  1. Looks like a strong line up and a strong bench. We need to match Brackley for effort and desire, then our quality should win us the game.
  2. I think that’s exactly the point@Scotty Crewe and Gillingham are not in the top seven. The table is fluid. If any of the teams we have beaten or will yet beat end up in the top seven then will be saying we have beaten some in the top seven. If Chesterfield or Swindon drop in the next few weeks Walsall results might not look so impressive. I understand that we need to get results from teams higher up the league, maybe we will have a better idea who they are in the new year.
  3. I agree @Robbie December is going to be an interesting barometer as to where we are. On the question of beating those in the top seven I think we are more than capable of beating any of them. It’s just at the moment we only have Salford to base a judgment on and we weren’t good that day. In fact we’re a completely different team now. So reasons to be optimistic!
  4. It is often heard that we shouldn’t get carried away with our current progress, because “we haven’t beaten anyone in the top seven.” Is this a misleading statement? We could turn this statement on its head and also say, we haven’t been beaten by anyone apart from Salford in the top seven. The table positions are fluid. For example we drew with Bromley when they were in the top seven and we have drawn with Swindon, both games we could easily have won. For me the the progress we have made genuine and without getting carried away, am looking forward to the rest of the season and a good January transfer window. COYP!
  5. That was not just a win for Notts, but a win for football. Notts were the only team trying to play football. Cambridge just came to frustrate and stifle us with the hope of nicking a goal. I have no complaints about the first half performance, Cambridge made it very difficult with their tactics as others have this season. The pleasing thing for me is in the second half we continued to try and play football and got what we deserved. Likewise, Cambridge got what they deserved, nothing!
  6. Jatta is my mom not just for his goals, but his all round performance was his best this season. The ball was sticking and his lay offs were good too.
  7. From what I’ve seen so far we should fear no one in this league. If we apply ourselves properly and the Meadow Lane faithful get behind the team and make a lot of noise, then I think we will win.
  8. One of the takeaways for me is that we’re beginning to see there is a very capable player in Conor Grant. If he can be more consistent and clinical in front of goal, he could be a big player for us. Credit to MP and his coaching team for helping him improve.
  9. Looking at Swindon’s two goals there were deflections involved in the build up to both of them. Having said that, we’ve had our share of deflections in recent times. Just goes to show the fine margins in football.
  10. I didn’t vote for Kelle Roos but a worthy winner nonetheless.
  11. I’m not convinced it was a smash and grab win. We weren’t at our best with the ball, but that was due to Barnet’s tactics. What we did was react to the situation they put us in and did it very well. They asked us to defend and we did! In that situation we only needed one bit of quality to win and we produced it. The takeaway is that we know how to play football and win an now we know how to defend and win.
  12. That picture @theAnticlough illustrates the passion and the will to win mentality that Martin Paterson has instilled in the team. I can’t remember the last time Notts celebrated a goal like that. That was definitely a well deserved win!
  13. I agree @theAnticlough Pato’s interview was spot on. Also think he takes a lot of the credit for the win. He got the tactics right and made the right substitutions at the right time.
  14. I felt the game yesterday was all that's wrong with English lower league football. Barnet suffocated us with there tactics There sole intention was to stop us playing and in the end they got what they deserved. It's not good to watch. But for once we coped with it and got what we deserved.
  15. I think the Barnet game has shown that Roos doesn't necessarily need come for crosses if you have central defenders that head everything. Goalkeepers that have to collect a lot of crosses maybe play behind defenders that are not particularly good in the air. If our defenders play like they did against Barnet then Roos will prove to be a good goalie for us.
  16. Just watched the full match replay and defensively we we're outstanding. For me MoM was a close thing run thing between Roos and McDonald. I think it was Roos's best game to date and for all the criticism he has received would have been well deserving of the award. But Rod McDonald was absolutely outstanding for the whole game. He headed and blocked everything. Without him today we would have lost this game. So my MoM is Rod McDonald.
  17. This win is really pleasing. We very really if ever win in this way. To defend like we did stay in the game and snatch a late winner is a classic away performance especially in league 2. Promotion winning teams have the the ability to win this way. This has been something that has been missing in recent years.
  18. It's just great to be back with league action! There some decent teams in this league and our next two games highlight that, but we're as good as any of them. We just need to believe it and go out and prove to the world. COYP!
  19. I don't think there is a question mark over his ability to make saves, I would say that's his strong point. For me it's his coming for crosses and distribution. When the opposition know his weakness they will just pump balls into the box and play for set pieces. If he can improve those weaknesses (and why not, we have goalkeeper coach and an ex-goalkeeper on the coaching staff) then he could turn out to be a good goalkeeper. He certainly has big match experience.
  20. Yes I hope Will Jarvis is on the bench. Watching him attacking tired defenders is an exciting prospect after they have been run ragged by Jodi!
  21. I wonder if the technical board was put in place because the owners didn't have the same confidence in Roberto Gagliardi as they do with Richard Montague? I think his increased responsibility seems to suggest they trust him more to deliver what they want.
  22. I think that's a fair decision given the circumstances of when and where he was at the time. He is one of those players that understands the way we want to play. I like the fact he is always ready to overlap the wing back when needed. Good news for the team.
  23. Agree with @Robbie and @YoopEyes this is a bad new, he was just starting to find his form. The only positive is it paves the way for Tyrese Hall and Tom Iorpenda to cement the places in the team.
  24. Club captain Matt Palmer came in for some criticism for not being a vocal leader on the pitch. As a result other names were put forward to replace him. So what do we think, should our captain be a vocal leader on the pitch or lead by example? It may be the criticism of Matt Palmer was due of the fact he wasn’t back to his best form and the team in general was not playing well. Now we’re seeing the Matt Palmer of old and with team performances improving, I personally think his leading by example works well for us. What does everyone think? Vocal or example?
  25. The fact that Matt Palmer doesn't score many goals is not a concern for me. His role as the anchor between defence and attack is more vital to the team that any goals he might score. When he passes the ball he doesn't just stand and admire it, he moves to a position to receive it back to keep the move flowing and moving the opposition around. Then play a pass through the lines when the opportunity arises.
