  1. Bakayogo has a nightmare for their 1st goal. Every player marks their man except him and it's the one player (Alex Reid) who has the easiest chance of scoring, out of all of the Dagenham players in the box. Fitzsimons performed well up until that point but think that might be the last straw for him at Notts. 100% released in the summer it looks like. It's not just the two goals that we conceded that were poor, we were so lethargic and lacking in urgency the whole game. Passing was too slow and we didn't impose ourselves on the game well enough.
  2. Notts County saw their unbeaten run come to an end as they lost 2-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge at the weekend. The Magpies began brightly as Callum Roberts was denied a debut goal due to a fine save from Elliott Justham. However, the hosts took the lead in the second half as Notts' defence was caught out on a set piece, a corner from which Alex Reid netted. Michael Doyle was then dismissed as he was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Sam Deering. Reid then wrapped up the win for the Daggers when Ross Fitzsimons spilled a shot and the striker reacted quickest to smash in the rebound. 4. Had a bad week. Won't go into it. Needed yesterday despite the result. Wondering around Dagenham trying to find our coach being the standout highlight of this week
  5. Welcome to PON @chipmunx
  6. Fitzsimons 5 - Made two good saves in the first half but spilt the ball in the 2nd half, gifting them their 2nd goal Brindley 6 - Got forward more than he has done recently without the end product Rawlinson 5 - Not his best game Lacey 6 - Good in the air but the Lacey-Rawlo partnership had an off day Bakayogo 4 - Got forward but didn't result in anything. Went back too often, before sending Doyle to football hospital with a horrendous pass Roberts 5 - Didn't really see much of the ball but should have scored in the 1st half Rose 3 - Offered nothing all game. Kept attempting the long throws as well which ended in nothing. Don't know how he wasn't subbed Doyle 6 - Was the only player with an ounce of bravery in his passing until the moment when Zoumana sent him for an early bath Boldewijn 4 - Sometimes Enzio gets too much stick but today he did not look bothered I'm afraid. Didn't use his head when knowing what pass or run to make. Finally turned up with 10 to go Wootton 6 - Did what he could with poor service. Tried to do it himself after we got sent down to 10 men Dennis 6 - Battled away but like Wootton no real service O'Brien 6 - Came on and played two passes which make brave passing look simple. Hopefully, fully fit for next Saturday. Need him big time Thomas 5 - Had the chance to get through on goal once or twice, but didn't get to the ball
  7. Good article @Alexlevy0908. Aldershot had a proper good atmosphere and felt retro. Sutton's ground was half finished. It was like one of them Cowboy Builders things with Dom Littlewood. Solihull had absolutely no room and the stewards had no clue what they were doing because they didn't open up the other part of the terrace. I enjoyed Ebbsfleet. Standing terrace, visible scoreboard and the day overall was a good laugh, especially the pre-match game of Pointless we had in the pub. Halifax was good too. Good view of the ground but the food and drinks were expensive. I liked Eastleigh to be honest. Alright view of the pitch and good material at the back of the stand to bang to create an atmosphere
  8. Stoke City 1-0 Swansea City Bristol Rovers 0-2 Fleetwood Town Rochdale 2-2 Gillingham Crawley Town 0-1 Grimsby Town Exeter City 2-1 Colchester United (Joker) Chesterfield 1-1 AFC Fylde Hartlepool United 1-1 Stockport County Maidenhead United 0-1 Eastleigh
  9. Halifax at home. They were 2nd at the time and we were the better side easily, even with 10 men. Yeovil and Sutton away we looked like we were slowly getting there but there were still other bits missing from our performances. We played well at Huish but just couldn't take our chances. At Sutton we played well but only for one half. Halifax was the game. We had the defeat to Bromley afterwards but then we went on that run afterwards. After that dodgy spell in November, the Halifax away game was exceptional. Mitch Rose had the game of his career and we played some lovely stuff and deservedly won the game.
  10. Slow, tedious and boring week at work. Felt a bit down in some stages this week. However, got to spend good time with @meg_walshx and even went out for a Wetherspoons today. Cough has virtually gone too
  11. 5th. Barrow will win it. The only team that can stop them in my opinion is Harrogate. Yeovil will finish 3rd and Bromley 4th. Notts will pip Boreham Wood to 5th and Solihull will sneak in on the final day. We have improved from the start of the season and have settled down into a decent looking side. The addition of Alex Lacey has helped hugely. No disrespect to Ben Turner (he is a good defender), but Lacey is more calm and comfortable on the ball and helps us play out from the back. It also helps Doyle play further up the pitch, rather than dropping deep to receive the ball. We look a lot more calmer in defence now and we are a threat going forward. However, it's in them type of games like yesterday where Notts lack a bit of zip and a bit of flavour to unlock stubborn defences and turn games in our favour that are headed for a draw. It could be in them games we miss Regan Booty or Jim O'Brien in the centre to add that finishing flourish. Notts have stepped up their intensity from a few months ago but we need to be more consistent with it during games. We can do it on occasions during the 90 mins but sometimes we don't do it often enough, for example yesterday's game. Notts do it 6 or 7 out of 10 in games but we need to do it 8 or 9 times out of 10. They are the fine margins in football but overall, I think we will do enough to secure a play-off place. I would like to look into what the final league table might look like come the end of the season and leave it as a discussion on here.
  12. Notts County stretched their unbeaten run to nine games in a 0-0 draw with Dover Athletic this weekend. A fairly turgid game saw its first bright spark before the break when Enzio Boldewijn was thwarted by Lee Worgan and Kyle Wootton was then denied on the follow-up. Michael Doyle then set up Wes Thomas to have a go at goal but Worgan was equal to it. Inih Effiong wasted Dover's best chance, which came after the break, when he cut inside the area but fired way off target. In the end, neither side could break the deadlock so a share of the spoils was the final outcome. Pride of Nottingham ARLukomski was at Meadow Lane - here is his take on the afternoon's events. 13. Slocombe 6 - Collected crosses like General Grievous collects lightsabers Brindley 6 - Had his times getting up the line but not much of note Rawlinson 7 - Dealt with Effiong well and came forward with the ball out of defence Lacey 8 - Passing to the strikers and midfield in the first half was tremendous. Solid yet again. The guy is taking the mickey McCrory 6 - Lost the ball and was ran past on a few occasions but solid enough Osborne 5 - Still needs to work on his crossing. Should have put more power on his ball to Thomas Rose 4 - Too many ineffective passes. Was too deep and almost cost us Doyle 7 - Passing was alright and he got stuck in like he normally does. Was ready for the battle Boldewijn 6 - Was anonymous for quite a while but oh so close with that free kick Wootton 6 - Did his best to bring the ball down and into play. Sometimes his first touch was good and sometimes it wasn't Thomas 6 - Made them runs but needs to score that chance in the second half. He has half the net to aim for Tyson 6 - Really lively when he came on. Good to see Dennis 6 - Didn't really get much to be fair. Had a half chance
  14. Birmingham City 1-1 Cardiff City Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 Blackburn Rovers Lincoln City 2-1 Blackpool Fleetwood Town 0-0 Shrewsbury Town Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Cheltenham Town (Joker) Oldham Athletic 1-2 Carlisle United Barnet 1-1 Dagenham & Redbridge Halifax Town 0-0 Maidenhead United
  15. The amount of points I've dropped from positions where I've had more points. Reminiscent of last seasons Notts
  16. Notts County have advanced to the third round of the FA Trophy thanks to a 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge sealed in injury time with a moment of magic from Magpies captain Michael Doyle. Neal Ardley's charges hosted the East Londoners at Meadow Lane and, despite striking the woodwork, could not find the lead by half time, the scores level at 0-0. In the second half, Tom Crawford and Zoumana Bakayogo combined for the latter to then provide a great cross for Kristian Dennis to net his 11th of the season. The hosts then equalised when Ross Fitzsimons tipped Will Wright’s shot onto the bar, only for from the following scramble Mitch Brundle forced the ball over the line. Then came the moment of magic as a low clearance from the goalkeeper was picked up by Doyle just ahead of the halfway line. He set himself up and unleashed a superb, audacious and perfectly weighted effort which got the better of the keeper and neatly found the back of the net. 17. It's like it's all going well till 20 minutes to go and then it all falls apart. Newport score a 2nd, Doncaster score 2 late on and then Derby equalise in added time
  18. Barnsley 2-2 Huddersfield Town Middlesbrough 2-1 Derby County Bristol Rovers 0-0 Doncaster Rovers Oxford United 1-1 Rotherham United Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Lincoln City Macclesfield Town 1-0 Oldham Athletic Scunthorpe United 1-1 Newport County (Joker) Dover Athletic 2-2 Hartlepool United
  19. We've got Wootton Kyle Wootton Just don't think you understand He's lethal in the air He scores from anywhere We've got Kyle Wootton
  20. Notts County have moved up to fifth in the National League following a 2-1 win against playoff rivals Bromley. The Magpies took the lead when Sam Osborne led a pacey breakaway down the left before cutting the ball back for Wes Thomas to curl home his 10th goal of the season. Bromley restored parity shortly after the restart when Michael Cheek let rip with an effort from from distance. However, Notts regained the lead with 20 minutes remaining through defender Connell Rawlinson's first goal for the club, a powerful header from a corner. Bromley defender Chris Bush was sent off at the death for a second booking as Notts held on for all three points.
