Notts County's FA Cup journey is over at the second round stage after Northampton Town claimed a 3-1 victory over Neal Ardley on Sunday. The Cobblers where ahead after just three minutes when Scott Wharton ghosted in at the back post and headed home Nicky Adams' corner. Regan Booty scuffed his shot wide from 12 yards for the Magpies, while Sam Slocombe denied Sam Hoskins at the other end, with the rebound hitting Ben Turner and coming back off a post. Notts County were held to a 1-1 draw in Saturday's National League meeting with Sutton United at Meadow Lane. The hosts took the lead after 14 minutes as Wes Thomas claimed his eighth of the season by turning in Enzio Boldewijn's low cross from close range. The 32-year-old was denied a second 10 minutes later as he flicked Richard Brindley's cross towards goal but goalkeeper Nik Tzanev was equal to it. Sutton began to threaten as Harry Beautyman forced a save from Sam Slocombe befUpdated by PON_News

Here is Part 7 in the series '150 Years of Football'. As before there are links to previous articles for anyone who missed them or wishes to read again. As I have explained previously, football in the mid 1800's was very haphazard and with very little organisation. Clubs were being formed all over the UK, playing games to different rules. The Football Association was founded on the 26th October 1863 and the Challenge cup which bears its name was first contested in 1871/2, provingUpdated by cheeky~k8

On Saturday, it was announced that former Notts County chairman Derek Pavis had passed away aged 87. Pavis, who has the west stand at Meadow Lane named in his honour, guided the Magpies through their most successful period in their recent history thanks to his shrewd appointment of Neil Warnock and investment in the squad. He also oversaw the redevelopment of the stadium before stepping aside after 13 years at the helm at the age of 70. Here are just some of the tributes left on tUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County proceeded to the second round of the FA Trophy after running out 1-0 winners over Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium yesterday. In front of just 931 people in Derbyshire - more than a third of those Notts fans - Kristian Dennis scored the only goal of the game in the second half. Chesterfield created a number of good chances in the first-half and could easily have been ahead at the break. However, they were unable to make the most of the opportunities and paid the priUpdated by PON_News

The Faces of PON is a fan gallery that captures the excitement and passion of Notts County fans at games. This season, Chris, a photographer, returned to Meadow Lane to take pictures for the first time in the 2023-24 season. Chris was inspired to start taking pictures at Meadow Lane after being asked to take pictures of fans at half-time many years ago. He decided to bring his camera to the Notts County vs. Tranmere Rovers game and capture the match day vibe throughout the day. Chris cUpdated by Chris

Notts County delivered a thrilling and nervy afternoon for the Black & White Army on Saturday as they twice came from behind to beat FC Halifax Town 4-2. Kyle Wootton struck either side of Mitch Rose's fine 60th-minute equaliser and 81st-minute penalty as County earned only their second National League win in eight matches. Halifax, who scored through Shawn McCoulsky and Jamie Allen, have now won just once in 10 league games as they slip out of the top seven, while Neal Ardley's chUpdated by PON_News

Pride of Nottingham is undergoing the task of comparing the last time Notts County were in a similar position as we find ourselves now. The last time Notts found themselves to be in the bottom half of the table in this league was back in the 2010/2011 season. The majority seem to share similar views to myself that we can avoid the drop but no doubt Derry/Abbott have a task on their hands. Yet until the maths are virtually impossible, we should try to remain optimistic about survivUpdated by cheeky~k8

Notts County put in one of the best performances in recent years in a 4-2 hammering of Bristol Rovers at Meadow Lane on Friday night to reach the second round of the FA Cup. The visitors had led 2-0 after the first 15 minutes thanks to goals from Liam Sercombe and Stuart Sinclair to seemingly set up a long, torrid evening for the Black and White Army. However, the Magpies rallied round as a quickfire brace from Ryan Yates edged them level by the break, setting up a second half in whichUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County's form is very much back on track after their thumping 3-0 win over Maidenhead on Boxing Day. The Magpies have made it two wins in a row in the National League, three in all competitions and four unbeaten. Neal Ardley's charges went ahead at Meadow Lane when Kyle Wootton scored his 12th goal of the season, powering home an Enzio Boldewijn corner. Sam Osborne then doubled Notts' advantage with a shot into the top corner after a neat counter-attack. County then allUpdated by PON_News

Notts County made it four wins on the trot and five unbeaten in all competitions as they ground out a 1-0 win at Solihull Moors on Saturday. Wes Thomas grabbed the winner, pouncing at the back post to tap home his ninth of the campaign. The 32-year-old struck in the 72nd minute, getting on the end of a cross from Kyle Wootton, who had won possession while chasing a seemingly lost cause. Mitch Rose and Sam Slocombe helped preserve the Magpies' lead with late defensive interventionsUpdated by PON_News

Seven years since our first and only visit. Seven exciting, long, sometimes joyful, but mostly nerve-wrecking years. But at the Oldham game the Swedish magpies were back, It wont take that long again. There was a lot of boiled up excitement for both me and Fredric as we drove up from London city airport on Friday. Seven years ago we visited Meadow Lane and Notts County to write a big article about the club as a part of my journalism exam. Since then we been fans, following intensely fromUpdated by Chris

Notts County return to League Two action on Saturday with a trip to Barnet, who sit bottom of the table. Although the Magpies were superb last time out in the league, winning 4-1 against Crewe, they will be eager to put the 8-1 loss to Swansea City in the FA Cup behind them while also seeking to get back into the automatic promotion places. Notts County bounced back from their 2017/18 League Two campaign opening-day 3-0 loss at Coventry City in impressive fashion, seeing off a dirty Chesterfield side 2-0 in Saturday's encounter at Meadow Lane. A heated encounter, Gozie Ugwu should have earned a red card for a number of clashes with home players, and was hauled off at half time by Gary Caldwell. Gibraltar international Scott Wiseman, meanwhile, did get his marching orders after hauling down Terry Hawkridge, denying him a cAdded by Chris

It's a day most unlikely to forget, as it's one our younger fans will be able to pass down to their children in future years. The club very optimistic – as in recent years had seen Notts County go onto have decent cup runs. Back in 2009 the previous season before this meeting Notts County had a very successful cup run which had seen them beat Wigan Athletic after 2-2 draw Meadow Lane. I fondly recall the draw as a 'change' very much seemed to be in the air at this point and after a concerningAdded by Chris

Harry was born 11th of February 2010, and was joined up to the junior magpies two weeks later. He was a proud owner of the football shirt at the same time. We took him to his first match when he was only a few weeks old. The match was against Macclesfield Town, and we won 1-0 (goal by Clapham in 18th minute). Harry was taken to every home game of the season, and a running joke that he was our lucky charm was soon banded about within the family and friends at the club. Today the F.A. oversees all aspects of the amateur and Professional game and is responsible for the management of the men's, women's, youth and national football teams. There were a lot of other factors though that helped the sudden, rapid growth of soccer and indeed other field sports. Some may appear insignificant but were nonetheless vital and helped speed up the development process. The invention of the lawnmower by Edwin Beard Budding in 1827 (patented 1830) was one such occurance, replacing the very laborious use of a Scythe and making the preparation of playing areas much easier. Advances were also made with the actual balls used, Inflated animal bladdAdded by super_ram
