will be a real test for both sides. Mansfield will be looking for 3pts no questions asked but i think Nolan would like a draw after a heavy round of fixtures recently. I think this will end up 2-2 (Grant, Stead).
-
Not that this is a bad thing at all but i can only see a loss here. I like to be optimistic but lets look at this game. A Tuesday night game in Devon against 2nd in the league who are unbeaten at home this season. We're going to have a real test on our hands, i think itll be a close game but with support unbalanced as i imagine little Notts fans will travel down for this game. I can see this ending up 2-1 Exeter. I hope im wrong though.
-
I think this will be a good test for the desire and determination of the team. How will we perform in derbies etc? I think Hawkridge will definitely play due to it being his old club. I cans see us rocking a 4-4-2
Collin / Jones - Hewitt - Duffy - Tootle / Hawkridge - Yates - Grant - Alessandra / Forte - Stead
Must be careful of Matt Green as i believe his suspension is up now and hes a class act in front of goal. Lincoln have real fight and determination and will be looking to make 3 points on Saturday i think to mount the pressure in the play off area. Real tough call so ill say 1-1 as i cant split the two sides.

Will be attending this game. Think it will be a win for Notts as we look to stretch out to a 6 game unbeaten streak. We must remain physical so once again i think we're looking at a strike partnership of Ameobi and Stead. My lineup is as follows:
4-4-2
Collin / Hunt - Brisely - Duffy - Jones / Hawkridge - Hewitt - Grant - Alessandra / Ameobi - Stead
I have chosen Hunt because i think his physical ability will prove vital against a strong Morecambe plus thought he did well against Vale. I would like to see Hollis in for Brisley if the head injury was a bit more serious than we thought. Ill go for a 3-0 win. Call me silly but i think they're really slow at the back and the pace of our wingers will crush them.
-
Good performance by both sides. Would've taken a point before the game had started so can't complain really ... but im going too. Ameobi at fault for first goal, he could have kicked it out for a throw or controlled it better. Second goal was down to Kevin Nolan, a replacement defender was not brought on quick enough and as a result of tired legs when they had fresh subs we conceded. 2-2 is a respectable result from both teams but we really should have seen out this game. Poor tactics by Nolan cost us this game IMO.
-
If we are looking for play offs or promotion this is one of those games where we have to win. Port Vale look poor so far so we should see this as our 3 points to play for. Having dropped 2 against Stanley this is important we win. Might i also add i predicted the correct score against Stanley lol 2-2, shame i did not put a fiver on it though.
Lineup: Collin / Dickinson - Brisley - Duffy - Jones / Grant - Hewitt - Alessandra - Hawkridge / Ameobi - Stead
Would play Alessandra as a CM because he adapted well for Hartlepool in that position and can always be put up front too. Good all round player to have as he can adapt to a game quickly. Ill go a 3-1 Notts Win
-
Same or very similar lineup against Wycombe. Personally I would go for a 4-3-3 against Stanley: Fitzsimmons / Tootle - Brisely - Duffy - Jones / Grant - Hewitt - Yates / Alessandra - Ameobi - Hawkridge.
I think against a strong Stanley side at the moment, counter attacking football would be our best option. I was disappointed with Collin against Wycombe to be honest. Just was not impressed and my opinion of him will remain unless i see changes. Communication for a goalkeeper is key and he just has not got that attribute. It will be interesting if Forte starts ahead of Stead though this week and see what sort of impact he can have over a 70 minute period rather than 20 minutes.
Stanley score a lot of goals but also concede a lot too. Ill go a 2-2 draw as i think a win will just be out of reach for both teams here.

It's not about picking your best players, but your best team.
Totally agree and see your points. To be honest playing Hewitt in CM is just frustrating me at the moment which is why i put Yates in there but would be happy to see Walker or Milsom in there. Hewitt just is not CM material, in my opinion does not have the attributes to be a play maker or box to box midfielder.
-
Tough one to call this. Akinfenwa had a cracking game last week and given his strength we should play Ameobi to counter this 100%. Defending corners etc. I think the following should be the lineup.
4-4-2
Collin / Tootle - Brisely - Duffy - Jones / Hawkridge - Grant - Yates - Alessandra / Ameobi - Forte
I think this would give us every opportunity to compete in this fixture and i would bench Stead to give him a rest as i think he picked up a knock against Chesterfield. If Grant starts along with Hawkridge and Alessandra, attacking i dont see why we cant get a couple of goals here so ill go for a 2-1 Notts County win. Would love a clean sheet but Akinfenwa is in good form and can see him scoring.
-
Id love to see Calvert-Lewin play in this match but i think that is out the question. However I think Nolan should play Stead and Forte together, i think Stead at the moment is lacking confidence and looks shadowed by other players at the moment. So hopefully Stead can get his name on the score sheet. I want us too take this seriosuly though as even though its seen as a 'petty' cup, I think any silverware this season would be a massive result and i think we have a good enough team to challenge for certain competitions including the league of course.
-
@liampie I think that could really work especially Milsom as a LWB and maybe develop either Hewitt or Tootle to play RWB. But to be honest i think that idea could really work.
-
Both opening days were poor however i would like to think Nolan has adapted his thought processes on how to approach this game. Call me crazy but i think we have got some real attacking threats and have the potential to score a truck load. Id love to see us play like a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 as i believe Duffy, Hollis and Brisely could really gel as 3 CB's. For me ill go a 2-0 win. I think it'll be close but home record is important to Nolan as he stressed towards the end of last season.
